So far, we have 48 people confirmed, so we decided to skip the cocktail hour. From what I hear, the beach where the reception will be set up is behing the Tower and there is a lobby bar in there. I figured while we took pictures, our guests could have drinks there. If you skip the cocktail hour, they will also give you 15 more people for dinner, so that covers 35 in total.

So after thinking over the exchanges that were offered, I was feeling like they were not at all comparable. I did a quick cost analysis , which I emailed to Cecilia, that basically showed the original cost of what was included in the package vs. the cost of the exchange and the variance. It turns out that the value of what I was offered was more than $1,000 less than what was originally offered. I was able to use this information to negotiate an extra hour at the reception at no cost. So, my reception is now going to run 4 hours, which I couldn't be happier about! 3 hours is just too short considering that dinner will probably take close to an hour. I also asked her about using the sound system. Some girls on the site mentioned that there was someone there to runt he sound system for them. However, I was informed that this will not be the case and that we will be responsible for running the music. Lastly, I inquired about having a rehearsal dinner and received menus for Himitsu, Oceana and Seaside. If anyone would like to see these, send me a message and I can email them to you.

I actually have the wedding coordinator that replaced Gaby and she seems to be pretty responsive. She answers questions within a couple days at least. I asked her a couple questions the other day and thought I would post the answers. They might help someone: 1. What are the options for a rehearsal dinner? First about your rehearsal dinner, if you want a private area in any of the restaurants we have, for been private has extra charge for $12 usd + 15%serv +10%tax per person, even for children. 2. I have 4 children attending the wedding. Can you please tell me what the price per child is? The prices for the children are half price from the charge for additional people. Wich is $42 usd +15%serv + 10%tax per adult so is $21 usd +15%serv +10%tax per child. 3. Do you think a wedding on the beach at the beginning of November is going to be too windy? About the wind, November is kind of windy, but you have a good time, 4:30 – 7:30 at the beach will be fine, but we can wait to see how the weather is when you arrive to the hotel.

I emailed her like 30 good questions, so as soon as she responds I will post them here for everyone to read!! : shots: When I asked about using outside vendors, I was told no, but I know girls in the past have used other florists. I feel like everyone gets a different answer.

I have 5 kids coming and would love to know if there is a different rate. Thanks!

I aksed Gaby about extending the reception and she told me that I could but it is $15 usd + 15% service +10% tax per person per hour!! That is so crazy! It also can't go past 11pm. I really feel like the reception should be at least 4 hours. By the time everyone eats dinner and gets up and moving on the dance floor, there will only be 1 1/2 hours left, which goes by so quickly. I think I read somewhere that one of the brides just continued on with the reception and another said that they moved the party into the lobby bar since there is music in there.

I just heard from Gabriela two days ago and she didn't mention that she was leaving. I am surprised that they don't reach out to the clients, although I guess that shouldn't surprise me since they are so over worked. I just hope that all the exchanges I discussed with Gabriela are honored by the new wedding coordinator. Has anyone booked an external photographer?

I need a Cancun photographer!!
mc5363 replied to mc5363's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Wedding Vendors
Thanks for the suggestions! I would really love to talk to people who used photographers in the area. I was all ready to book one and then emailed with someone on the site and was completely turned off by her experience. It's just so nerve racking! -
Who did you use for your photographer? I am struggling with that decision.

Hi ladies, I am hoping that someone will be able to help me out. I am looking for a photographer to use at Dreams Cancun in November. I have been looking at a bunch of websites and doing searches, but picking off the internet makes me nervous. Can anyone who was married in Cancun give me a suggestion? Thanks for the help!

I chose Dreams Cancun for my wedding. I love the idea that it's in Cancun and central to so many activities. Since there will a large age range among our guests, I wanted to cater to many different interests. I have read rave reviews about Dreams on this website and all of the pictures and brochures look stunning! Plus, it was really important to me to be able to have my reception right on the bach. Dreams sets everything up on the beach including a dance floor. I just figured that since I was having a destination wedding, I'd like it to be as unique as possible. I love that it is all inclusive so the guests only have to worry about cost at the time of booking. The rates offered are very reasonable and I have found that a lot more people are coming to the wedding than we originally anticipated becuase of affordability. It's a tough decision to make especially when you are doing it rather blindly. It's scary to plan a wedding at a place you have never seen, but this website helped me a ton. Good luck and happy planning!

Thanks for the warning! That is so stressful.

I am getting married in November 2009 and Gaby said that it was ok for me to bring in an outside photographer. She also said that all I have to do is send her the photographer's name and he/she wouldn't have to pay for a day pass. If anyone is looking for a photographer, I have been compiling a list of packages and prices. In terms of the cocktail hour, I traded mine for 15 more people at dinner. Many brides have said that the lobby bar is great and that their guests hung out there for an hour while the bridal party took pictures.
