And did you try on dresses in a store first? How does the quality compare? I'd just rather stick with Landy if there's going to be a huge difference. If not, i'm totally about saving some more money!!

That's great! Any chance I can get you to post some super close pictures of the detail on your dress?

I know nothing about poker or any gambling really. I played the electronic roulette at the Horseshoe which is pretty foolproof. I was more there for the free drinks ;P The free drink part IS pretty awesome!! Shreveport is ok...definitely different from Colorado but better than I expected. And I understand - I've been to a casino once and stuck to the slots. But it was still fun!

In my dress thread, another bride mentioned she ordered from there as well - maybe you could ask her to let you know how hers turned out when she gets them?? Ohhhh that's so great. I know the Landy bridal dresses are NOT returnable if you do a custom size...
  6. So I saw another bride on here ordered a dress from eBay Store - jin.dress88: Is there anybody else who has? They quoted me $164 to make my dress whereas landy bridal quoted $420 with shipping. If I could get my dress for $164 I would be ECSTATIC!!! But I'm also slightly apprehensive. But how much better could the landy bridal dress really be? Her's looked like it was really good quality...

I grew up in Denver and just moved here in June. But I haven't been to the casinos yet. My fiance goes frequently though, he's very good at poker and likes to win us money. Haha. He never really does it for fun though, just for profit - kinda views it as his other job... But I'd like to go at some point!
  8. Did you order a dress they had in their ebay store or ask for one that wasn't shown? I want to order a knockoff dress because I just can't spend $1200 on the original with alterations on top of it. I got a quote from Landy Bridal which a lot of brides on here recommend but they were a bit more than I thought they were going to be - $420. And the dress isn't huge. It DOES have some beading on it so I knew it wouldn't be the cheapest but they have some on their website with just as much detail for less money. Anyway I'm rambling. If I could get another quote that would be awesome. Especially since it looks like they do amazing work!!
  9. I haven't been there but I REALLY REALLY wanted to get married there! It's so beautiful and I love the beach gazebo!! We ultimately didn't choose it because of the charge for the safe and the fact that you couldn't eat in the specialty restaurants every night (limited to 3 per week). It sounds silly but these were amenities we didn't really want to compromise on when we're paying for an all inclusive resort. However, my maid of honor has booked it since its a bit cheaper than our resort. Our wedding is in february so I can let you know what she thinks of it! Unfortunately I think I deleted all the info I got from them. I know my friend is paying $1,000 a person including flight for Monday-Friday. Don't know if that helps at all or not....
  10. I wish I was closer. Dallas is the nearest big, big city and it's 3 hours away - ahhh!!!! I live in Shreveport, LA now. But maybe I could talk my fiance into making a weekend trip so he could go to some fish stores (wink wink).
  11. I grew up in Colorado but my fiance and I just moved to Shreveport, Louisiana this summer for his job.... The south is...uhh...interesting. Haha. I went to school in Oklahoma so I was semi-prepared.

Plus, it's like having 2 weddings!! We're doing cocktail hour w/apps, sit down dinner, DJ and the works. The wedding party will be wearing their attire and I'll hire a photographer for a few hours. We aren't having a DJ for our wedding in Mexico...just an ipod. We still plan on doing a first dance and father/daughter in Mexico. For those of you having big AHR....are you planning on repeating the whole first dance thing I won't do the bouquet toss, etc. but thought it would be nice to do the dance again. What is everyone else doing? Thanks! I don't think we'll repeat it all for the wedding (formal AHR is before the wedding). My fiance's parents have hired a DJ and have told us to think about our first dance. We aren't planning anything formal or private in Jamaica so after dinner I'm not even sure where we'll all end up. MAYBE if we find a place to dance and people are into it, we could see about requesting a song for us but I really doubt that...I'm just not into the other things (bouquet and garter toss)

  14. I think we'll end up dancing to "Hey there Delilah" by the Plain White T's. About 9 months into our relationship I moved out of state to go to graduate school. The day I moved I went to his apartment to say bye but when he got home from work he didn't say a word to me, walked in and put on the cd then turned to that song. He had stopped on his way home to buy the CD. Then he just held me and we listened to the song. After the goodbyes he sent me off with the CD. A year later he got a job in my town and moved to be with me! A month after that he proposed. We did a year of long distance and it was tough. I feel like we've been through a lot since then and maybe it doesn't apply to us as much anymore but it's still our song. I am slightly worried though because I mentioned this to his sister awhile back and she practically freaked out on me telling me how it was her and her boyfriends song. Her boyfriend has since proposed so i'm nervous that she's gonna get REALLY pissed that we're dancing to it first. They did long distance too so I get it...but I don't think they have the story we do. And hey, we're getting married first so I shouldn't cater to her right?
  15. Oh! I hadn't even thought of the email/website RSVP. That seems so much easier. I know my future mother in law is having a heck of a time with people not returning the RSVP cards she sent out in our pre-wedding reception invite. Brilliant. We sent out save the dates in June for our wedding in Feb. Then next month i'm sending out formal invites with the rsvp info. There are some people, like my aunts, who will book and not say a word to me. I want confirmation so we have numbers but I also want to know who's booked another resort - so I can find out how to get guest passes for them. Sounds like you guys are sending invites w/rsvps out much sooner. Should I be sending them out earlier than Nov for a Feb wedding?
  16. Man! doesn't seem like.ca does...that bites. Maybe you can find somebody who will ship to Canada? Or I'll be in Toronto next month for our pre-wedding reception and could bring it then mail it from there. Haha.

  18. I had never thought about it before but a friend of mine alerted me to the fact that Amazon has clothes for sale! I was in desperate search for a reception dress and remembered her telling me this. And I think I found the dress I want! For $60!!!!! I guess this thread is posted in partial excitement and partially because I wanted to make you all aware of this previously unacknowledged dress resource! Amazon.com: Bridesmaid Designer Dress #510: Clothing But in white. Sorry I couldn't post a pic, it only saves as a gif file which doesn't work for me...
  19. Wanted to bump this to remind people. But I also wanted to say that everybody should check ebay for the specific things you want. I just bought some Smashbox primer there for 27% less than retail including shipping. (Beat ya!) Haha. If you only search the "buy it now" section then you can be guaranteed the price and don't have to wait for the auction to end, just FYI. Probably 99.9% of what I saw is brand new and SOME of it has free shipping. You also don't have to worry about spending over $50 to get the free shipping with Sephora...

  21. This is a sample gown that I bought online from a store in Michigan or somewhere. It originally retails for $850!! It is Bonny style 762. I tried it on once upon receiving it. The dress has NO stains or missing beads. It has been in a small-ish garment bag and MAY need to be pressed but I'm not sure. I will ship the dress in a plastic bag inside a black garment bag. The dress has not been exposed to pets or smoke. This dress is wonderful quality and fairly light weight. It has a corset inside to help hold you in. It's ivory in color and the tag says its a size 10 but probably fits more like a street size 8. I was going to do some drastic alterations to this dress for our AHR (make it knee length and other things) but I can't fit into it anymore and don't want to sink more money into it. I really really need to get this gone ASAP so I can buy my wedding dress. My fiance won't let me buy another dress while this one is still in the closet, haha. Here is the description from when I bought it: "Elegant Textured Chiffon ivory gown. True sweetheart neckline, with ruching throughout bodice. Gorgeous AB stones, sequins and pearls are the focal point around the waist. Textured Chiffon overlay covering skirt and train." Manufacturer Measurements: Bust: 37" Waist: 28" Hips: 39" Hollow to Hem: 58" I will do free shipping within the continental US!!! $200 is a steal for this dress! <a href="http://s650.photobucket.com/albums/uu226/Beaujo85/THE%20dresses/?action=view&current=DSC01853.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i650.photobucket.com/albums/uu226/Beaujo85/THE%20dresses/DSC01853.jpg" border="0" alt="2 - front detail"></a> Thanks for looking!!

  23. Island Princess - that looks amazing on you! I especially love the shoes! Got my quote today...$416 for the dress I want including shipping. This was a bit higher than I had wanted BUT its nowhere near the $1200 price tag of the original....guess I have to get my other dress sold now...
