  1. We invited 140 and we are going to have 70 - so you are probably safe with planning for 50% for a DW. BUT, we are also paying for the whole thing, so when my Dad asked to invite his cousins, I said, "well, then we will have to invite mom's cousins and my FI's parents cousins and we really hadn't planned on adding that many additional people". My Dad forgot that whatever he added, we had to do the same for my FI's side - that may help you FIML understand.
  2. The choice of location and/or resort was my toughest decision - but once we got there, everything really starts falling into place. Unlike a regular wedding, a lot of the choices are narrowed for you - I'm much better with process of elimination! Trust me, you will breathe a huge sigh of relief once you make this first decision! Best of luck!
  3. What is driving me nuts is Kim's wig! She keeps messing with it and it looks worse every show. Distracting!
  4. Welcome and best of luck with the planning!

Congrats! You certainly won't forget your wedding date!

  7. Love this show - such a guilty pleasure. I'm a Chucky and Blair fan, so I'm hoping this season gets juicier for them now that the "chase" is seemingly over.
  8. Hi Emily - congrats and welcome. I think your budget will depend greatly on the location you choose and how fancy you want to get for your wedding, how much you want to do for guests, if you choose an all-inclusive, etc. There are lots of factors that can help (or hurt) your budget. Check out the threads on a few locations you are considering - good luck!

Welcome to the forum! You are going to get a ton of help - good luck!
  10. I mix a few almonds with dried cranberries and a few yogurt raisins - it's got good protein, sweetness and is better for you than any other trail mix. Fiber One bars are actually really filling and healthy too - a great afternoon, put it in your desk snack.
  11. I know it's hard not to feel guilty, but just remind yourself that it's your wedding and you and you FI should do what is best for the two of you. Some people pick a location so that friends and family almost don't have an excuse NOT to come (like they all live within 60 miles), and that is fine and their choice. No matter where you have your wedding or how much it costs, some will come and some won't. As long as you accept that and understand that people may not be able to come solely because of the cost, you can try to let the guilt go. You could also tell guests that their "presence is your present" and they do not need to send gifts?
  12. Yea - it's back! It looks like this season has some pretty talented chefs. Plus, I loved Wolfgang Puck's comments and reactions to things. When he cut into that seiten chile thing, the look on his face was priceless!

If anyone is interested in seeing them, let me know. They are a cluster of 3 sizes of vases filled with rocks, green orchids and floating clear flower candles. AshManahan - I can't see your pic, but they sound pretty. Are these centerpieces you are buying at the hotel or making yourself? Sorry if you answered this later in the posts, I had to start a few pages back since I haven't checked in all day!
  14. We're doing beach towels as our favors and we found one of our guests who has 1K status on United (which he is flying to Mexico), so we are going to pack a couple of extra bags or boxes for him to bring with him. I'm wondering if boxes will look suspicious to customs, though. It'd be easier that way, though, b/c you could just throw the boxes away once the towels are passed out!
  15. Wow - these women are something else! How can they not be embarrassed by their behavior on this show? You would think if they were indeed "classy" women, they would be concerned with getting into physical altercations with each other! I love this stuff!

Welcome to the forum. Happy planning!
  18. Are you ladies sending out separate Rehearsal Dinner invites if you are having one? If so, how far in advance are you sending those? I figured 2 months out will be enough time (we'll know by then who is coming, so it's more of a courtesy invite than anything else).

The hotel asked for final numbers 45 days out, so I figured that would give me enough time for the stragglers.
  20. I thought Kim had a restraining order against Lisa after last season? We probably only see 1/2 of the drama on this show!
