Got a reply from Perla today, this is what she said "Dear Rachelle, I review all my e-mails and I'm sure I answered you since I don't have anything waiting... I was not able to answer you soon, because I´m on a bussines trip and it has being a ittle bit difficult to get internet access. Please find my A to your Q on the same paragraph! Perla" I know she must be busy but I know for sure she did not answer. Ah well, at least she answered and very in-depth as well. Thanks for the suggestion for future email headings. If I tell her what we are looking for will she recommend the best package or should I go through the package prices and try to figure it out myself? She has asked our budget but it is kind of hard because I do not know what to say, not sure what the individual prices would be. As for the sound system, she mentioned for me to contact an outside vendor. We are just looking for an iPod docking system to play music and such. Did anyone else have to pay fees for that?

Has anyone heard back from Perla lately? Laurenandbill - I notice your date is fast approaching. Have you had any recent contact from Perla? I sent an email to her at the end of May and then another one on Sunday night. Have heard nothing. Was wondering if there is anything up with the resort because of the swine flu, maybe she is not working full time anymore? I need to get a quote from her and confirm our date... Hard to call her because of the time difference (I am in Australia for the year) and our headset is broken so the connection over skype is not the best. Guess I will have to wait and see. Maybe send another email in a week if I do no hear anything. Suggestions?

Weather?
RCBlondie replied to candiekiss's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Hey, we have been to the RM twice and both times it said it was going to rain the whole time. The first time it did rain a little more than I was happy with, but it was also the end of hurricane season. The second time we went it was the beginning of hurricane season (last Aug/Sept) when they had 5 hurricane's in the area. It rained twice! The first time was when we were on the bus going to the resort, for about 25 mins, and the second time for about 10 minutes the first morning. We had lovely weather there and they will tell you not to look at the weather forecast because it is not always a good indication. For us the forecast was definitely wrong. Also, some other brides that recently were married in RM said that it rained only slightly so not to worry (I asked the same question as you in a different thread - Paradisus thread I think). Plan for the rain and if it is sunny you will be so happy! Good luck though, I hope you have glorious weather! -
We will be donating to Charity as well but will do a Welcome bag. Some ideas that I had were a fan with our ceremony info, i.e. our names, date & location, a bottle of Mexican tequila, the wedding bubbles & the disposable cameras. Is anyone else doing a welcome bag? Does this sound like too much to have your guests remember to bring with them to the actual ceremony?

thanks navarrabrooke & SMB&CRZ for your comments. I am still waiting for some answers about the actual cost, let alone booking the date. Maybe someone here can help me? 1. has anyone does the chill-out-chic package? I read that the dinner seating was "Imperial Sytle", what does this mean? I was under the impression that it was lounge chaise seating...? 2. I am wondering if it would be worth it to do a less expensive package but request that it be the lounger seating instead. I have read on here that if you do piece-meal it can get quite expensive and the pricing could change when you actually get there. I know the cost is higher at this resort partly because of the fact they only do one wedding a day but we do not necessarily need all the stuff with the chill-out package and the additional cost per person beyond the first 20 is $105 pp! And we are thinking our guest list will be around 50 people. Any suggestions or thoughts?

sounds like things are getting better down there, thankfully! Congratulations SMB&CRZ for booking! We are planning to book there as well (June 2010) but are waiting to hear from Perla about our requested date and quote for the cost. I know things are a little crazy down there and assume it will take a week or so to hear back from her. How long would any of you wait before emailing her again? I have read that a few of you say she does take some time, especially when the wedding is so far out.

My Paradisus Rviera Cancun Wedding Review
RCBlondie replied to yamille's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
congratulations Yamille! Great review. It has helped in our decision making about which resort. My FI and I were joking about how great it would be for the place to be low occupancy, you sounded like there was little affect for you and your guests. Positivity does help enjoyability! Congrats again and I will watch for the photos. Also, going to PM you with another question. Thanks! -

welcome back Yamille, going to read your review. Sounds like you had a great time and I look forward to reading all about it and seeing your photos. Lauren, from what I can tell PRC is close enough to Cancun that maybe it will not matter if the entertainment is cancelled. I read somewhere that they do provide a shuttle service, for a cost of course. But do not worry, your guests will have a great time because they are there to celebrate with you...and the hotel lobby can sometimes be a great place to hang out. You get to make your own party!!!

Has everyone else used a TA or are they going direct through the hotel? Not sure which is the best way to do it as we have guests from all over Canada (mostly in BC), as well as guests from overseas, New Zealand and Australia. Suggestions? -

Especially after the recent reviews that have been posted. I have been watching the weather reports lately and I know when we have traveled to the RM the weather is not always as the reports say it will be. Does anyone know if rain is typical at the end of May beginning of June (from personal experience)?

Hi Jennifer (Bride-Chill-a), nice to see another Vancouver-ite on the forum! Too bad I moved from Vancouver for the year, would have been nice to sit down with someone local who is planning at the same time as me. Good luck though and enjoy the beautiful weather you are having right now, I am a little envious! -
Too many colors!!!!!!!!!!!
RCBlondie replied to *HOLLY*'s topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
This question seems like it should be so easy to answer but the more I ask people the more suggestions I get. I think finding out the flower options is probably a good start at the least. Glad to know that I am not the only struggling with this question. Has anyone gone to a fabric store to look at colours or are you primarily looking at photos? I have heard that darker colours look great in the beach photos. Anyone else hear that? Good luck to you all still out there trying to decide too. -

I am so excited!! Now hopefully this swine flu thing blows over so we can book! I know my family won't be big on booking while this is going on. *fingers crossed*!! Hi Cara W, hope you enjoyed the pics on the website if you got a chance to look. Today I also found a "Sticky Post" in the Riviera Maya forum by "Sol Tamargo & Matt Adcock" for loads of pics on some different resorts in the RM area. Maybe take a look there too. Congratulations to the new 2010 brides and happy planning!
