  1. I looove Cancun and it is a party spot, but I'm going to Mayan Riviera for the wedding for a few reasons: 1. The beaches at Cancun resorts are a bit small - it's hard to have a private ceremony. 2. Cancun is kind of Americanized - I wanted a more exotic atmosphere for the wedding 3. My favorite resorts in Cancun are pretty expensive 4. Mayan Riviera resorts are bigger - there's more to do onsite. And if anyone wants to go offsite, there are towns close to most resorts. (Playa Del Carmen is supposed to have a good nightlife) LOL - this sounds like I'm a salesperson! But I really love Cancun, too and I had a hard time deciding - these are just the reasons that swayed me and FI.
  2. We are doing the legal ceremony beforehand - that way we can do anything we want at the Mexico ceremony.
  3. Welcome to the forum! Those are great resorts!

They started at $1000 and then went up...way up mostly. So I think having my custom was the way to go. This is the way to go if you know exactely what you want. If you are unsure of the style it may not be the best choice as you can't try the dress on before hand. I was luck to have the vintage gown 1st as I knew how the style looked on my body. I would still suggest going to some bridal stores and try on dresses that are similar to the one you want to make sure the style fits your body type. Thanks for the info! I was thinking of custom, but I was afraid it might be out of reach - now I'm definitely looking into it! PS - I just noticed - your wedding - 23 days! Yay - congrats!
  5. You can help as much or as little as you want. Some people in our families are not going to be able to afford it (and some just won't want to spend the money). But we already decided that the people we can't do without are my mom and FI's son. So we are paying for them and factoring that into our budget. Also worried about being "fair" - so we just aren't telling anyone what we are paying for!
  6. That is gorgeous - and it looks great on you! I hope that this isn't rude, but did a custom dress cost very much more than one from a salon?
  7. We are thinking about Xcaret eco-park. I'm not sure what it would cost, but they have beach, lagoon, jungle and ruins. Xcaret - Cancun most amazing eco park
  8. Hi Tracey! Welcome to the forum - I'm sure you'll find tons of info to help you decide!

  14. Congratulation everyone! We are planning for Jan 2010. Last month it was completely under control. But given that we can't actually book until closer to the date, I kept looking at other resorts. Now I've changed my mind 3 times!
  15. We're probably buying the stuff there, too. I have enough trouble making my suitcase under 20 kilos as it is! There's always a flea market or a WalMart somewhere. And just think of your bargaining power - "I need 20 of each"
  16. Congratulations and welcome! PS - We were at Dreams Cancun for vacation and it is gorgeous!

  18. Congratulations Ashley and welcome!
  19. It's probably not too late to plan for August. From what I hear, none of the planners will talk to you too early anyway! Just email Moon Palace and see what dates are open.
