Question about gazebo ceremony- do they provide a microphone system? If not, can the guests hear the ceremony? -
RIU RM Palace Brides??

Hi Lovely ladies! It's so great to hear from everyone! Lisa and Josie- looks like you both had fantastic trips. Welcome home! Lisa- you mentioned steak and lobster at Chillis... they offer this nightly? It would be great to have that at our reception but do they reserve it for just certain nights? I haven't decided if I want to pay for cocktails at the reception or stick to the free beer/wine. Also if the splurge on the DJ is worth it? Sounds like Lisa really enjoyed it, but I'm not sure if the crowd we have booked so far is really a dancing crowd... Speaking of which, our crowd is all "parents friends" so far. STILL waiting for our friends to book!!! Shellk your teaser pic is hot! Can't wait to see the rest! -

I LOVE the idea of beaded names on there, I think I know what you're talking about and it sounds like a great idea!! How do you guys transport these to the resort? They're bulky!

Hi Everyone! I'm putting invitation wording together and stumped on a couple things.... are you guys mentioning AHR on the formal invite? My mistake is that I made an invitation that I like then sent it to our parents to see if they liked it... everyone came back with opinions that don't match up with mine :-/ lol Grrr. Also trying to get the photographer smoothed out... Hope everyone's week is off to a great start!!

What I would and wouldn't do again...
KimmyG replied to gkashmira's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
I'm not married yet BUT I've already learned: Don't pick your bridesmaids and announce them on your wedding website until they've booked (or you're 100% sure they'll make it)... It caused me a lot of hurt/heartache for 2 (out of 3) of my BMs to tell me they don't think they can make it. Anyone else I ask will know they're second choice since I already had posted pics of the wedding party on the website. Glad I didn't buy their dresses for them as I was planning on doing! ..looking back and reflecting, my mistake was that i *told* them they were my bridesmaids, rather than asking if they would do it. hmm. -
I had a hard time deciding what to do as well but this is what I decided: April 9, 2010 Wedding date Invitations will go out first week in January RSVP online by Jan 31 I was going to say RSVP by Feb 1 but Feb 1 sounds much later than Jan 31. I wanted to not give people time to procrastinate... receive the invitation and reply (more or less) right away, since most people know whether or not they're coming. I believe the RIU resort contacts you ~2 months before the wedding so I needed a head count by Feb 9... and a week for me to hunt down responses from non-responders. I also need that 2 months to prepare welcome bags, welcome brochures, etc... I'm def. not sending them out before the holidays because they would get lost in the holiday card frenzy, as well as loose their "special-ness" since people get so accustomed to receiving mail this time of year. Additionally, I didn't want to send them TOO soon.... i feared noone would respond bc they hadn't decided if they're coming or not yet, sounded like sure frustration waiting to happen! Just my $0.02!

Thanks for sharing, there are some great ideas here! I plan to order a clay cake topper of FI, me, and our dog. I like the idea of the date being written into the "sand." I'm waiting until we know more about our attire and flower colors before we place the order. Can't wait to see what everyone else finds!

Hi everyone! So much to catch up on I don't have a clue what I'd wear to a BD shoot... FI doesn't have any preferred sports teams (no jersey), I never wear heels and I have no CLEAVAGE! That rules out most of the sexy shots Tonya- those designs are really pretty! Tracy- can't wait to see your e-pics!

Do you have to have a private reception to have the open bar at your wedding dinner? If you don't get the open bar, what do they serve at dinner? Wine only? -
Suzy, sorry to hear about the ulcer! Have you tried the over-the-counter Prilosec? It shuts down acid secretion in your stomach. There are prescription versions as well (Nexium, Protonix) that all work very well. There are a lot of things you can do to help prevent flare-ups, like avoiding spicy/acidic foods, not eating too close to bedtime, etc. It's good you're going to get checked out. Hope you're feeling better SOON! KPETT10- I'm getting married a different RIU but a RIU nonetheless... as far as I know their photographer is always available when they book weddings. You don't have to comit to using him until you get down to the resort. It doesn't hurt to confirm this information with the resort though.

Echo- Sorry to hear about the light fiasco. It'll be worth it! Erin- Let us know how the cake turns out Tracy- The AHR postcards look great! Speaking of Invitations... I'm thinking of sending out invitations early January, and asking for an RSVP by Feb 1. I don't want to send them out too early and have noone respect the RSVP date. Is this too late?

Custom Linen Suits $99!
KimmyG replied to FoxyBride's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
What a great find. Thanks for sharing pics. FI wanted a suit with peak lapels... I'm not sure that they do that... -
Shan13- congrats on hitting 150! SuzqQ- I like your new pic, cute family DallasBride- First thing you need to do is see if the resorts you are interested in have the availability you want. Riu shows their wedding availability on their Riu Wedding website. If you get that locked in then I'd say you've got plenty of time to do the rest.
