I def like it better than the 2nd, though I see why you liked that too. I also want to have the train fabric removed from underneath the lace. I think it'll look cool on the sand with just the lace.
  2. I think they'll look great together! I really like the idea of having different/coordinating colors for the dresses. We ordered the same dress (chiffon w/ asymmetrical hem) for our 3 BM's in pool, canary & clover and the three girls look so pretty standing next to each other.
  3. Those are adorable! Love the stamps idea and I just read her 'about me' page of the blog & she seems really great.
  4. Those are so super cute!!! I love Marshalls & TJs!! I can't believe the deal you found!
  5. wow! I am very impressed - great job!! If I had a sewing machine I'd be all over that! Thanks for taking the time to share your how-to!
  6. love love love those dresses! Great find & how cool they price-adjusted for you! hooray!
  7. Well Mexico is certainly a fab option, but I might be just a tad biased. There are sooo many great threads to help you plan - be sure to check out the Mexico & Riviera Maya ones for some great ideas! Have fun!!!
  8. Hey K! So glad you had such a great experience! Definitely a good idea to try on a bunch more dresses, but at least you found one you really like already! Sounds like a great day! -long post alert- So, my story isn't really all that funny; more annoying with funniness sprinkled in, but I had to laugh about the nonsense (some of it my own). First, back in Jan. I went to RK Bridal & had an attendant who was nice, but somewhat blunt, and she told me I was looking at all the wrong dress styles for my "womanly" body type. nice. Great way to start off by telling me I'm a fat-ass, right? I had been looking at lace, sort of straight/sheath or minimally trumpet styles & thought they'd be good for curves (& still do) but she was trying to convince me to get a bigger a-line style. I kept insisting I didn't want a big dress and was clear from the beginning that I wanted a beachy, light, minimally bedazzled dress since we're getting married on the beach in MX. It was like she didn't hear me! ugg. I stayed open-minded and tried all her crap on, but knew I wasn't getting any of them. I had pretty much given up on the idea of a lace sheath-style from that one visit which was kinda depressing since I had really thought that's what I wanted, but whatever. So, fast forward like 6 months & I decide to try again; this time at Macy's. I already have a bug up my butt about Macy's that's totally unrelated, but this visit DID NOT help change my opinion. I had an appt & brought a friend w/ me and the attendant (and I use this term very loosely) was ridiculous. She asked me what I was looking for (which is fine) & I told her "getting married on a beach - think beachy, chiffon maybe, light-weight, & simple". I start looking through their gowns and one is worse than the next. Like one in the whole store is anything close to what I'm looking for. They're all designed by 1 dude who seems to approach gown design/embellishment like a kindergarten abstract painter. It looked like beading & lace & crap was literally just thrown on. He'd have a semi-pretty dress and then totally ruin it with random appliques or something gross. It actually was so funny my friend & I couldn't stop giggling. The attendant brought me some gowns, mostly big poof-monsters (one of which was bright pink), even though I had told her that's not what I wanted, because she really didn't have anything else to offer. Then at one point she says to me "honey, if you don't tell me what you want I really can't help you". Seriously?!? ha! We left the store laughing. Then I tried David's Bridal in Manhattan and that was just a joke all around. First of all, who decides it's a good idea to go try on wedding dresses after they get their eyes dilated at the optometrist?!? Yeah, that's right. I do. I seriously couldn't even see my watch much less details on a wedding dress but I had the appt so I stumbled myself over there. It didn't help that the salesgirl couldn't be bothered to help me so I lugged dresses around and picked what I thought I wanted (mind you I still couldn't really see!). So I tried on like 3 dresses & figured there was no point so I left. Why do I do this to myself? The story ends well though. In the beginning of July my two friends who've been going shopping w/ me decided we needed to go looking in NJ since one of them had a car for the weekend. So last minute I call a David's Bridal in Paramus to see if they have an appt for that same day and they did so we went. And it was really really nice! I felt like I was in a real bridal salon instead of the Mickey-D's of bride stores. The lady helping me was wonderful & really listened to me. I tried on a bunch of dresses - even some crazy ones my friends picked that I never would've tried. Anyway, long story short I found my dress! And it was $100 off! yay! I ordered it the same day and it came in like 2 weeks later so I already have it and I keep trying it on. Funny thing is, it's exactly like what I started out wanting in the first place. Here's the dress Sorry for the long post!! Definitely let us know how the dress-hunt goes! K~
  9. Wow! Good job finding a great location for a great deal so quickly! Sorry the WC was such a pain - you certainly didn't need that, but it sounds like you'll have a beautiful day. I'm sure it is meant to be and it'll be wonderful that more people can share your special day with you two!
  10. Hi Christina. Maybe you posted on another thread, but what happened that you're not going to Bermuda? Hope everything's OK and turns out beautifully for your NJ wedding!
  11. Congratulations Kelly! What an accomplishment - you guys must feel so proud! The house is adorable & I love the porch! Just think - this will be the last time you have to move for a VERY long time!!!
  12. We're still sorting it out, but right now it's between Into The Mystic (Van Morrison) & The One I Love (David Gray), which has sort of been our song all along. Though I also really love Con te partiro (Andrea Bocelli)
  13. Hiya girls, any consensus about where to go? And is Fri the 11th still good for everyone?
  14. Hi girls! I just moved from Chicago to NYC last year for school, but I miss it soooo much! Saw your thread so I thought I'd say hi. I'm originally from Oak Park, though for the last few years before moving out here I lived on the N side of the city in Edgewater (Sheridan & Foster). I was just home for a few weeks to visit and it was so great to be home & then I had to come back to NYC bugs & humidity & a super that won't fix anything in my apt. ugg! Good luck planning & enjoy your get-together!!
  15. Like most of you girls, we're not doing a ton of planning either other than for OOT bags & bridal party gifts; not bringing any decorations, etc. Giving some thought to menu & flower ideas but all those details won't be decided til we get there. We did hire an outside photog & are considering a dj, but we'll see. Part of the DW experience, for us, is liberating yourself from the OCD planning that can easily go along w/ having a traditional wedding (although I'm obsessively addicted to this site!!)

  17. Wow! What a wonderful story & super romantic!! Congratulations to you both! Any thoughts about whether you'll have the wedding in Antigua?

  19. Can't remember if I ever posted mine before, so here is the e-ring FI helped design we just ordered our bands yesterday so here's mine (but having it designed w/ diamonds all the way around in an eternity band) and FI's (has a fine milgrain finish on either side of the hammered metal that matches my e-ring)
  20. Yep, I was right - FI had no clue at all about getting eachother gifts! Ha! I brought it up yesterday by asking what he'd like as a wedding gift and he was like what? From who? He thought about registry gifts or something. He was like 'people give eachother gifts? Isn't getting married a gift enough?' I said yes, some people do get eachother gifts. Then he said 'oh. well then YOU know what I want - pictures!'. And I told him there was no way - it's too expensive & I'm too much of a prude. Hopefully he'll forget about it. Probably should've never brought it up in the first place.
  21. Beautiful dress! I think it depends on how much you love it. I'd say go for it if you love it or you're getting married in a church - it adds a very Mexican feel & it's lovely. But if you're hesitant at all then that's probably a good indication to spend your money elsewhere.
  22. Thanks Jess! I know, we just love his style & feel sooooo lucky to have him! We were going back & forth between him & some others who cost less, but decided that the pics are what last longest (besides the rings) so that's where we're splurging. Can't wait, especially for the TTD the next day!
  23. I also tried on dresses in both ivory & white. My friends & the attendant at the store said I could go either way but I ended up ordering my dress in ivory (but I can't tell the difference unless I hold something really bright white up next to the dress). It's totally personal preference & what looks best on you! I wouldn't worry about it not looking good on the sand - any color will look great!
  24. what about this iron-on? You can contact the seller to change it to another color or to say whatever you'd like. I think it'd fit on the butt of the shorts & iron-ons are really easy - you literally just get your iron really hot (without steam) and press it on. Plus you can't beat the price! Just Married 09 Wedding Honeymoon iron-on T-shirt decal - eBay (item 370245564925 end time Sep-13-09 15:40:06 PDT) found this one too http://cgi.ebay.com/Just-Married-Wed...QQcmdZViewItem

The Bridal Superstore - Just Married Board Shorts - FOR HIM or maybe just buy plain ones & bedazzle them yourself w/ iron-on letters? Not sure what you & FI want for the guys, but I think this is what we're having ours wear (w/ tan linen pants): here's the website (& they'll do custom embroidery colors) Guayabera shirts, Mexican Wedding Shirts, Beach Wedding Attire, Beach Wedding Dress, Wedding Jewelry, Wedding Shirts
