  1. Just got back from my wedding last weekend. Everything was perfect. Thanks to everyone on here for all the help. I'll post a review of everything as soon as I can.
  2. I'm getting married June 6th and we are still going forward with our plans. I was wondering about Amber, I think she is getting married the May 15th.
  3. All I can say is wow!! Your wedding looked amazing. You looked like you had the time of your life, no worries, no stress, just loving the night. Congratulations!!!
  4. Hey Sarah- I'll take the pink votive lanterns and led candles. Send me your address and I'll mail you a check. Good Luck and be sure to post your pics when you get back. Ashley
  5. Congrats kristen!! I can't see the.pics either do you have a link to them or have them posted somewhere else. Mrsscottyb- what dishes did you try? I'm so excited everyone's weddings are getting close. I can't wait to see all the pics. Is there anyone on here that isn't using vanessa as their florist or that isn't having a huppa? I was wondering what you are doing at the end of the aisle. I feel like there needs to be something to walk to besides my fiance standing in the sun.
  6. If you want some good beach lounge pics check out Tulum Weddings - The perfect wedding destination. My WC quoted me $1500-$2400 for 50 seats. I love the pics, but can't decide if the price is worth it.
  7. I sent Jackie an e-mail complaining about the vendors fees and asking why she charged them becasue I thought she should be able to find vendors as cheap as I did. I thought that was why we are paying her $1500. She never responded to that e-mail. So I decided she can get her $400-$600 extra out of me, but I chose Ana y Jose based on reviews and I'll be sure to let everyone know about it in my review. Maybe she can redeem herself by then, but right now I feel like she is being very shady.
  8. Has anyone heard back from Jackie lately? I've sent at least 4 e-mails in the last 2 weeks and haven't heard anything. I don't think she likes me anymore
  9. I think a pina colada toast is a great idea. What's wierd is she told me the only thing you don't have to pay an outside vendor fee for is the officiant because it is such a personal decision. But I guess she is giving you other hoops to jump through for that one. We are getting married here before we go to Mexico because my fiance was born in Vietnam and I can't figure out how to get the apostille for his birth certificate. I also wasn't too excited about having my blood drawn in Mexico.
  10. I think renting a place for an after party is great idea. That way the people that are ready to go home don't feel obligated to stay and everyone else can just have a good time. Plus you can go to the supermarket and stock your open bar for the rest of the trip. I went to one destination wedding where everyone was drinking the left over bottles of champagne for the rest of the trip. Mimosas for breakfast anyone? Since we are staying in Playa we just figured we would take the party back there for the rest of the night.
  11. San Fran Sarah- Since you have visited maybe you can help with this question. Is the grape tree area considered the beach? Just curious because May-September is Turtle season and there are some restrictions on the beach. Also she told me there could be no dancing on the beach (maybe because of the turtles) so I wasn't sure what area is considered the beach or not.
  12. DJs- I spoke with DJ Bob yesterday. He was so nice and excited about his job. He also said he would provide me with sound equipment during the cermony as long as I was paying him to be there. Which would be cheaper than renting equipment for the night. I don't think there is anyway they can charge $100 an hour. I asked her several times what the outside vendor fee was and all she gave me was a $200 flat. But I haven't heard back from her lately so we will see. Reception- I want to have my reception in the grape tree area as well. I was wondering what everyone was doing after dinner? The grape tree area looks awesome for dinner, but what about dancing and all that stuff. I was thinking of going back to the palapa or beach bed area, but don't know if that will actually work.
  13. $100 per hour!!!! Is she crazy? How much money do they need from each wedding or do they just prefer you to not have music at all? I have asked specifically about vendor fees several times and she has never told me that. Actually a the first few times I asked she would just re-attach her vendor sheet. Isn't there somebody on the forum that has already had a their wedding there? Has anyone talked to them to see if they really did charge this or is this something new they aretrying to throw in. I am just affraid I am gonig to get blindsided with hidden fees.
  14. Stephdel- I haven't asked about the corkage fee, but I agree with the $13 an hour for open bar and it isn't even top shelf. We decided to pay by the drink for everyone because we wanted top shelf and knew our families couldn't drink the $125/person that came out to (friends on the other hand probably will). But when you pay by the drink, you have to pay for ALL the drinks, $2.50 per coke and water. I even asked if we could have those big jars of fruit juices you always see in Mexico, we can but still $2.50 per glass. Oh well. They have realized American brides will pay whatever for their wedding to be what they want. Is anyone using the lounge furniture? Seeing the pictures of that is what made me want my wedding at Ana y Jose, but I'm not really sure how to incorporate it so that I get my money's worth.
  15. Debbie421- My guests are staying at Aventura Mexicana in Playa. I haven't stayed there I based it soley on reviews and service. We wanted a small hotel so that we would be mostly the only people there, but most places didn't respond to either e-mails or phone calls. The manager at Aventura has been super helpful and the Travelocity reviews are all great. Photo- Vincent from Del Sol (they have been my favorite people to talk to, they definately love their jobs) Dj- I'm thinking about DJ Bob as well (much better than the $350 an hour Jackie quoted) Transport- Paradise Tours and Transport Hotel- Aventura Mexicana Everything else is through Jackie.
  16. My contract under third party service providers says "There is a fee you must pay if you want to bring your own vendors on to our property." I had to ask a few times before she gave me an actual number. I feel like sometimes she avoids answering questions directly. But then she finally said $200. At first, it didn't bother me because I thought she has all the vendors I need so it won't be a problem. But then, like you, when I got to musicians and some other little things her prices are outrageous. I was wondering if anyone else has asked about the vendor fees or gotten any other answer.
  17. Hi guys! I'm getting married at Ana y Jose's as well. I am using Del Sol Photography. I know they are on the pricier side, but I wanted great photos and after looking at their website I couldn't say no. Plus my fiance keeps saying you only get married once in your life if you want it do it.
  18. This is awesome to talk to othe Ana y Josers. My people are staying in Playa and I called Paradise Tours and Transports. He seemed really nice and gave a much more reasonable quote than the people Jackie suggested. I also noticed that almost everything she suggests is more expensive than I can find on my own. I thought that is what we were paying her for so I didn't have to do it myself. Then she also said there is a $200 charge for outside vendors (but that's ok because most of the time it is still cheaper than what she quotes). Has anyone else dealt with this issue?
  19. Hi I'm Ashley. As the title suggests I'm getting married in June at Ana y Jose's Beach Club in Tulum. I've taken care of all the big things like the place, hotel and flights, photographer, but all the little things are driving me crazy. How am I supposed to know what kind of decorations I need? I don't know which cake I want I can't taste them over the internet. Anyways, I hope I can get some help here.
