Anyone interested in a cinch pack group buy?
KJT1985 replied to KJT1985's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
PS- I'd probably be ordering 25-30. -
I'd like to order custom cinch packs to use as out OOT bag. This MIGHT be a bit premature since I haven't gotten the go ahead from my fiance but I want to start looking into it. Most places give you a significant discount if you order in bulk so i'm checking to see if anyone is interested in a group buy. Here's what i'm thinking: - order bags from Discount Mugs: Promotional Printed Tote Bags, Beach Bags, Promotional Tote Bags, Personalized Tote Bags - let me know if you are interested and what color bag you'd want (we all have to order the same so the one with most votes wins). - vote on the which artwork you like best. It will not have names and dates, instead it will say "Jamaica 2010" - I will order the first week of January. The bags would arrive within 3 weeks. Prior to submitting the order I will contact everybody to double check numbers and make sure they are ok with the color and artwork (at which time you can back out). I haven't done this before and I THINK most people collect the money prior to ordering via paypal? Then I'd place the order and ship them out to everyone once they come in. Here's the artwork I liked

AHR... in 2 places...how do we do this?
KJT1985 replied to nmoreau's topic in At Home Reception (AHR)
We have to have two AHRs as well. My fiance is Canadian and 95% of my family lives in Colorado. My FILs offered to host our Canadian reception and decided on doing it before the wedding since it works out better for us regarding time off work. When I sent out STDs I just said that there would be receptions at home to celebrate with those who couldn't make it to Jamaica - didn't give details, dates or anything. His mom sent out the invites for the pre-wedding reception (which was this past Saturday!!!!!). Now I'm sending out formal wedding invites. We haven't figured out the Colorado reception yet but when we do i'll send out invites for that. I know some people say its rude to invite people to the receptions who weren't invited to the wedding but I don't see a problem with this. I've been invited to a reception before where the they had a tiny intimate wedding with just family and I didn't mind not being invited to the real thing. Besides, the receptions are more for your parents so they should get to invite whoever they want (assuming they're paying). I just can't justify inviting 200 people (spending so much money on invites and postage) knowing full well they won't come to Jamaica just so they can "rightfully" be invited to the AHR. I do know a lot of brides include an option for the AHR on their wedding RSVP so that might work too. Just have an option for both so they can indicate which one they'll be attending. This would certainly be cheaper as far as the cost of invites and postage. IF it's informal you could always send out e-invites for the AHRs.... You really have lots of options and it's totally up to you. On a side note - ALL guests invited to the wedding were invited to the AHR. -
did you make an entrance for your AHR?
KJT1985 replied to Tilly in the Sun's topic in At Home Reception (AHR)
We just got back from our formal pre-wedding AHR. My FMIL wanted the big entrance so we did it. After mingling with the guests as they came in, the DJ asked that they all be seated for dinner. They he introduced everybody as we walked in (to music). Everybody just walked straight to the head table and sat down. No big deal really. It wasn't nearly as awkward as I thought it was going to be. And I guess it was good for guests who didn't know the wedding party to be introduced to them somehow. -

I wouldn't be wearing it again and my friend got her dress cleaned and can't even look at it cause it's locked away in a box so what does it matter if it's got some water spots? I don't know A few brides have said that they bought their dresses off other brides here....how do you do that? I think I decided to wear the wedding dress for some crazy "TTD" pictures. Mostly I want the water ones but our resort also has a circus thing with a trapeze and trampoline and I think those could make awesome pictures. I'm slightly worried about getting on the trapeze with my dress because I plan on wearing it again to our AHR and don't want to ruin it. I'll probably end up just hanging off it and swinging. My only concern at this point is how to get it home. After spending a week at the resort (Jamaica) we're flying to puerto rico and going on a cruise for a week. My fiance's job transferred us away from all family and friends back in the summer. Nobody from Louisiana (where we live now) is going so I don't know how to get the dress home without it being a huge pain. This really is a problem regardless of doing the TTD though... I doubt i'll be seeing anybody again before our AHR either...

Wanted to Buy - Cream or Green Chair Sashes

It should be on the website or something.. otherwise I would have specified a different company.. guess I got off topic there for a minute and vented instead of helping! sorry about that. Well it's not really the company's fault. That will happen ANY time you order something that's coming from outside Canada. It's a customs/government thing, not a company thing. It also depends on how it's being shipped (UPS verses USPS). It's something all canadian brides on here don't necessarily think about. My fiance knew of this so we avoided shipping anything directly to his parents house in Canada. His mom ordered her dress from Nordstroms and also had to pay a customs charge (and flat brokerage fee for UPS). Like I said, it'll happen with ANY company you use that's not Canadian... -

I just took 100 satin chair sashes to Canada and back and it was NO problem! Folded in their packages they barely took up any room and not even quite half after I packed them away after the reception. -
Tell me how to give our centerpieces away!
KJT1985 replied to KJT1985's topic in At Home Reception (AHR)
Well! We just got home from our AHR and we ended up doing the trivia. I put a "fact sheet" by the guest book so those who don't know me/us well could still have a chance. It was a fairly big hit (DJ did a great job hosting it) and it seemed that a lot of people actually read the facts! Some however...did not. He pitted two tables against each other and went around until all were given away. Haha. Thanks girls! -
So I'm lame because I really don't like it when things aren't symmetrical...but along with playing up the date, I would (personally) try to put the flower on the other side. (ie make a mirror image of it) I think the direction of it and the direction of the font would go better (the font would flow with the curves of the flower more if that makes sense). But it's still REALLY pretty! I love the colors!

So....I'm not Canadian but my fiance is. His family lives on the east coast (Brampton, Ontario - just outside Toronto). We're having our AHR there this Saturday!! But don't get married till February. His parents are hosting and thought this would be easier since we need to have two AHRs and getting that much vacation time off around the wedding would be impossible. They've booked the Peel Regional Police Association banquet hall, which i've yet to see. It's much more formal and traditional than I wanted. 6pm cocktail hour, 7pm seated dinner, DJ, open bar. But it will be fun. The DJ keeps emailing me asking me what we're doing about the "kissing game", I continue to ignore him. Those traditional things are all the working of my FMIL but they're hosting so i'm letting them do what they want.... As for favors, my FMIL ordered customized shot glasses. I haven't seen them yet either! Haha

My Centerpieces Have Arrived!!

DAMN it! We're doing something like this for our AHR (but with floating candles) but already bought regular vases. SO cute! -
His plan didn't go quite as....well, planned.

Bah! I just noticed I referred to myself in the third person. I'm retarded. I copied the story from our website since I had written it immediately and then just edited it to be in first person but I guess I missed a spot. lol oops! -

KJT1985 replied to KJT1985's topic in Share your Wedding & Engagement Stories!
Yup, totally agree. Especially since I had told him numerous times that I wanted it to be a total surprise and that it needed to be unique. Haha. -
I never posted our engagement story (from over a year ago). But here it is. Not really what I had imagined but its still OUR story. My fiance randomly decided to go on a picnic in October when the weather is turning cold in Colorado (where we were living). All that day he was after me to hurry home so we could go. Immediately upon walking in the door he says to me, "Why is your hair up?!". I told him that she didn't have time that morning to take a shower. He then told me that I had ruined the picnic and that's when I knew something was up. He had EVERYTHING ready for the picnic and was just sitting there waiting for me (he's usually not so helpful). It was 45F (7C) that day. We ended up driving about an hour up to Estes Park, Colorado and sat at a picnic area by lake Estes. On the way up there he was dancing retardedly in the car and said "if you're lucky you'll get to see me dance like this for the rest of your life". Then he asked me "for future reference, when I propose do I have to be down on a knee?" Obviously he's not good at hiding things and this is the point where I start to feel sick (with anticipation). I wrapped myself in a blanket and was wearing flip flops (cause he wouldn't let me take two minutes to change my shoes) while he was building a make shift fire to cook chip dip on. It was freezing and in Kevin's words - the picnic didn't go as he had planned. He told me that he had something to make up for it though. We drove back to our house and Kevin gets the gas fireplace going (which Katie had been asking for). He made me hide in the kitchen while he did this but I could hear what was going on. So we sat by the fire sipping wine in the dark. I could tell he was a little on edge. At one point I commented that I loved him - his response was "I hope so...". He then pulled out the ring box (which I had seen him move from his jacket pocket to his jean pocket) and asked me if I knew was it was. In shock, I said no. He opened it and asked me to marry him. After MUCH crying, I said yes. So I'd NEVER tell him this but the only thing that would have made it better for me was if we'd gone to the lake I grew up on instead of in the mountains. Oh well, still memorable!

Keep with it! Yeah but i've only been swimming 2 or 3 times in the past month. I was doing good until my grandmother passed away almost a month ago. All routine just kinda went out the window then. Then the time changed which shouldn't have but threw me off. I know, lots of excuses. Haha Anyway, I think i'm going to start the couch to 5k program tomorrow. I'm convinced i'll be able to make myself run this Friday while at the in-laws (they live in Canada and we're having a pre-wedding reception Saturday). Hopefully the party is the motivation I need to be in BETTER shape by February!
