  1. One of the venues we are considering charges $65 per person for tastings however they will credit us that cost if we select them for the wedding. I feel comfortable with that arrangement knowing that they must have numerous inquiries for tastings without contracts in place. Your situation however is not ok given that you have already committed to that establishment. I hope they respond favorably to your email, if not, I would suggest asking for some other compensations. Good luck!

    Newbie

Congratulations Ariel and welcome to the forum. I am also a newbie and learning my way around all this fabulous information. Northern California is a great place to be wed. Are you considering a winery in Napa or perhaps something coastal?
  4. For me, it's all about Brooks tennis shoes. I have a weak ankle and need lots of support when jogging and was advised by a foot doctor to check out Brooks, New Balance, Asics, and Sacony.
  5. Very important question. First and foremost it is very important for us that we do not break the bank with a wedding and therefore we want to do everything we can to avoid accumulating too much debt. We both have a small amount set aside that will be used to pay for things upfront, but we are also doing the same thing as "calchik". We are contributing to a shared account monthly and using those funds to pay for a bulk of our expenses.
  6. Those are wonderful photos. You guys look great together and clearly have a playful nature.
  7. I've had the same concerns and I look forward to hearing the responses from folks who have already done this.
  8. You are a good friend. Perhaps you could create a red signature cocktail to add to the decor and flavor of the shower and give it a fun name. Champagne cosmo, sangria, or add fresh cranberries/raspberries to a beverage. You can provide both alcoholic and non-alcoholic signature drinks.
  9. I agree with everyone; knowing what worked well and not so well in the OOT bags is very helpful. Being new to the forum, I have only just started to think of these things, but I have debated as to which kind of OOT bag will be most useful for guests so as to not be wasteful (tote or durable paper bag). I also think creating a DIY Spanish translation book/handout will be something we will attempt. I'm looking forward to hearing more from the veterans on this forum.
  10. That does sound complicated. I think it would be fine to do something similar to what hmk012 (Holly) sugessted but take into consideration the divorce of your FI's parents. Such as "son of Mr. xx and Mrs. yy". If you don't want to be so specific, I think it would also be ok to say that both of your families invite your guests to celebrate in your wedding and keep it general.
  11. That dress is fantastic! I am now going to have to consider it for myself as well. Great choice!

    Greetings!

Hello Everyone, Great Forum! We're not sure when our big event will be but we are considering Fall 2009. We are interested in the Mayan Riviera, most likely south of Akumal but are just in the research stage of things. We are excited to be here and learn from everyone!
