The beach was nice and has really great snorkeling. It is smaller but more of an intimate cove with a dive shop at one end. I agree with MissyR that a beach ceremony may not be all that private, but if you are able to go off around the side of the beach (back towards the airport direction, not towards Tulum side) then it may be more private. When we were there it was not at full occupancy so everything was a little quite. They should have all the resort shops open by now and what was open was nice.

Cecilia is not our WC but I do know that they are so busy at Dreams Cancun and I received a reply from Cecilia for the new Dreams Riviera Cancun resort even though she is not the one looking after DRC...over worked I think could be an understatement! If you have not heard from her then send her another follow up email with her most recent reply attached. Good luck but everything will be just fine!

I am not sure Hockeymom97 (aka Heather), but I highly doubt you are dense! I am finding all this confusing too. However, I do think the terms of the group booking may depend on the tour operator that your TA is getting their quote(s) from.

I am feeling some anxiety over this but I trust her completely. So your MOH (who is doubling as your TA), says to wait until how long before? We are still 10 months out and the resort has not actually even opened yet. If I do a search for pricing for Nov (when it opens) and then again for Feb prices, the Feb prices are a few hundred less. Does your TA give you an idea of how far out to book?

Need help with first dance song?!?
RCBlondie replied to Carlitarenee's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
sounds like you have made your decision, but I would agree with everyone, go with "your" song. Every time you hear it in future you will remember that moment together on the dance floor. The first dance is what I am looking forward to most. Enjoy it and have a wonderful wedding. -

a reception with NO DANCING????

We will dance our father/daughter, mother/son, and bride/groom - if people feel like dance go crazy - if not that is fine too...we are only have 15 people give or take. What are other doing for small weddings? Although we are not having a "small" wedding, we too will be doing the informal dancing. We recently went to a wedding where dancing was not the focus of the nights entertainment, instead it was standing around and chatting. What a great vibe and a nice way to meet new people that have all come together for the same reason (the alcohol...hehe - kidding). I would figure that if your guests want to do some dancing then they will and there is probably a disco to head to afterwards. We are planning on a sort of mellow play list to have in the background as well. What I love about the dancing part of the wedding is the slow dancing, it is so romantic and not something you get to do often (or at least I don't). I guess the type of music will depend on the vibe you are trying to create for your guests. Just some food for thought. Loved the fact you brought this thread back to life bearbunny. -

I'm not sure if I can do this because I feel like I will be a ball of nerves until than but we'll see. She also said that you can never get a group rate and an early booking bonus together I have no clue what to believe anymore Those are my sentiments as well. I thought the price would decrease a little closer out but then you just never know! Wonder if the early booking and group booking is for certain carriers and not others?

Hello all, In some threads there are links that you can go to and in some of them I get the following message: "you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons: Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system? If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation". On specific thread where I have noticed this recently is (in the newbies section here): "***Click here for FAQ's and to learn hot to work this forum***" there is a link, "PSA: Points for Noobs" and so I click but get the message above? What am I doing wrong? Am I missing something?

Unfortunately, that didn't work out. Only 10 people booked and came, and we lost half our deposit, so $3000... If you have to give a downpayment for a group booking, make sure that your "for sures" are really "for sures"! Chantal Wow Chantal that sucks! I guess what you saved in additional costs for the wedding package (if you had that) you ended up spending on the downpayment. We are required to do the deposit and that is a bit of an issue for us. Something for us to consider for sure before we go ahead with the group booking. Thanks for the comments.

from my experience, Adult only resorts tend to be more "adult" like in their facilities, maybe even a little fancier and possibly more expensive. Many resorts have an adult only section which could be a nice compromise and help keep the price options open for your guests. We went to the DR and stayed in Punta Cana at the Grand Bahia Principe, we stayed in the Ambar section which was adults only. It was great to have an adult only section of the beach but also have access to some of the fun things that occur on a more family oriented resort. If your guests are leaving from T.O. then you should be able to find something very nice for $1500 I would think. Our trip to DR (punta cana) from Vancouver at the beginning of Dec. 08 it was $1400 for the Ambar section (adult only section) - considered more upscale and rooms a little nicer in the decor from what we read on TripAdvisor reviews. Hope this helps. Good luck with your planning.

hello everyone, Was hoping that some of you may have advise or suggestions about whether or not to book with a group booking or not? I understand some of the advantages for group booking, i.e. keeping the group together within the resort, making sure the rooms are available the dates we need... We are not getting married until June 2010 and received our group booking quote. The prices are fine, a couple $100 more than we were hoping but that's fine. The problem we have is the 7 days people have to book their trip as well. What we are wondering is if it is worth it to do the group booking (keep in mind we are not concerned about where are guests are within the resort)? Our TA says the quote includes the early booking bonus (and when I priced this resort out myself the quote from the TA was about the same as my search), but is it worthwhile to hold off on the group booking or even skip the group booking altogether? We will still use our TA of course and suggest our guests use her as well. Thoughts anyone?

Love the hot sauce idea. We are thinking of giving mini bottles of Mexican tequilla (a common idea I think). As for place cards, we are actually going to let people figure out where they want to sit themselves. We hope to have between 40-60 people and figure I don't want that responsibility to seat people! hehe...we are not planning to do the formal dinner though so it maybe easier with this than a proper seated dinner.

I tried to upload a photo (according to the size limits) and it says "upload failed". It's a regular jpeg....not sure what the problem is. How do I add the countdown to our wedding date in the signature?? Oh, and how do I get rid of the "lurker" title under my profile name? It's so creepy. Is it because I'm new to the forum?? Once I get this stuff done, I can finally begin talking about my wedding! Thanks for any help! If you go to Stock Market Updates, IPO profiles, Earnings Call Transcripts, Economic news, company news, Mutual funds profile,Earnings News, Mutual Fund Managers,Industry sectors, Oil and Natural Gas stocks - 123Jump (I think) they have some on there. If you see a counter there should be a website that you can go to and there will be a bunch to choose from. Not sure how to add your photo, anyone else? Congrats on booking your wedding! At least that one stressful decision is done...I am envious. -

Congratulations utbride2010 -less than a year to go! Pretty exciting, isn't it! -
Great info Brandy, thank you! Guess it is more important to have the guests book sooner than I thought. Helps with my planning though so that makes me happy. Too bad about the departure time, ouch! At least you should get to the resort at a good time so you can go and enjoy the pool, especially if the room is not yet available. I love getting there early, even if the room is not ready...nap time on the beach for sure!

Fireworks

Does anyone know if fireworks are permitted on the Mayan Riviera side? Or does it depend on the resort? -
