I tried to get my TA to put a higher percentage in the contract but she said it doesn't matter b/c they usually don't give people a hard time. Is that true? I was so angry at my fi for picking a place that no one can afford... why is MP so expensive he assures me it is worth it and that everything will be wonderful. I hope he is right! We went over the 20% by one or two but I knew this well in advance and got my TA to help me get approval. Once I had it in writing. I didn't have to worry any more. There are strict rules on when they can come in and when they have to leave so I would recommend you start talking to them now and if you can't get anything in writing warn your guest that there may be problems. As far as the price of the resort, it was worth every penny spent. This place is amazing!!

They set up the party on the terrace overlooking the pools and the ocean. It is a more casual fun type of dinner. Trattoria has great food and is a white table cloth, formal type of dinner that is inside. It is also located by the golf course which is not near the ocean at all. We were glad we went with Arrecifes because we were wanting a more casual fun atmosphere.

Woodsylou, We took the approach that we didn't want to do much once we got to MP. We had a three hour session with our wedding coordinator the day after we arrived (Monday), and never worried much about it after that point. If you don't want to make decisions on things like location, flowers, etc., just pick a package and ask your WC to make those decisions for you. Nibsmom brought and used their IPOD and docking station during part of their wedding. I think she talked about it a few pages ago. We brought ours but only used it in the room and at the pool. We rented the music system ($400), because we had a group of over 40 people the day of the wedding.

Welcome to all you new MP brides!!! If you will look in my review (link below my siggi pic), I used David Pena. I also originally looked into Tamms Photography but they were already booked for my weekend. I love artsy photography and this is the one area I would of changed and that has been a big issue after the wedding. (I've shed many a tear, as a matter of fact). Don't get me wrong, David's work was good but it wasn't outstanding or artsy in any way. I had asked for some specific things, and he wasn't able to provide that. I did see where he did some of the things I asked of him for another bride, Honey, one week later. I guess he went and figured it out the week following our wedding. Looking back I should of found a destination Photographer from the outside to document the main nights of the event and all day of the wedding. We probably should have also done a trash the dress session (I had talked to Claudia about this but we chose not too due to budget). I didn't feel we got any good photos (the quality I demand) from the event. It has been such a sore subject, DH and I are just now, four months later, going to go through our photos from the day of the wedding and hopefully find something we can blow up to a canvas size. I was so upset and disappointed, I couldn't even look through our photos until recently and I had to stop looking through other peoples on this thread that did what we should of done. A bit of advise to all of you. If you know in advance some part of your wedding is going to be important to you, make sure you do it even if it pushes your budget. I knew that photography was THAT but I let our budget and DH talk me out of this part of it and it has turned out to be the BIGGEST mistake. Fortunately, The rest of our wedding was so perfect, and I am now married to best friend and love of my life. I just don't have any great photos to document our great time.

And the receipt thing is that for real cause i didnt save any for the things i bought? Angela, There are lots of posts pertaining to receipts. There are templates out there that you can create new ones for yourself. You and your FI are limited to amounts of items so watch that closely. Off hand, I can't remember for sure how much it is but am thinking it was like $300 worth of stuff per person. We got questioned heavily about the wedding stuff and I kept saying , I only had $100 worth of wedding stuff and the rest was personal. When he finally pushed the light, we got a green so didn't get checked. I made sure I had all the receipts handy though, just in case.

I heard that you need biodegradable to swim with the dolphins, is this true? Where do you get them? What about sunscreen for your hair? I get married next month and I am beginning to PANIC. Fabi, CAKE-CUTTING: We brought our own cake cutting set that was engraved. Several brides before me stated they only give you a knife that resembles a large butter knife for the cake. CENTER PIECES: We didn't bring any and they provided decor at every function. The only thing extra we bought for decor was orange table runners. They did the rest. They actually used our extra fans from the wedding as part of the reception decor. They placed them around glass certerpieces they provided for free. It was very clever. FAVORS: We gave all our favors in our OOT bags. The only extra we brought for the wedding were the fans. Quote: Originally Posted by mrseddy T Just how windy was it when you were there? If you are getting married in am open gazebo, you face away from the ocean and the breeze is coming in from behind you. We chose to hand out our bags before the trip down. We were glad we did it this way because it just made everything a little easier and less stressful before the wedding. AND we didn't have to have so much to bring with us. We took clothes for 11 days, beach towels, our ceremony stuff (Sand ceremony items & fans), tons of suncreen, thank you cards and envelopes, and the makings for a couple extra bags (we had some extra guests show up and this was good). We had two large suitcases each, our carry-ons and my dress.

It captured so much of the wedding and afterwards. It is a very nice thing to have for memories. Tina

All, We FINALLY received our complimentary night refund today.... Almost three months after the wedding. The amount is wrong but we received all but $230 of it this morning. Now, our TA is checking on why we didn't get all of it. DH and I have said all along it was a bonus because we were so thrilled with everything about the moon palace, and the wedding AND we did receive the coctail hour and receiption/dance for free. It is nice to get though....... (hehe!!) I've had that money earmarked for some new flooring downstairs in our house.... !!! YEAH!!

You can change the script but I have heard that you take a chance of getting someone performing the ceremony that have language barriers when they stray from their normal wording. Our WC recommended we change as little a possible. We ended up changing the vows only and adding the sand ceremony and got someone that could read English very well.

Is there any way you can get some to change their minds? I have heard they are running some specials at Moon Palace for the fall, maybe that will extend to February.

It was HOT in the sun during the day. It wasn't that bad at all if you were in the shade with the breeze..... BUT, I wouldn't have wanted to have something during the day outside. We live in Austin, Texas where we had almost two months of over 100 degree days with humidity and no breeze. It was a nice break for us in July. We got there 6 days before the wedding and checked out the site every afternoon starting at five. We were planning to have both the cocktail hour and the reception/dance outside starting at 5. We felt the coctail hour would of been a little hot but by 6 it really started getting more pleasant. I hope this helps.

For our group in July, outside would have probably worked because we are from Texas and came from hotter than Cancun weather was BUT my group really appreciated the A/C during the reception. We were originally planning on having both our coctail hour and reception/dance at the Bugabillias terrace due to extra costs to us to move it indoors (our coctail hour was planned outside too and it was all included with the number of roomnights - we couldn't have one outside and one inside without paying for a another event). Due to rain, we were able to move the reception/dance indoors for free so everyone was quite happy. The ballroom we had was off the Nizuk Lobby and overlooked the pools and the ocean. It was great to have the views and the A/C.

I have never read that MP turned anyone away but if I were you get something in writing as soon as you can that you can bring in extra people. We went over our percentage by one person and until I had it in writing, I was very nervous. We had 35 staying at the resort and 8 coming in on day passes. Also, since we had so many coming in for the day, our WC got us a comp room for the day of the wedding. It was very nice for our guests to have a place to change, nap, store their items, etc. It was very nice for them.

You can sort of see the link in this photo. LINK! You can use the magnifying icon at the bottom to make it a little bigger. I get fills every three weeks, usually during my lunch hour. They are truly extensions of your existing lashes. Your natural lashes only last a little more than a month so the extensions fall off with your natural lashes cycle, thus the reason for the fills. They use a surgical glue to apply them to each individual lash. They have assorted lengths in pre-curled to straight lashes. If you are going to try it, I would recommend you start a couple months before the wedding so you can get a couple fills and figure out what you like. I went with a little longer for the wedding. p.s. At first, I tried a place that didn't specialize in lashes (it was where I get my nails done). They put some pre-woven clusters of lashes on my eyes and used a very toxic glue. They were horrible. I changed to someone that used the high quality surgical glue and the individual lashes and they are outstanding. They really made the 11 days in Mexico easier for me and my life easier since I have got back. I don't know if I will ever stop wearing them. -

And will concealer get rid of bags under your eyes? I almost always have them. Thanks for your help girls. I went with eyelash extensions so I didn't have to wear mascara or liner the entire time we were in Mexico. And the best part, no worries if tears are shed. I love them so much that I am still wearing them. This is the first time in my life I don't have to spend so much time lining my eyes and putting on several coats of mascara. -

A friend of mine going to the wedding is a DJ so he's going to DJ the reception and put the music together for the ceremony and the cocktail hour. What kind of equipment do they have to rent? Is there a microphone? Can he hook his laptop up the the system? and for the ceremony is it just a cd player? Also who should I make an appointment with to do my hair for the wedding? We rented the ipod docking system for the reception but it also had a laptop hooked up to it. It did include a microphone. We did the Mariachi Band for the wedding and they knew what music to play when. Several of the summer brides on here had Doris in the Nizuk salon. She was amazing. Definitely find a photo of what you want. They will duplicate it exactly.

When I had several things we needed to addresss, I would write the email with all my questions then ask her to call me on the phone. Sometimes it took me resending the email a time or two but she did an outstanding job for us and not one detail was overlooked. If you have specific questions, let me know.

We also got lucky and had an overcast day mixed with some rain. I never broke a sweat. My dress was a very lite-weight dress so that helped too. BTW, if you look at the agenda on my bookmark, my entire crew met up in the Nizuk lobby bar between our wedding and cocktail hour so they all had A/C for the hot hours of the day. We also told people we didn't mind if they took a nap or did something else. Most came to the bar.

Angela, They are all listed here: Palace Wedding Promotions Make sure you get a TA that will write your contract for number of rooms time 3 nights or number of room nights. With 20 rooms times 3 you get the free upgraded event. With 25 rooms times 3 you get unlimited free functions. My TA had it with number or rooms (i.e. 20 times 3 nights) or number of paid nights (60 nights). Our total rooms ended up dropping under 20 but because it was worded for room nights too, we got our free stuff for the wedding (of course, we are still working on the free nights but we got the other stuff).
