Wow that is a lot of money! That hotel is beautiful though, and I remember the food at the restaurant being really good. However, nopt $30k worth of good. You might look into other places that are in the at same category that are having a tough time with the economy. You can rent venues and have a caterer for a lot less than that with the exact same view as that hotel. There is a magazine called Southern California brides (I think that is the name) that has many different venues. I went to see a few with at friend and they were gorgeous. She ended up getting married at a country club in Malibu that was a cliff overlooking the ocean. Fabulous and dinner was not 30k and the food was really good. Don't rule out private venues, they are usually much cheaper than the hotels and just as beautiful! Good luck and happy planning. I have never been to a wedding on Catalina, but I have been there often. It is beautiful and they have a couple of really cute places to stay. I know the Wrigley (as in gum) mansion is on the island and has been turned into a hotel I believe... Good luck with the planning!

We had planned to start trying during the honeymoon. However, I need to take a month or so of b/c or my monthly friend will start on my wedding day. Totally sucks...but we will start trying soon. We have lived together for over a year and have dated for almost 3 yrs...He wants one more than I do.

I love the dress. I say buy it and if it doesn't fit you can always sell it. I am sure one of the brides on this site would buy it if didn't fit. I love the way it hangs...BTW I can't wear Maggies either. I really like them but they don't look good on me.

My date is fast approaching... Finished: OOT bags, bm dresses, shoes, jewelry and gifts, flowers, reception music and menu, decorations for wedding, wedding and trip paid, menu and venue chosen for rehearsal dinner, my dress, shoes, and jewelry. To do: final fitting for dress alterations, finish paying for honeymoon, pay for rehearsal dinner, send out travel brochures, finish making luggage tags, get FI to get his guys to try on their white shirts, finalize guest list for placecards, seating arrangements, make programs, buy napkin holders, make spa reservations, pick up the bands from the jeweler, and lose 10 lbs! ha ha Wow and I thought I was almost finished.

I have stayed at SJG twice and it is a great place for a wedding. The food was soooo good and the staff was really nice. I would have chosen this resort but I really wanted to be in Negril this time around. I still chose a Sunset property. They really take good care of you. I have heard of brides having problems contacting their wedding coordinators at various other resorts, I have never had a problem reaching my wc at Sunset at the Palms. Good luck and happy planning.

So far so good. My guests seem to be really buying into the idea. I was at a 4th of July party with some of the folks that are going to the wedding and I heard a few of them make plans to go shopping for the pink attire that I requested. I think that if your guests feel like they are part of the wedding party they will be more willing to follow the dress code!
