LOL! This is too funny...but deadly serious! It was really important to us that FI's son (10yrs old) is coming with us to the wedding and sharing our day but unfortunately due to costs is also sharing our bedroom! We are planning onpacking him off to stay with Fi's Dad and stepmum on the wedding night but im really looking forward to hearing Fi explain to him why he has to move rooms for the night Ha Ha. Hope you get sorted

Destination Location with a chapel, beach, fun, and history? - HELP!
northernflasher replied to CnC's topic in Newbies!!
Welcome and congrats. You've come to the right place, the girls (and occassionally boys) on here will no doubt be able to point you in the right direction. Not sure if its the kind of thing you're looking for but Dreams Tulum in the Riviera maya has a cute, spanish style chapel on-site in the resort. Its non-denom (we are having our civil ceremony there.) You would arrange your minister of choice or judge with the wedding co-ordinator. Tons of info in the specific Dreams Tulum thread. Only prob may be your guest numbers, the chapel is very intimate and only seats 20! Good Luck with the decision. -
They look fab, Good for you.

Welcome Kristine, You'll find this site invaluable in the coming months, I definately have. Im booked for 26th March 2010 at Dreams Tulum. A couple of good threads to check out if you haven't already are:2010 brides The general Riviera Maya thread what I would and wouldn't do again thread A bit of advice, the forum takes a while to get used to, it took me ages to get into it properly, its best to post actual questions you may have in the threads rather than your blog, always search before you post to a thread cos the chances are somebody has already asked and gotten detailed awesome responses. Enjoy all the Kindness, invaluable insider info and support thats gonna come your way. Happy Planning

So my first blog today was more of a blog after the fact cos I went away for the week after and didnt think about posting to my blog then! I kind of want it to be a reminder for me to look back on as to how I felt after my first dress shopping trip....here is the reality today. Just after my dress scouting trip we went to the Lakes for a couple of days and I met a lovely woman named Val, a good friend of Davids (FI) step-mum who it turns out is a wedding dress seamstress. She really reassured me that she would be able to work her magic on my Landybridal dress, whichever style I choose so it will fit like a glove. Yeah! She also offered to take me to her wholesalers for swarvoski crystals, beading, lace accessories etc...result. When I got home this week I also found tons of info and invaluable advice left for me on the forum and the usual kindness and support we lucky BDW brides are blessed with. You Rock

Yeah for Becks ..... is she for hire! I think we could all do with a little of someone special like that in our lives right now. Nice to know who your real friends are when you need them. In the process of my planning I have actually severed all ties with my oldest best friend of 15 years after realising it was, is, always has been, always will be all one way traffic. Thank god for my sweet lil sis who's getting me through everything right now. Must say I think you're being so diplomatic over the whole S debacle, WTF! Love the sound of your luggage tags, pics and templates when you get half a chance.

Thanks Hun, You always come through for me!.... Gonna search some blogs now and get a few ideas.

So, I finally plucked up the courage to go dress shopping on 23rd May and as lovely as it was and as understanding, patient and kind my sister was with me... it sucked! I tried on about 25 dresses, none were "The One" none of the type, shape or material I thought I wanted suited me and the ones that did made me look a million dollars but feel like I was trying to salsa in a straightjacket! I know its not the end of the world, I really should be looking forward to more lovely days out with my sister, lots of ooohing and cooing, but I really, really hope that next time out I see my dress. The actual dress. The "I have to have it".... here's hoping.

As long as I can still zip it up it makes me look great other than I need to do some work on my arms! My dress was a moonlight bridal dress. I really didn't feel like looking through all of her dresses and knew I wanted this dress so i emailed her and asked. I've heard she's told some people they are unable to do their dress, but I think they are dresses w/ ALOt f detail and she knows it won't turn out exact and feels like she'll just let a customer down so she'll flat out tell you if she can or can't make it. Here is the dress I asked her for: And here it is on me: I LOVE it. It's ivory taffeta. if you notice in the original picture there was a sash that went around the bottom part. I forgot to tell her that I didn't want it so when I got the dress I put it on and friend was taking pics and i cut it off but realized after lookin at the pics I like it better with it! I ordered a standard size 10 cause she will only let you return if its standard sizing and I was really afraid I might not like it. She told me the measurements for the standard size and I was so excited I just said yep those will work! Well it didn't fit when I first got it. I lost some weight and rechecked her measurements and they were exactly what I was so I jumped into the dress and it zipped right up! I'm really short so I do have to have it altered cause the top body part is just a little to long and I'll have a couple inches taken off the bottom so I suggest getting custom measurements. It fits sooo good. I'm not even wearing a bra in the pics! Its comfortable and everything! I highly recommend her. another girl used her and got a more detailed dress and posted pics here: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t41443 I hope that helps you out some! Jacilynda, you're a star Thanks so much for the detailed reply, you look so amazing in your beautiful dress, it fits perfect and if thats with no bra you gotta seriously give me some chest exercise tips!!! It has exactly the corset shape that suited me and it helps so much to see a "real" dress next to the original pic (virtually identical might i add) Im def going to give custom measurements cos im so wierdly shaped! Im only 5ft 3" so I expect to have to get my dress altered anyway...yeah for the vertically challenged. Im feeling much more relaxed and positive now, think I was just a bit overwhelmed at the time. Cant wait to see your photos of the day. Your FI will be the cat that got the cream.

Colourful : Imagination

So I finally got over my fear of shopping for wedding dresses and went with my sis (also my MOH) this Saturday. We had a lovely day but.. all my ideas about what dress I wanted were thrown upside down. My wedding file is full of pics of floaty, chiffon, tulle, beachy style dresses but none of the dresses in this style suited me, the chiffon showed off my lumps and bumps and gave me no shape whatsoever. I didnt see "THE" dress but the ones that suited me were nothing like i'd imagined and most of them felt far too big, restrictive and heavy for a beach wedding. Coming from the UK im not used to heat and humidity at all so I really cant imagine spending a full day in the sun in these dresses when I felt claustraphobic after 1hr of trying them on. The main prob is that I was only trying on to get an idea of style because I intend to get it made from Landybridal in china (reputable firm producing copies of designer dresses for those that dont know) However now I realise the dresses I originally want dont look good on me Im worried she isnt going to be able to replicate the corset type feel I think im going to have to go with. I just feel so confused, Is it normal to feel this down after a shopping trip. I know this was my first trip and I have time to go looking again I think I just expected to find "THE" dress and be able to get it made at a price I can afford. Cake and Eat it!!! LOL

She didn't have my specific dress and I contacted her to see if she could do a different dress. She had me email photos of the dress I wanted and she made it! It cost me $190 which included shipping and about 40 days to receive the dress. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HER! She was so nice and always responded, maybe not immediately do to time difference but always replied. The dress is PERFECT! I was nervous about doing it but thought for $190 it was worth the risk since the dress normally cost around $900. I ABSOLUTELY love my dress. I say that I recommend her, although my dress doesn't have any beading or lace so i can't recommend her as far as that goes. If you want i can post some photos of my dress and the detail in it so you can see her work. I think a couple of other girls have ordered their dresses from her I don't know if they have them yet or not. I would love to see pictures of the actual dress she made you rather than the promo pics she puts on her site. I have been intending to use Landy for a while now but I went on my first wedding dress shopping trip on saturday and realised that the dresses that suit me are much more structured than I originally thought I would need. They felt like they had an internal corset pulling me in all the right places and made me look and feel a million dollars. Im just afraid now that the Landy ones just wont measure up..literally LOL Does your dress give you this kind of feeling, what is it made of, I got swatches but they only come in satin and most of the dresses I like are chiffon, lace or taffetta so the colours will differ anyway. Some advice would be much appreciated, I feel so down and undecisive after my trip.
