So we havent (and wont be) telling anyone! This is what we did and for the same reasons too. We got married in Dec for the tax reason. When I called the court house they told us we did not need witness, but we could have them if we wanted. When we got there and told the JP that we were having a DW he said well then we don't even have to say the vows. I thought that was really nice of him. He told us it will make the DW mean more since it will really be the first time we have said the vows.

  3. My mom called the resort herself and they told her they did not feel the Earthquake there or any of the after shocks. Let people know they are over 300 miles apart and that is a straight shot.

Maybe this florist is helpful for you This link does not work. Can you please post another link? Thanks, Jennifer
  6. You can carry it on in a carry on bag. I am carring wine glass I had made for the mom's and this. Glass is allowed in a carry on bag.
  7. I think its great they are doing this. I have already sent money to Red cross. I just want to put this out there and I am by any means trying to be debbi downer, but I have heard that if you take it down to the DR that might not make it to Haiti. Not saying that DR doesn't need the stuff just know it might not end up in Haiti, but that doesnt mean the people getting don't need. I will be bring down stuff for the DR. I had planned on this all along.
  8. We will be having our AHR on May 1st. The AHR will be at a family friends house (7000 sq feet w/a pool). So this is where my question's come in. How/ what do I do about a bar? My FI thought wine and a couple of Kegs, but the only thing is I don't drink wine or beer. I had thought about doing three signature drink, one with vodka, one with rum and the third would either be a tequila or whiskey drink and then Beer. FI is a little unsure about how that would get done which I am also. Do we hire people or what we are so lost with this? The cheapest rought would be to do wine and beer and just have a little something for me that noone knows about. I'm not really sure how you do a cash bar since it is at someones house. Please let me hear your thoughts on this. Jennifer
  9. Oh yes they have access to all the amenities and the other pool in that area of the resort.
  10. Okay my question is for anyone that has traveled with Freeze dried petals. Have you be aloud to go thur customs with they or do they count that as a plant? I am not sure how this would work since it is just the petals. Another would be how well did the petals hold up? Any information would be great!! Thanks, Jenn

With them only staying 5 day it save them like 600 and if they would of stayed the whole it would of cost them about the same as if they would of stayed at the resort, bc of them have to pay the AI fees.
  12. Welcome from another Texas Bride!!!
  13. Well I guess that is true if you go at the end of Oct. I live in Houston, Texas and all the Major storms that hit us and areas around us are at the end of Sept. So if there is any damage they might not be to fit or repair the damage that fast. Ike hit Houston on Sept 13 and we were with out power in my area for 10 days. Thats just the power. I wouldn't run the risk, but alot of people do. Hurricanes were one stress I didn't want to have because noone knows when or where they are going to hit and can change at a drop of a dime.
  14. I am sure October is the best bang for your buck because that is the heart of hurricane season. No one knows when or how many hurricanes we will get a seasons. I might lower your guest number, because people could be worried about traveling down there during that time!
  15. I know that would be wonderful if southwest went down there. We are only going for a 8 days so we are trying to take one bag each and then a third box with wedding stuff in it. That way we only have to pay for on bag.
  16. I was watching CNN this morning and saw that Delta has increased the Baggage fees for travel with in 50 United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada, and Puerto Rico For tickets purchased on/after January 5, 2010 for travel on/after January 12, 2010: You will now have to pay $23 USD for the 1st bag and $32 for the 2nd bad if you bag online. I really want a private reception, so it will cost more. I'm sorry if I sound whiney ladies, I don't mean to, just really want to find a place. I am leaning towards Moon Palace b/c of their prices, I'm just worried that it might be too expensive for guests. Do you think that $900 something dollars is too much to ask guests to pay for airfare and hotel for 4-5 days? I think its a pretty good deal, because for a flight alone is on avg. 630 w/ tax and the cheapest we have seen it for a year was 575 with tax. That is flying from Houston to DR. There are no non-stop flights either. Being on this forum for awhile I think the Canadian bride gets a lot better deal on the flights they get. Our room per person for Thursday thru Monday at about 500 per person. So with air they are looking at about 1100 per person. I am staying at Palma Real in Punta Cana.
  19. We will just miss each other by a few days I will get in on the 10th of March.
  20. I have a few question about fake lashes: How long do the normaly last? Would they hold up with me swimming in the pools and ocean? I leave the states on the 10th of March and get married on the 13th of March, so I am trying to see if I can put them on before I go or if I should wait.

  22. Th bridal shop that I bought my dress from will keep it there for me till my wedding date. The only time I would have to go and pick it up was if there was a hurricane in the Gulf headed our way.
  23. This may sound like a silly question, but the ladys who use the wands were they already made or did you have to put them together? Also did any of your ladys use the ones with the bells? Jennifer
