They also said they would make it ASAP since I "wasn't 100% satisfied" with my first order. Since it wasn't the craftsmanship that was wrong with this dress (it was me not liking the style on my body) I went ahead and agreed to their deal and just chose a different style of dress that I thought would look better one me. That's amazing!!! And dang it, not the seller I ordered from! Oh well.
  2. RaychelRae - which ebay seller did you use? I noticed you didn't say. I think your dress photographs beautifully and would be really happy if mine is coming from the same seller. Haha.
  3. UPDATE: got the dress last week and was slightly disappointed. Mostly it's because I didn't bother verifying the material and it ended up being 100% polyester. It's a bit cheap feeling in my opinion. But I took photos and it doesn't look that bad in pictures. I know my fiance won't let me buy yet another dress so i'm just going to deal with it. I need to have the chest taken in though since i'm not a perfect size. I think i'm going to take the flower off and replace it with a rhinestone brooch too because its not as nice looking as in the picture. I doubt I would have paid $73 (with shipping) for it in a store if I had seen it. Oh well, live and learn.

For example a dress from China and a Maggie dress may both be made from chiffon, but a China dress would use a polyester-chiffon where a Maggie would use a silk-chiffon which flows absolutely beautifully and looks just lighter than air. The China dress is still gorgeous and very well made, but you can definitely tell the difference in the fabric. You normally wouldn't know the difference until you got the dress though, because people typically list chiffon as chiffon (or whatever material) without specifying which type they use. I'm not sure about David's Bridal dresses as I'm not too familiar with them, but I would assume it's the same case, especially since they are able to offer cheaper dresses. You definitely pay for what you get with a higher end dress like a Maggie (better fabric, better crystals, etc), but if that doesn't really matter to you then a China dress would work just as good! I see. I guess I'm really only after the look. As long as it doesn't LOOK cheap it doesn't matter so much. I have seen Davids bridal dresses in pictures and they look ok. They just felt HORRIBLE when I tried them on. I had the option to purchase my dress in silk taffeta but it was twice as much so I just went with the regular. I hope i'm not disappointed...

First off I didn't know the dresses from China were Knock offs of the designers I just wanted an inexpensive dress. I must say that the quality of the dress is that of a davids bridal dress. I got a satin dress from them and it looks good. Most of the things that we wear and use on a daily basis on made in China anyway so I figured what the heck! I'm not a label whore so it didnt matter to me who made the dress as long as it looked good, its for one day! So to answer the original question, I think it is fine to go with a dress from China! I had a great experience! Can you describe what you mean by "Davids Bridal Quality". I was kinda hoping to avoid this. I tried on DB dresses and felt like they were poorly made mass produced dresses. (No offense to anybody who bought one but you can find better dresses for the same price). I thought my tent was made of better material than the DB taffeta dresses I tried on. Not to mention the poor fit and major alterations necessary. I ordered from somebody else so the materials are guaranteed to be different but I'm kinda freaking out now! I want BETTER quality. Haha. I'm not expecting Maggie quality though (replica designer I ordered)

  7. THIS is exactly why my fiance and I rescued a dog instead of getting a puppy. We both work 40 hours a week and just don't have the time to give a puppy. However, I've had puppies growing up and know how frustrating it can be. Especially when you're cleaning up messes or they're eating your shoes or get loose in a grocery store parking lot and won't come when you call (wanted to murder him that day). In my 5+ dogs experience (ok, not even close to others on the forum)...be VERY consistant and do NOT let the dog out of your sight. Haha. Crate the dog when you can't watch it and make sure the crate is only big enough for it to turn around - if you give a dog ANY more room than that, they WILL relieve themselves in there. When the dog is out of the crate, keep a close eye on it for the "going to go" signals - sniffing, circling, etc. If you see these things, rush it out immediately! Teach by positive reinforcement. She'll get the hang of it, don't fret!

I'm just saying that not allowing people to sell until they have 100 posts is something I've seen numerous times before. I've also heard of people making one word posts so they can get up there and still scam people. Nothing is really a guarantee. It also can be frustrating if you want to sell something, are legit but don't have the posts to be able to. Bites that somebody would do that here...

Basically what it comes down to is this is not a buy/sell forum. This is a wedding forum that has some benefits. Just try to be proactive about researching the seller if you are making a large purchase. Make sure to use your credit card or paypal, so you are protected by them. Here's the other thread again - http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...wn-risk-51322/ Are noobs REALLY selling more than buying? That seems contradictory to me since most people post stuff for sale after the wedding Maybe that's just me. Anyway, most other forums I'm on (and not even wedding forums) make you reach 100 posts before you can sell anything. Maybe that's not too hard to implement and would help?

And they're probably too dark for you ("clover"). What's your budget? Elegant Perspectives - Buy Wedding Chair Sashes, Bows, Ties - Canada & USA has some for fairly cheap and since they're based in Canada you don't have to pay duty on them, just tax. Which might be cheaper than paying duty on the wedding linens direct home page ones which are a little cheaper pre-duty. Good luck!
  12. RaychelRae!! That's so pretty! I have a hard time believing anything would look bad on you btw. Too bad it didn't work out.

She just ordered the flowers I want so I don't even have proof pictures yet but she does awesome work! I'm paying somewhere around $100 for 3 bouquets, 4 bouts, and 3 corsages. I also ordered my bridesmaids jewelry from Wild Orchid Gems by wildorchidgems on Etsy She charged $35 for each set.

Then the place I'm ordering from will send me proof picts and I have the option not to buy it. So, I know before really committing if it's going to be close enough to make me happy. A lot of ladies CAN order a dress they haven't tried on or have a completely custom one made and be really happy. From past experiences I know this doesn't work out for me. I bought two sample wedding dresses on ebay and hadn't tried on either one. I got them and just wasn't in love with them. I also ordered my reception dress online (Amazon) and just got it yesterday. I was again, disappointed in the quality mostly. But that's really my fault for not asking the seller what the material was (they didn't list it). In this situation, I know I LOVE the style and know what kind of material they'll use so I have no reservations about it. But i'm sure if you found something you liked in a store and knew the style/fit were right for you - there'd be no problem with the knockoff. As long as you ask the right questions and make sure the seller understands what you want, you can't go wrong!
  15. We're getting married in February and sent out STDs in June. Most people who would actually come knew about it long before then though. I'm going to send out invites at the end of November with the rsvp info just so I have a count. I want it to get there early enough that maybe people could find last minute deals but also before the holiday rush really hits full swing and they forget to rsvp or are totally broke from Christmas. Haha. If you haven't sent out STDs previously i'd send out invites ASAP.

I had pretty much given up on it but hadn't found anything else I liked as much and had tried on about 200 dresses. THEN I found this thread! I contacted a few people to get quotes and got the ok from my fiance to order form them. I just sent them a link to the designers website and asked them what they would charge to make it, how much shipping would be and how long it would take. Here's the reply I got: "We can make this dress for you. The dress needs 30- 45 days to make and if you have a rush need, please let us know when you need the dress. The price for the dress is $120. You can first pay $60 unreturnable deposit. After finish the dress, we will send you several pictures of real item and you can make decision to buy it or not. We cannot promise to make a 100% exact copy, however, we will try our best to make it most similar. The shipping fee is $59 to usa for international express service (4-5 business days), if you are in other countries, please let us know If you want to make this dress, please tell us your email address, then we will send you an email to let you know how to pay and which your measurements and other information should provide." So as soon as I get the email with how to pay the deposit and measurement information I'll send in my numbers and also the more detailed pictures. I'm so excited that I actually get to see the real thing before it shows up on my doorstep!! They are awesome so far!
  18. YAY!!!!! My fiance gave me the go ahead to order my dress from Gianinarbridal!!! They quoted me $180 including shipping! AND They only required a $60 non-refundable deposit to start the dress. Once "finished" they send proof pictures so you can decide if you want to go ahead and buy it or want anything changed. I'm ECSTATIC right now!!! This is the dress i'm having them make, but with a corset back.

It's a beautiful dress though, so don't doubt that! I've had it listed on ebay about 6 times, craiglist, theknot.com, bravobride and here. I REALLY need to get rid of it while not losing much more money on it. I don't really live in a great area to be selling it on craiglist and I guess I can't compete with the Chinese manufacturers on ebay...grr!! Just makes me wonder if there's something i'm missing. Haha!

  21. bholthof - The back looks amazing too!! You did custom measurements right? I want a wider corset, with more of a "V" shape. Like this If you laced it like that would it be too big on you? I guess i'm asking if you NEED it that tight for it to fit well? Thanks!

I put it on and went screaming around the house bc it was exactly what I wanted. I think the cost was $200ish including shipping. There was a lot of beading and details that I didn't think they'd be able to do well, but it turned out beautiful. I just sent them a few pictures and they put the dress together for me, then sent me a picture of the final dress. I asked for the bottom to be taken in to give a more mermaid cut... they did that and then mailed it. The whole process took about 2 months. Have you posted detailed pictures of your dress? I would love to see them. I want to order a dress with beading but was mostly worried about this aspect. Any pictures would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!
  23. Or maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. I just checked their website again and all the prices seem super reasonable Guess I'll contact them and then pick. Haha.

I've posted on the knockoff thread already. I've had two quotes they're just very different in price and I have decided who to go with or if i'll even be sacrificing quality for cost.
