  1. Hi everyone! I already posted as a newbie, but at the time, I didn't have a resort booked - now I do!!!! ) Example User Name: TandDJamaica09 Name: Toni and Darren Location: RIU Ocho Rios Wedding: July 20, 2009 Honeymoon: Sandals Dunn's River in JA: 07/16/09 - 07/28/09 Anyone who wants to chat about RIU, has some info to share or just wants to keep an open network, please PM me or email me at [email protected]! Thanks!
  2. Hi!! I am very excited to be a Jamaica bride and to be a part of this forum! Name: Toni Fiance: Darren Wedding date: July 18, 2009 Location: RIU Ocho Rios OR Beaches Boscobel (haven't decided - so please help!) Honeymoon: Sandals (either Negril or Dunn's River) I obviously have just started the planning of this wedding and I am very nervous! Thanks for all the help so far!
  3. THANK YOU for posting this! I have been debating between Beaches and RIU for a long time now, and I think I just made up my mind! Your pictures are absolutely amazing!!! You look so beautiful and HAPPY! I would like to ask, if you don't mind, about some costs. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to, or you could PM me instead, but I am trying to keep costs down since my FI and I are teachers and paying for this ourselves! Here are my cost questions: How much did it cost for: Michael for two hours: (did he include prints, digital negatives, album) Video for ceremony: Reception dinner: Disco rental: Decorations: (flowers, aisle runner...etc) Hair and makeup: Any info you could give me would help so much! THANK YOU! Toni
  4. Hi! I am also a July 2009 Jamaica bride! We still haven't chosen a resort yet - yikes! I keep going back and forth! What made you choose RIU Ocho Rios? That is one of our options, as well as Sandal's Grande Ocho Rios and Beaches Boscobel. What made you choose Riu? Are you having a beach wedding or garden? Did they send you any location pics? If so, can you share? If RIU has given you any info, would you mind sharing so I can make my decision! ) Thanks and congratulations! Toni
  5. Hi! I am planning to get married in Ocho Rios, Jamaica in July 2009. My travel agent had helped me narrow down the resort to: Sandals Dunn's River, Beaches Boscobel, and Riu Ocho Rios. I am a teacher (as are many of my friends), so I am looking for affordability, but also a place that has a lot to do and will allow me to have a private reception after my ceremony without breaking my budget. I really love Sandal's Dunn's River and I could definitely see myself getting married there, but the problem is, I don't quite understand what this would mean for my single friends (my maid of honor and sister in particular since they are obviously VIPs!). Do they have to pay double for a room since they are singles? Is there a special room rate for two people? My travel agent told me there are no "double" rooms with two beds, but there has to be a way around this. Kids are not an issue, because if my FI's sister brings her kids, they are going to stay at Beaches if we get married at Sandal's. I just don't want my single friends/family to feel awkward! P.S. I cannot tell you how much this forum has already helped me! You ladies are all AMAZING!
  6. Hi!!!! My name is Toni and my wonderful fiance's name is Darren and we are in the process of planning our DW in Jamaica for July 2009 (leaning toward the 18th). Mostly because of pricing, we are planning to get married in Ocho Rios and then move to Negril for our honeymoon. To all who have done their research or been married in Ocho Rios, please share with me any advice you have about these resorts: RIU Ocho Rios Beaches Boscobel Sandal's Dunn's River Sandal's Grande Ocho Rios I love the photos I have seen of Dunn's River, but the problem with using a Sandal's is that I have some friends and family who are single, and I don't want them to feel our of place or slighted in any way (or to have to pay a lot more for the resort). We will have possibly 20 guests from what people have told us. My fiance's sister wants to bring her two kids (ages 2 and , but I don't want kids at the wedding, so that is another small issue. I haven't found much info on the forum about being married at a Beaches resort. Does anyone have info about that resort? Do I post stuff about Beaches in the Sandals/Couples thread? Sorry to be so all over the place! Thanks for any help anyone can give and I hope to return the favor as I get more familiar with this process!
