  1. poo! Could you possibly have it on another night? The fabric is included as part of the decoration of the chuppah. They have a few to choose from, but if you want something specific you could always bring your own. Adding flowers or other decorations that they supply may cost extra, but I'm not sure. We went with a shear ivory & brought capiz shell curtains to hang from the back. Our WC (Rebeca) hung them up w/o an extra charge.
  2. I did one of these a few years ago for my friend's shower. Mine didn't turn out as good as these, but it was still so fun to make & I'd totally do it again! I didn't roll the diapers cuz I wanted to make sure she'd be able to use them. Next time, tho, I think I'd make the bottom layer bigger & I might try rolling them. here's a pic 11-11-11, let us know if you end up doing one for the shower
  3. Having had a session with Jen last year, I can tell you that you will NOT be disappointed! I went on my own, so even without the group discount it's totally worth it! You're going to have a blast!
  4. 9:30?!? That's ridiculous! Did they explain why? I think the reception included in the ultimate package is 4 hrs total, so start time may be a factor (?). BTW, the 10:30 cut-off is not exclusive to the beach at all so for those of you having your reception at las palmas I wouldn't be overly concerned. We were at las palmas til 10:45 and I think Autumn & Lauren were there even later. Just make sure you clarify times with the WC. m1984- The hotel has an outdoor curfew of 10:30 so outside parties have to stop then (I thought they had told us the parties with music, but might be all parties?). But, there's always the "sports" bar - they're open til 2, I believe, and the lobby bar is open til 1. We went to the sports bar after the wedding with an ipod & they let us take over the music in there. Worked out great. If you want to have your reception on the beach consist of the bonfire & your ipod I'd just double check with the WC to make sure it's OK (just tell her the music won't be loud). The bartender/waiter for the bonfire may cut off at 10:30, but maybe they'd let you extend it.

  6. I know there have been several threads about flushmount albums around here & I really wanted one, but couldn't afford an album through my photographer. In searching the forum I came across Michelle's (Simistar) diy album thread which referred me to BlackRiver Imaging. They're a really great company & have great products. They also have terrific customer service - really friendly people & eager to help, which was such a relief. Like Michelle, I had concerns about doing this myself since I have zero experience, but am thrilled with the results. thanks, Michelle, for the inspiration! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/55062/my-diy-flushmount-album-finally-review-with-pics http://www.blackriverimaging.com/default.asp just create a login (you can't see pricing unless you do) Luckily DH is pretty handy in Photoshop so we picked out the pics we wanted to use & he designed the layouts, in 12x24" canvas size, then saved them as jpegs. Then we just uploaded each jpeg to BRI's album manager (we ended up having to use their downloadable software to actually upload the jpegs b/c their website wasn't cooperating, but it worked just fine). The page design took FOREVER, but once we finished that the actual uploading & ordering took no time. We ordered the album on 11/30 and received it on 12/9. Then we turned around & ordered 2 parents books, tailoring each book a little to each side of the family, to give as a combo x-mas & thank-you gift. here are the details: We wanted a square flushmount album so we ordered the 12x12" Tuscany leather album in coffee bean. We had 14 double-spread pages that were 12x24" each (or 28 sides, each12x12"), which ended up costing $271 (2-day shipping was an extra $21, so $292 total). The parents albums were 8x8", also Tuscany leather in coffee bean. Those were 10 double pages, each 8x16" (or 20 sides, each 8x8") and cost $200 (plus $4 shipping). This is the pricing info from the website (just for Tuscany leather; they also have premium leather, which costs a bit more, or "leatherette", which is less). Tuscany Leather Prices Price Includes Cover with Minimum 20 Sides (includes images) Size Leather Additional Sides Max. Sides 8x8 $185.00 $5.50 70 10x10 $212.00 $6.50 70 12x12 $249.00 $7.50 70 11x14 $259.00 $7.50 70 Cover Options Price Custom Embossing (per line up to 3 lines) $6.00 Studio Embossing (inside back cover)* $6.00 Standard Album Box Included Premiere Album Box $20.00 Gilded Edges** $25.00 *Custom Embossing available in black, gold, and silver. **Gilded Edges available in metallic black, bright gold, marbled gold and marbled silver. 7. We do, we do!! Congrats on getting your dress - you look beautiful!
  8. We weren't rained out (5/29), but they say rainy season starts early June & sure enough we saw a wedding rained out on June 1st. They were setting up on the las palmas terrace until it started raining (fairly hard) and then they moved the reception to the seaside grill (which was closed for the wedding). We walked over there & it was set up beautifully! There was a theme night as well and that was moved to the ballroom near the preferred tower.
  9. here are a few from our reception in May. We didn't have extra decorations or lighting for the site, but did pay for the lounge furniture which many people enjoyed. Mexican Trio Cake table set-up centerpiece the bar set-up is behind the waiter & the appetizers were set up to our left
  10. Great job!! I love all of your personalized & crafty touches! You (& your friends) are extremely talented. I've seen those cake toppers on Etsy - does your friend have a shop there? Have a wonderful wedding!
  11. I did a shoot w/ vavoom last winter (w/ my bridesmaids). It was a ton of fun, but just make sure to get all of the details about what's included in writing.
  12. here are a few shots showing the shell curtains
  13. Thanks! Glad to share thank you! DH did it all by himself and we'll all love to read it! I bought them at shopwildthings.com, but I'm pretty sure they've been sold out of aqua for a while. http://www.shopwildthings.com/bambeadcur.html this ebay seller has 2 blue curtains that are square (I saw that another bride used these last year & they looked gorgeous) http://cgi.ebay.com/NIB-CAPIZ-CURTAIN-BLUE-HOME-TARGET-BEAUTIFUL-capiz-/280577765710?pt=Curtains_Drapes_Scarves_Valances&hash=item4153bcf14e and here are some I found in white http://www.shopwildthings.com/cashbecu1.html http://www.boutiqueful.com/pd-woodstock-capiz-shell-curtain--natural-white.cfm or if you're crafty you could buy the pre-drilled (or pre-strung) capiz shells & make your own http://compare.ebay.com/like/330500721143?ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&rvr_id=195854458200&crlp=1_263602_304662&UA=M*F%3F&GUID=6bd71b9c12d0a47a26b0cd80feb5f307&itemid=330500721143&ff4=263602_304662 hope that helps! No probs - we used 2 curtains & they spanned pretty much the entire chuppah/canopy structure (which was around 6 feet across). Lemme see if I have a picture...
  14. Great job! They're beautiful and I like that you have the 4 different jacket colors - happy accident And I really love the quote! Good luck w/ the rest of your wedding planning!
  15. Thanks so much girls! Do it! I highly recommend it - not just as a treat for your FI but it's a wonderful, empowering, experience & all women deserve to feel beautiful & glamorous!
  16. Congratulations!!! Can't wait to see pictures! Are you posting a review? I'm surprised they didn't deliver your wedding "certificate" to your room. Maybe email the wedding coordinator to see if they can send it to you. I know it's not the legal document, but you're right - a nice thing to have. A similar thing happened with my vows. I had them written out on a card & then put the it down on the table after saying them - DH saw Lucy pick them up so they wouldn't blow away, but after that they disappeared. We wrote her a note before we left & also emailed but she didn't remember even picking them up. Whatever. Not a huge deal, but DH wanted to keep them so I felt a little bad. And it's good to know about the bose speakers. A lot of people have been wanting to use them, but for whatever reason they didn't end up doing it (myself included) so it's nice to have someone report back about it. And now you have an awesome sound system for home We did the symbolic ceremony & it was definitely not obvious it wasn't legal. Even our parents, who were with us at our legal NYC ceremony the week before, considered our PV wedding to be the real deal. It just had so much more emotion & meaning to us and that really shined through. I'm sure the wedding coordinator can give you Lucy's email address. We didn't meet her, or even contact her, before our ceremony and it was totally fine. Better than fine, she did a fantastic job & made us feel special.
  17. CONGRATS MERVE!!!! Wonderful! You both looked so incredibly happy! thanks for the update
  18. I think they turned out great! And that's pretty much exactly what I did w/ our invites too Your guests will love them!
  19. Congratulations Jackie! So glad everything went smoothly & you had a perfect wedding!
  20. Thanks Camilla! I bought them here http://www.shopwildthings.com/liedbecuaqca.html I think they've been sold out for a while, but if you call them maybe they can either order more or point you in another direction. And you probably need 2 of them to hang across the back of whatever ceremony structure. I know white ones are around if you google "capiz shell curtain" here's one I found http://www.boutiqueful.com/pd-woodstock-capiz-shell-curtain--natural-white.cfm and here's 2 blue ones on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280577765710&rvr_id=169749652836&crlp=1_263602_304642&UA=M*F%3F&GUID=59957d6212c0a0aa17924192ff4a23a2&itemid=280577765710&ff4=263602_304642 And Janine on the forum also contacted a seller of the individual strands on Ebay & they ended up being able to make the curtains for her, so that might be an option too. Good luck!
  21. Congrats, Krista, & welcome! I know you've already checked out the Dreams PV thread, but let us know if you have any questions! I'm originally from Chicago too -- we're moving back next year & I can't wait! Have fun planning!
