  1. J, I love your pics! I love your photographer's style. Her work is so beautiful. You were a beautiful bride. I love when you can see joy in someone's face and you and your hubby were definately happy. Congratulations!!
  2. Congratulations! My only regret is that I did not find this site about a year ago! I would have been so ahead of the game. But better late than never. These ladies have been so helpful and lots of fun. Good luck with the planning.
  3. For anyone looking for a venue for welcome dinner, I am having a welcome dinner at Seawind resort in Negril. It is a great deal so I thought I would share. My original plan was to use the BBQ that Sunset at the Palms has on friday nights to be my welcome BBQ, that was going to be a money saver. I would only have to pay for my offsite guests. I just found out last week that they no longer have a friday night BBQ, so I had to quickly find another venue for a beach bbq. The cost to have a private one at my resort was crazy, just like having another reception basically. So after the usual panic I now have another option. My TA helped me to choose Seawind resort for my Welcome beach BBQ. These are the details of the quote that I got for SeaWind resort. The price for the BBQ is 20$ per person. This will include: Menu: - Buffet style salad bar includes: cole slaw, cold pasta salad, tossed green salad with choice of dressing, fruit platter, tomato & cucumber platter, olives. - Soup (of your choice) - Appetizers/ Accompaniments-Potato Wedges, Roast Yellow Yams, Baked Potatoes with Honey Nut Sauce, Choice of rice (pumkin or rice & peas (to be decide by you) - Main course on the grill: Jerk chicken, grilled fish fillet snapper, Jerk Pork, - Dessert - assorted desserts Includes: Bonfire on the beach & personal services and set-up on the beach for the group. The cost is 20$us/person include taxes(tips would not be included, for the servers) Reggae Band: 300$us So I can have my welcome dinner for basically $1000 which includes a band and a bonfire! Yaaay! I think this is a great deal! I am going to have them arrange for group travel from my resort to the dinner so my guests aren't too inconvenienced. It wasn't what I originally envisioned but.... Nathalie's number at SeaWind is 876-957-9018 or cell 587-9158 or email: [email protected]
  4. I actually found powdered bloody mary mix at Home Page. I used mini containers that I found at dollartree dollar stores that were 8 for $1! The bloody mary mix is $8.00 for a small tub. It took me 2 tubs to make 30 of the small containers. (ok, ok so after one particularly tough friday night I opened one tub and made a few bloody marys. Just add vodka or tomato juice and vodka, pretty tasty) I labeled them with my logo labels. (free from vista print) They turned out cute! You might consider buying a big vat of powdered drink mix and put them in the small containers if you are on a budget.
  5. Why did I have to see this thread? Less than 2 months before my wedding and I am not near being bikini ready and all I can think about is cupcakes! I love to bake and I think the reason cupcakes always taste better than cake is because you can eat one right out of the oven. When you bake a cake you are forced to wait until it cools and I always think it makes me look greedy if I serve a cake that is cut. Ok, I am, but I don't want the guests to know that! Pre wedding planning days I used to go to Sprinkles once a week to get a fix. I am obsessed with their red velvet and their black and white cupcakes! I work 5 minutes away from the store. I actually have to drive by it everyday to get to work. Usually the long line discourages me from stopping but today.....I just don't know. Work was so depressing yesterday, one of the girls that I hired got put on notice yesterday. Oh yeah, and she is from my church, no less. Yes, I think I deserve a cupcake today!
  6. This is my first time voting and I am pretty excited about it. Both of these ladies I found to helpful and thoughtful. b2b: Tylersgirl Mrs. Yael
  7. Wow Yael! Everything looked beautiful. The food at the 4 seasons is sooo good! I know your guests loved it. When I saw the pics it made me really miss Santa Barbara, my parents met and got married in Santa Barbara. I lived there as a child and I went to UCSB so I know just how perfect everything was! I am glad that the hotel was accomodating! Your pictures tell the story of a perfect day! I am so glad that everything turned out so well.
  8. Ok, I think I may be the cheapest bride thus far. I recycled! My 2 bridesmaids are wearing the dresses that we wore in my maid of honor's wedding 2 yrs ago. They are simple champagne colored tea length dresses that are sexy. I loved that dress. I gave the dress that I wore to my maid of honor and my other BM was in that wedding too, so she is getting to wear her dress for the 2nd time!!! I bought their shoes and jewelry and am going to pay for our spa treatments the morning of the wedding. My friend is a makeup artist and her gift is to do all of our makeup! (One less expense, I told u guys I was a cheap bride!) I don't think there is anything wrong with paying for your BM's dresses if you have the extra money, but I don't think that most people expect it. I do think that it is a nice gesture in this economy to try to be somewhat conservative and not expect the wedding party to go into debt. Just my opinion....
  9. Jac- doesn't it always seem like when you have somewhere for the $ to go it almost always has to go somewhere else!!! We still have payments to make on the wedding ourselves. I know that it will all work out in the end, but it is still stressful. I can't believe that August is just over a month away! I still have so much to do! I know it will all work out....OMG, I think I am becoming the girl that I swore I never would be...a bridezilla! I was a bridesmaid in a wedding 2 yrs ago and the bride drove me nuts. (She is my Matron of honor) I had dreams of torturing her the way she tortured us but it is way too much work to keep harassing my girls! Good luck to all of the August brides! Tammy
  10. I just noticed that I went from full member to member. I guess I will just have to spend even less time working and more time posting! HA!
  11. I love that black dress. Foxy, I'm with you, my a** wouldn't fit in it either!!! However, after I lose those 20 lbs that I am hoping to lose in the next month (HA) by any means necessary, I will see if it is still available!
  12. I'm sure glad that it turned out this way. When I first read this thread I was so mad that you were treated so badly. I am so glad that you are getting your BD session. Good for you!
  13. Thanks everyone! BCbride, it took longer for me to decide what they should look like and what information they should include than it did for Ana to actually do them. It took Ana about 3 weeks or so to deliver the finished product during which time I made revisions and changes! Ana was very easy to work with. I ordered the mini passports, therefore I had to order extra pages so that I could include all of the information that I wanted my guests to have.
  14. I love my mini passport invitations that Ana deRoux made for me. They are so cute and are what I envisioned when I thought I might want a passport invitation. I always say that the color of my wedding is island pink and green. I think that Ana captured exactly what I meant by those colors. My logo (from Becks, who I also love, pics from her projects for me are coming soon!) stands out on the white metallic cardstock. The pictures do not do them justice. If anyone is not a DIYer, like me, you can get all the help you need right here on BDW! I have received calls from friends asking where did I find such perfect invitations. I would love to take the credit, but I had never even heard of such a thing before BDW! I am so thankful that I found this site. Thanks to Ana, Becks and all of you for helping me to make my wedding what I dreamed it would be. IMG]http://i688.photobucket.com/albums/vv248/Purrfected/SSPX0232.jpg[/img]
  15. You made it! Today you will see the results of all of your hard work. I am so happy for both of you. I hope you have a wonderful blessed day! Pics, pics, we want pics!!
  16. I am happy that you had a great time at your wedding. I can't wait for the pics. Thanks for the heads up about the champagne toast because I was teetering back and forth about whether or not to have it right after the ceremony or later at the reception. I think after we all cool down a bit it will probably be more enjoyable.
  17. Yael, I am so glad everything turned out so wonderful for you. Your wedding looks like it was so beautiful! I am so happy for you. The pictures are incredible! I can't wait to see more!!
  18. Thanks ladies....I think the idea of the dollar condoms is kinda scary. I did check to make sure that they were not expired!
  19. Wow! I am so excited for you! Congratulations, how fun is that? I can't wait for the pics!
  20. What a great, thorough review of the resort! I am so excited to see your pics. I know they will be beautiful! I am glad that your wedding turned out to be perfect. You so deserved a perfect wedding after your swine flu dilemma!
  21. Originally we were going to have our guests book thier own flights. We booked our own directly through the airlines and got a pretty good deal. But we found a TA who will price match and take a few bucks off anything you find online with orbitz, etc. That way I can get everyone's itinerary in an email from the TA! She offered packages to my resort at decent rates and it just made it easier. I think Tammy the administrator has a new travel team that will answer your questions easier. I wish I had found this site sooner, I would definately be using one of the TA's on here. They seem very knowledgeable. Good luck.
  22. Wow the photography is great! I am excited to see your pics. What florist are you using? I am using Floral Fantasies. I just wondered if it was the same florist. Thanks..
  23. I am glad that I went to the dr. today. He put me on b/c pills. (just like you all said) and I need to start them on Sunday. Thanks ladies, I feel so relieved. Thank you for your advice and support. Now, I am off to find some chocolate. Luv u guys!!
