Rydm-the bags are cute-I am assuming they have the colors of your wedding? Big3n09-you don’t have to get your hair wet to do TTD. I have seen so many different ways of the photo session. I think it is more about being in a more relaxed atmosphere with you and your hubby! Taovandel-thanks for the info of the chairs…for some reason, I still haven’t gotten he pictures from Kerry. You can still do invitations for 25. Are you inviting anyone that will not be able to attend the wedding? There are some beautiful DIY invitations… I hope everyone is doing well…I haven’t done anything wedding related!

Caves versus Tensing Pen or somewhere else?
Mastistyle replied to futurerana's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
It also depneds on your budget. Both hotels are gorgeous-but The Caves is a little more than Tensing Pen. There is no rule that you need to be in a sundress and flip flops for a beach wedding. Like pp said, I have seen a formal (tuxes) wedding on a beach...do what makes you happy. Especially since it will be the 2 of you-enjoy every minute of it. -
International Phonecards

I agree with pp-buy the calling cards before hand. Just google calling cards from jamaica to uk...you can buy them immediately-no wating for them in the mail. -
Welcome! I am sorry you have to switch resorts-but I am sure you will get alot of help here. I am getting married in Negril-so I probably not alot of help to you. But good luck with everything!
-
Its Frday! Did anyone ever get any pictures of the chairs? Kerry said she would email me back, but I haven't heard from her? Thanks!
-
I know me-and I stress out easily-so that wouldn't be enough time for me. But like Claudette said, you will have less time to owrry, and have more time to have fun and enjoy yourself! We are getting married on a Friday, but are leaving on Monday or Tuesday. I was trying to persuade FI to stay at The Caves (Rockhouse is booked for the nights I want), but he didn't go for it...he also wants to hang out with his family...he said this wasn't our 'real' honeymoon', so it didn't matter. If we had more time, I would stay in Negril by the cliffs...

Lauren- I am not sure if you have already decided on a venue-but I am getting married at Moon Dance CLiffs. I haven't been there, but from what I have read, and seen in pictures, it looks like it will be a beautiful place once finished. MDC is a bit more expensive than ohter resorts (RIU, Sandals, etc). But wherever you pick, you can DIY alot of things. Have you also looked into Mexico, or stateside- FLorida, or Tybee Island?
-
This was one of the places I was looking at...but ultimately, we wanted something a little more modern. So we went with Moon Dance. But it did seem pretty popular-at least when I was looking. 3 of the 4 dates I looked at were booked. You may want to go look on tripadvisor for some reviews as far as weddings go as well. Good luck!

Lynnmb1021-I guess that is the way MDC handles it. Kerry is the person who you will be emailing back and forth with, and Linus is the head person, so I am assuming he would handle everything once you are there. I thought the exact same thing!

Hi ladies-I am swamped at work and I am behind on the posts. So I am playing catch up-and besides, this is so much better than working right now! big3n09-did COurtney visit MDC? What did he think? Claudette-what a wonderful way to honor your FI's family having a ceremony at the church. And the fact that it will be initmate and small-it won't be alot of work. I was making a list of things for you-but the girls covered most of it. 1. Have you decided how you wated your hair? 2. Shoes for ceremoney and reception? (I may be cheesing it-but I want to add some bling to the bottom of my heels. Like the date, or FI/my initials on, or some thing funny...) 3. Are you doing hair and makeup yourself-or the spa at MDC? If using MDC, then don't forget to make an appointment. 4. Do you have your jewlery and veil? 5. Are there certain pictures you want the photographer to take? 6. Are you doing photoshare cards? 7. buy stamps for the invites Centerpieces-I wanted to bring my own for decorations-only bc I want some indian things adapted into the decor. But at the same time-everyone keeps telling me how much of a hassle it would be to make sure everything gets there... Lynnmb1021-my weddig date is 11/20/09... OOT bags are such a nice touch for the guests. I don't want to lug everything down there-so I think I may do something more local-rum cake, curry packets, coffee, cigars etc etc and then attach a note with it in a bag. I would love to do tote bags-but they are expensive. So, I was thinking of using those regular gift bags (the simple ones you can get 4 for a $1) and then putting a wine label size sticker on the bags. I will have to take a picture of what I am talking about and then post it to get your opinions.

I was just reading a post about that...Jamaican weddings licenses are legal in the US. So, I am not going to get registered stateside. It is one less thing I have to worry about!
-
Lynmb1021-congrats on your booking! This is a great thread-everyone has been so helpful!

I am not getting a traditional wedding dress-I will be wearing an indian outfit for the wedding and reception. I have the wedding one-but haven't even started looking for the reception one...

Help with Negril wedding location?
Mastistyle replied to mellibean's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
I am getting married at Moon Dance Villas-but they have a sister property that is on the beach., Moon Dance Villas. Other options are The Caves or the Rockhouse (although this is on the cliffs). Good luck! -
Hi Ladies- I guess our concerns were heard...Randy/Kim sent me some pictures of the resort. If you didn't get them, PM or email me at mastistyle at hotmail dot com and I will forward them on to you...

Weeknight or weekend? What is better for you?
-
Big3n09-congrats...I know you must be so relieved to have the place set. And it sounds like the dress shopping is going great...I am so far behind-I just sent an email to the tranportation guy about an hour ago. (as well as Majorie!) Cake-I was thinking mango and amaretto-I have never tried that combo-I needed something to think about while running this morning-so cake flavors was it! Why do you girls think? Does that sound too sweet?
-
Claudette- Only certain rooms allow a rool away bed. Marion told me that the rooms and deluxe rooms -no rollaway, but all the others you can have 1 for $75 per night plus 18.25%.
-
I am in! There has to be some other Houston DW brides... Midtown or Washington is perfect...
-
Stupid s- 1. How did you decide on a cake flavor? Someone at work gave me a few bakeries here-and she said they are great wedding cake makers. She also suggested I go taste their cakes to see what I would want for the wedding in Jamaica...but all bakers are different, so how would that help 2. Can you bring flowers back from Jamaica? (bouqets) I am doubting myself on everything now...
-
I am not sure about Jamaica-but I went to Belize in December and we looked like we had the chicken pox! The staff gave us some off insect repelent. It helped, but we smelled like that the whole time! I hope someone has better ideas!

Calling all November 2009 Brides!
Mastistyle replied to beachbride2009's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Forgive me if I am being repetitive…I am catching up on the board… Congrats to all Nov 2009 brides! I am getting married in Negril Jamaica November 20, 2009 at Moon Dance Cliffs… I am so far behind, especially when I read all of your posts… I have 1.Set a date 2.Reserved the place Yikes! We aren’t having a bridal party-so no BM of GM. I know what I am wearing but will need to make some adjustments). But I need to get something for the reception. Jamaicabride09-are you getting all of your vendors through the resort? -

catwait2718-love the dress! it is gorgeous...(sorry I am catching up on the board) -
big3n09-could i also get your transportation guys info if possible? I am doing save the dates via email...I wanted to do actual cards-but I am trying to cut costs...postage is increasing in May-so that was yet another factor I needed to include for the expenses. I have seen so many inviatations types-DIY, wedding paper divas etsy, and I can;t decide on anyting either! I don't want the traditional white cards-something colorful but classy and edgy...(not sure if this exists). I have also seen some invitations on bottles of wine, scrolls, passport invites... I still haven't even created a website!

I also think the chair pricing is crazy...it seems they are getting their fare share of profit...from these referral fees to the chairs... I got an email from Kerry on Saturday saying she was working on an upcoming wedding wedding, but would get back to me within a week or two...I understand that they are short staffed, and each wedding needs attention, but come on. Even with island time-this is getting a little crazy. Taovandel-keeping my fingers crossed that won't make you pay that much...
