I got engaged in May, and I knew right away I wanted a destination wedding. I have been searching for the right place for months, and we finally decided on the Barcelo Maya Palace!!!! SO excited! After weeks and weeks of waiting we finally got the wedding date we wanted put on hold! Now what I am playing around and attempting to do my own Save the Dates (passports), but I honestly don’t know what all to include! This is all so new to me and I’m starting to feel a little overwhelmed! DONT PANIC! We've all been there or are going through it and we're here to help so you've come to the right place! You really dont need all that much info for an S.T.D and as I've found out from experience, dont stress over them or spend excess time and money! The majority of people think they are cute but really dont appreciate the effort you have gone to, I'd save time and money for the actual invites when you're much more likely to have a feel for who's actually going to come and include the detailed info for those people. We bought cheap postcards with chillies in the shape of love hearts on to give a hint at our Mexican wedding. We made up a silly little rhyme that indicated the date and location and that was all. People appreciate getting a heads up so they can weigh up their finances and start saving. The majority of people we sent them to backed out due to financial reasons at this stage (we fully expected this but thought it was still polite to send them) so now we dont have to waste time and money including reams of detailed info in invites for them. You'll find plenty of inspiration and support on here... Enjoy

Excited to see a fellow "chapel" girl, we dont get many of us on here.... As for your idea about the trio If I were you I'd double check the timings with your W.C before you make a decision. Its my understanding that you usually only get them to play for one set of 45mins - 1 hour so if they started to play in the chapel im not sure if they would then come back later to play the cocktail hour unless you paid a seperate fee. Also perhaps they would start timing their set from when they start to play in the chapel so you would then not get the full set for your cocktail hour? Just a thought, maybe some past brides can give more specific info.

But she was great at responding to my communications though, and put me in touch with Javier, the head concierge, when I asked for his email. She might be getting better, as I said, I think she just started there less than 6 months ago... Have you had any problems with getting a hold of her? Chantal Just to jump in here, I have received my first email from Aurora this week. She responded to my question within 48hrs (damn good by DT standards!) and was the only person I've dealt with so far to actually answer my question in a clear and confident manner. Looks like she's finding her feet.....

  12. Congratulations, thanks so much for the review, glad to hear you had such an overall wonderful time. Good to know about the spa issues to factor poss delays into the planning process. Thanks for the tip about the menu's, i'm def gonna get onto that as we have spent ages trying to piece together a menu from the options available with no luck! Looking forward to pics.

  15. Chanti and Starlitk, thanks so much for your input. If its usually 9pm the timing fits cos our reception starts at 6pm. Good idea about locating our reception so we can see the performance anyway without actually moving. Still cant decide how the guests would find this, either having to move location or our reception location being over-run with people coming to see the show. Any opinions on this welcome. Another major headache Im having is set up fee's for a private reception. The new wedding guide now states $750 set up fee inside or out. I knew this always applied to the seaside grill but are they really going to charge me $750 to set up a table for 13 on the beach or by the pool. Please help me out with your recent costs, experiences or W.C feedback on this cos at the minute it looks like we are going to lose our photographer...
