We got married at 2:00. The Nizuk section, in the middle of the resort, is very close to the Tucan and the Bugambillias gazebos. There is a great lobby bar inside the Nizuk main building. We had some down time between the wedding and when our 5:00 cocktail hour started so we planned a toasting time in the bar between events. We also let people know they could go back to their rooms or do what they wanted. We had guests that didn't have rooms at the resort so we wanted something to do the entire day. The resort ended up comping a room for them (from noon to 10:00) so they had a place to change or nap so that was nice for them too. It all worked out perfectly. Here was a bookmark we made and had in everyones bag. sorry... my bookmark looks strange until you click on it. Actuall event times: Wedding - 2:00 Cocktail Hour (outside) - 5:00 Reception / Dinner / Dancing (inside) - 6:00 - 10:00 We also met back at the Nizuk Lobby Bar after the reception for more toasts before the wedding party went and jumped into the pool. Then we came back dripping wet for another toast! We just used it as our main meeting area the whole day.

Cici, I don't know what stage you are in doing your contract but something that has come up with a few Moon Palace brides is different contract wording. Make sure you get a TA that will write your contract for number of rooms time 3 nights or number of room nights. With 20 rooms times 3 you get the free upgraded event. With 25 rooms times 3 you get unlimited free functions. My TA had it with number or rooms (i.e. 20 times 3 nights) or number of paid nights (60 nights). Our total rooms ended up dropping under 20 but because it was worded for room nights too, we got our free stuff for the wedding (of course, we are still working on the free nights but we got the other stuff).
-
Cici, My TA is still working on it. The last I heard, she got to the right department and it was being resolved. Our contract was written so our rooms nights (11 of them) were included in the count. Another bride from MP had a similar problem and she said she just had to get to the correct department before it was resolved. The Palace resorts are great! If something were to happen and us not get these 4 nights refunded, I would still do it again. All the other incentives (tours, spa, free wedding items) still make it an outstanding deal. Just our free reception and free cocktail hour with the number of rooms booked probably saved us several $K. I will keep this thread updated with the final outcome.

When you looking at printing some, check out the gallery wraps at Mpix.com. I had several of our engagement photos printed from here and they do an amazing job. I am still trying to decide which ones from the wedding we are going to get done.

I love MPix's Standouts and Gallery Wraps! Some places have you check a box that states you have the right to make the copy.... Makes it much easier. AND Walgreens gives you a "matte" option instead of a glossy option online!

Im presuming from your colours that you had the amber collection (this is the one that I am looking at for my wedding). Was the photographer good and what did you get for your package? Sorry about all the questions but I dont want to compromise on my photos as our parents wont be coming with us and I want to make sure that they can see great pics when we return. Rachx We had the old deluxe package. I didn't even know it included decor in the gazebo and was pleasantly surprised. Our package included a basic photography package that we did upgrade. See below! We specifically requested David Pena. He was our phtographer. Originally, we were going upgrade to a package that would bring him back for a couple hours of reception. If I remember correctly, it would of been and extra $845. After really thinking about it, we decided to only do a small upgrade of $220 that gave us more photos (500) and a 64 page album with larger prints. David did a fantastic job of our wedding photos and photos after the wedding. BUT I am still regretting not having a destination photagrapher team come with us and take pictures of our couple days events and all day the wedding day. I have seen several other brides that brought in their photographers for two or three days of events (usually and man and woman team that spends the entire wedding day with you and DH and attends your other events before and after the wedding) and they truly have photos to share with ones that didn't come. I have some great photos from friends but there are still those special ones that I didn't think to take nor did anyone else take. A professional would of probably captured those things. Again, I was VERY satisfied with David....... Also we got a DVD of the entire wedding and photo shoot afterwards. We love sharing that with everyone that couldn't make it.

After reading what you all say we are definitely going to have an indoor reception! The outdoor ones look so pretty but if they are running to AC after just the ceremony there is no way they will want to stay outside to eat and dance! Next step is to find a dress that I will not melt in! lol! if it is that hot then I have to get something really light because there are some dresses that are so big and heavy I sweat just walking to get out of the fitting room! It is very breezy but that and the shade help make things bearable in the summer months. We are from Texas...... and Cancun was a nice beak for our crew. It has been over 100 degrees here with no breeze for a couple months. But even with that said, if your in the sun with no shade mid afternoon to about 5:30 or so, It is hot.... breeze or no breeze. I loved my dress...... It was the ONLY dress I found that had some bling but only weighed about 15 lbs vs 50. It was made out of a lite-weight taffeta that didn't wrinkle, held it's shape, washed easily (someone spilled a Sangrita [tomato & other juices] on it right after the wedding and it washed out in the bathroom with no stain), and even looked great after me and the rest of the wedding party jumped in the pool!! I don't even think I broke a sweat in the dress.

Angela, I responded to your PM. I am not sure Dina comes into Moon Palace. I did inquire about her trash the dress shoots but they would of been outside Moon Palace. There are several photographers that Moon Palace uses and I haven't heard complaints about the others. A lot of girls on this forum do use David because of his reviews here. The only thing I have heard recently is that the resort is wanting you to get the larger packages if you request David. There are many of Davids shots in the link in my siggy called Our Wedding Day Slideshow. If I put some others up, I will let you know. Are there any type shots in particular you would like to see because I have close to 500 shots? I think if you check Honeys post, she posted a lot of Davids Shots on hers.

Don't know if this will help but you may also want to read through the Moon Palace thread. Me and several other brides got married there last month and it is amazing, relaxed, and we didn't see many children. Also, one of the recent brides, got married at Moon Palace and Honeymooned at La Blanc. She was just talking about it on some of the last Moon Palace thread pages. You may be able to PM her and ask some questions.

He wants the beach and says it is our wedding so the guests can sweat a little. If we have a beach wedding in August around 5pm will it still be unbearably hot? In August, 5:00 is still VERY HOT without shade. Our cocktail hour started at 5:00. It cools down quickly starting about 5:30 or so, but at 5:00 it was very warm. Several nights before the wedding, we would go out and test it. We had a lot of shade and the breeze off the ocean so we felt everyone could stand it for an hour.............. We didn't have to worry though..... It was overcast on our wedding day and started raining about 5:15 so the cocktail hour got moved under the gazebo. Earlier in the day, the wedding office called and asked us to move our reception inside (which was what we wanted originally but didn't want to have to pay extra) so our day worked out perfect without the heat.

The one we signed really just had the wedding time and marriage requirements. Am I missing something? Thanks! Hope everyone is having a great day!!! I would definitely check on that. If you will look on the Palace Resort website under weddings, it specifiacally lists the free stuff you get. We got a free coctail hour, free reception and 4 nights free. Make sure your travel agent knows how to work contracts. Some only get contracts with total number of rooms times 3 nights. Ours and several other brides TAs wrote us to where it was worded rooms times 3 nights or tiotal number of room nights. The total number of room night clause enabled us to keep our free stuff because we dropped below 20 rooms. We signed two different things. One reserving the date and putting our wedding deposit down and the other was the actual contract that outlined the details of the free items. RECOMMENDATION: Get you a good TA that is familiar with destination weddings and contracts. Our TA was a godsend over and over..... and still is working out a last issue for us!

But my question is, with the day pass they say on the website they can only stay in til 11pm - are they strict on this?? We had 8 people come in from outside. MP has a rule they only allow 20% of the number of guests staying at MP into the resort on day passes. We had 34 staying at the hotel and had to get an exception for 8 people. It did end up working out for us and our WC even got our guests one comp room to share and use for the day. They were very strict about them leaving immediately after your last events though. Our events were from 1:30 to 10:00 so they got their money's worth. During our wedding, MP didn't allow guests to stay only one night. The minimum was two nights.

They owe us around $1450. I am going to give my TA a couple more days though. We didn't realize that we hadn't got it refunded till about a week ago due to the fact my DH paid for all of it on one of his ccs and he was out of the country without internet access for several weeks after the wedding. Hopefully, it will be resolved quickly without me having to have a fit with them. I haven't seen or heard of any problems like this before so hopefully, it is just a matter of dealing with the correct department.

Not sure where to post and did post it a couple places. Did any of you prior Palace brides or TAs have any problems with the items promised in a Palace group contract? Our contract read if we had 20 rooms times 3 nights OR 60 total room nights, the hotel agrees to provide a complimentary private function (our reception) plus 4 complimentary nights. They did inform us before hand that the nights would not be deducted from our bill but refunded afterwards. It also read if we had 25 rooms times 3 nights or 75 room nights and the hotel agrees to provide unlimited private functions plus 7 complimentary nights. We had 62 room nights and are having a problem getting the refund for the complimentary nights. They did give us our private function the day of the wedding but now Palace is telling us if they comp the 4 rooms nights we no longer have the 60 nights. Did anyone else have this problem? The contract our TA provided us seems to be pretty clear on this. It states 60 paid room nights, not 64 so they can deduct 4 and still have 60. Our TA is currently trying to get to the bottom of this issue too.

I am a little concerned at how competant she is going to be if she can't even reply to my questions on email. Thanks for the feedback Angela, If you will read back through this thread, you will find a lot of that. The WCs at the resort don't really correspond with you much until it is closer to your wedding due to the fact they have so many weddings every week. I didn't start corresponding with mine till about 1 1/2 month before but everything worked out great. My WC was never good about replying to email but she would call me occasionally the last month and all was taken care of with the phone calls.

I did add about $2,000 worth of add-ons though - so it was essentially like I purchased a package!!! WC present or not, it was still a great time and everything was organized for the most part. I did eventually get all my stuff back! Good to hear Nina!! Did you get you custom ring bowl back?

Bluesun, I responded to your other post too! Check out the review section and do a search for either "Moon Palace" and MP. I think there are reviews under both from recent brides. There are quite a few recent brides still posting to this thread too. Just a quick note, make sure you get your contract written correctly with them (I would suggest going with a TA that is familiar with this). You get free events and free nights with number or rooms and/or total room nights booked. Make sure your contract reads either because some brides didn't get their contracts written this way. We originally qualified for the unlimited private events (almost 30 rooms) but with the swine flu and economy issues, our rooms dropped down to below 20 rooms. Fortunately, our contract read number of rooms for 3 or more nights OR total room nights. We ended up having a cocktail hour and 5 hour reception at no additional cost...... AND we are also getting a refund for 4 nights of our stay.
