I used a TA for my hotel accomodations in Jamaica. I did not put together a package because in my group there are people who I know have a ton of miles and will use their miles for the airfare. There are quite a few in my group who will only travel first class and will want to make their own arrangements. Air Jamaica stopped flying from LA, ( I am devastated!) so there are lots of airlines to choose from and the prices are all comparable. The big difference is schedule. Additionally since I started planning, airfare has went down. My point in saying all this is that I think you have to look at your guests and their requirements to help you decide whether to book everything as a package.

Ayita, I am so sorry to hear of your troubles with the resort. This is such a sad story. I feel so bad for you. How many people are in your group. I stayed at a villa near PM a few years ago. There are beautiful private villas in the area. I am sure you TA will be able to find you some. We stayed in a rather small (3 bdr) villa. But right down the road there were huge villas that looked like mansions! They were beachfront and gorgeous. The name of the villa that we stayed at was "Casa Martia." I am looking for the website and info for the owner. She was so sweet and may be able to put you in contact with one of the owners of the villas that are near her. I will PM you the info after I find it. I know I have it, I just have to look. Don't worry. It will all work out and you will have a beautiful wedding. Tammy

That topper is so adorable! I am a big pet person. Our dog is our child, so i completely understand. We are going to have a picture of her up at our reception so that she is not forgotten! (We would love to take her, but too much of a hassle to take her to Jamaica. She would end up spending all of the time in quarantine.) Tammy

Great advice. Things that I would not have thought of. I ususally just use the hotel safe or lock my luggage. I usually do not tip the housekeeping staff until the last day. (I thought that was customary) I will try these tips on my next trip. Thanks guys!

Congratulations Mandy! I know how hard it is to resist the temptation to try to please your friends, family and guests. However, the only people who really have to be happy are you and your future husband. You only get one day to be the star of your own show-your wedding day. This is the day that all eyes are on you. It should be your decision how, when and where your guests get the privilege to see you exchange vows with your love. Good luck and remember to stay true to yourself.

That topper is absolutely adorable! When I saw it without knowing your story I thought you guys were going to hop on the back of the bike and travel around for a honeymoon. The topper is very intimate, it definately tells a story. Great pick!!

I love having a TA for my wedding. I love to travel and usually plan my own trips. Therefore I know just how much work goes into planning a vacation, which is not even close to a wedding.There are so many details and questions that guests will have. I just don't have the time to help each guest plan their trip. I have someone to use as a resource and right now it is all about using your resources!

Baby, once you participate in the forum you will earn points which will let you view everyone's templates and then you can save them on your computer. Everytime you download something it costs points to do so. Just start reading the information and contributing to the forum and before you know it you will be able to view anything you want. I think the reason people did not respond to your PM is to encourage you to become an active part of the forum. I am a relatively new member and I have found that by just reading the threads and responding to them I have earned points. In no time at all you will be able to download the existing templates on the forum without having to PM any of the members on the site. I like the fact that we have to earn the right to view the information. I hope this information helps. I read something similiar when I first joined the forum. This thread is a little depressing. I wanted to spend about $6000 but as soon as I started planning I realized this was impossible. I think I am at 10k now for the wedding and honeymoon. (not including my ring) By the time you add the little details to the wedding, it really starts adding up. Thanks for making me take a look at my budget.
