Meghan- enjoy your rockin party this weekend. Sounds awesome!!! Sorry to hear about the mega frustrations. Yuck. I'd want the girl out of my wedding party too! Sucks for her that her husband is lame and needs a stripper to get him excited bc his wife doesn't. It's in the past, move forward with love for you and your man, EVERYTHING else is just details, and don't deserve to bring you down

RIU RM Palace Brides??
KimmyG replied to Jaime's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Congrats, Alexis! ONE MONTH from TODAY for me! I didn't hear anything about paying extra for a full menu, I assumed that was part of the dinner? I didn't ask about starting at 7pm either. Too bad the cake is crappy, hehe. -

The people who buy off a registry are not the same people who give money, and they won't give $ just bc they don't see a registry. You'll end up with 10 different cheesy wedding photo frames... If you're really opposed to a registry then register at a store with an awesome return policy so you can ditch it all and buy What you want, When you want!

I emailed the wedding group at Riu for a rate quote and I finally heard back yesterday. The quote was for $318 for a double- very doable in my mind. Then, a few hours later (late last night), I received another quote from a different sales person at Riu, same dates, but for $468 for a double! That's a bit different than $318/night...so I emailed them both back asking for the true quote- keeping my fingers crossed that the $318 is correct! Has anyone here received conflicting info like this in the past? Anyone have any idea what is reasonable/what's not? Thank you all so much for your insight and support on this thread! It's great! Don't stress about prices.... our price quotes were REDICulously high until we get closer, about 6 months before the wedding is when they were actually the most affordable. You're in a tough spot bc you want people to start booking but most people will take one look at the prices and run the other way. They're very high when they first come out (flight and hotel both). If anyone books this far out make sure they get insurance with a "price assurance guarantee." We did that, our travel agent lets us know when the price has gone down and credits us back the difference! Well worth the $120/person.... it's saved us nearly $1000 so far!! -

Adrienne and all the newbys- time will fly by. Great job getting a head start, I love your save-the-dates! Orange and blue look great together. I'd doing an "all white" wedding but using "tangerine and coral" (orange and green) as accent colors. -

Amber- My wedding is April 9 at the RPRM. Want to come?! I'd be happy to have you come by, be sure to introduce yourself -
Oatmeal cookies... YUM! I'm trying to eat healthy these last few weeks, but it's tough: girl scout cookies vs. the wedding dress, haha! In Ohio you can live together forever and not share any benefits. You have to be married in order to share health insurance, etc. I might be wrong, but that's my understanding. My guy is former military and we used to joke that if we were married while he was still active duty his insurance would cover a boob job for me, haaa We're doing the legal thing here on 3/26. Mainly because I'm a chicken and didn't want to get my blood drawn in Mexico. Also didn't want to deal with foreign documents getting translated, etc. My parents got married in a courthouse so I thought it would be fun to follow in their footsteps, plus FI's grandpa isn't traveling to MX so we've invited him to join us, which will be special for him. Erin, it's called Gangster's Dueling Piano Bar and it's in Newport, next to the Syndicate, if that helps. A few blocks behind Hofbrauhaus! Speaking of Hofbrau I'd love to join you on your day We can finally meet! I found the $0.97 first aid kits at Target and packs of gum/mints at the dollar store. Placed an order for pashminas today! My welcome bags are starting to get thick!

-ShortNSweet- I love the note in your wedding favor bags. -Meghan and Erin, thank you so much for offering to share your extras with me. Problem is that I need enough for about 50 people, so I think I need to keep shopping. I appreciate your offers -Don't get me started on bridesmaid frustrations. 2/3 of mine aren't even coming. I'm making my sister my maid of honor and my MOM my maitron of honor, hehe. We have an awesome groups of guests coming but I didn't want to use "filler bridesmaids" so since none of my "Bestest" girls are getting their a$$es to mexico I thought it would be more meaningful to ask my mom. Rollin with the punches... Or maybe it's time to redefine "bestest" ... -Did i mention i'm doing an ALL-WHITE wedding? Asking all the guests to wear white! So tacky, I love it -My mugs arrived from DiscountMugs.com and I must say I'm quite happy with them. I know they got some poor reviews on here, but I went in knowing that, so I was patient with time, and kept my expectations low. Ended up pleased! Same story with my knock-off wedding dresses. -FI's Bachelor party was this past weekend in WINDSOR, Canada! I'm pretty sure everyone followed the rules: No one gets arrested, injured or diseased! He went straight to a conference in Florida so I haven't seen him yet, but it sounds like they had a good, mellow (?) time. -My party is this Saturday in CINCI- ERIN EBREDHAWK- Do you want to come!?!?!?! Everyone else is invited too, if you can make it! We're going to a dueling piano bar.... it's a combination bachelorette party for me and a friend who are getting married 2 weeks apart- another April bride! I don't expect anything too wild since we invited our moms to come along... haha

Erin, I totally got in on CinciTan's VDay weekend palooza! Got a package for the diamond bed (the 99% UV-A/non-burning bed), been going for 7-min sessions. I'd burn at 8 mins too! 7 has been good so far. I'm going about twice a week. Generally I'm anti-tan, but this is my wedding and I want to look my best I'm trying to put together hangover kits. I remember seeing packages of mini hand sanitizers, 3 for $1, but now I can't remember where that was! I want to find individually packaged meds too, it's surprisingly difficult!! Has anyone checked Sam's Club? I know there's a seller on ebay who sells 100 ibuprofen for $4.44 but shipping alone is nearly $6. Lame! I still need to find the actual bags. I was thinking either drawstring bags or other basic/inexpensive bags that I don't plan to personalize. Anyone have suggestions for a good seller? I should receive my mugs tomorrow, hope they look okay!

Welcome back MRS Shellk!!!! Your pictures are beautiful! Despite the rain, the dramatic skyline is very sexy! I'd like to hear about your meeting with the wedding coordinators: was it difficult to make your decisions on the spot? Dinner: where did you guys eat? Recommendations? Music when walking down the aisle. Recommendations?! WELCOME HOME!!! -
Hola! I've been m.i.a... things are crazy. Some good, some not as good. I've jumped on the tanning bandwagon too. Got a tanning package at Cincinnati Tan (you too, erin?!) and am sloooowly seeing improvement. I'm pale and freckled otherwise, so it's a nice change and it feels good to get HOT in the middle of february! I love the mug sticker idea. I ordered mugs from discountmugs.com and am keeping my fingers crossed that they look okay. Tracy- you're a hot mama. Love your teaser photos!!

I had not thought about that before so thought I would pass the information along. It’s a good thread to check out if you haven’t already. Shelk: I hope you are having a fabulous time at your wedding! I have my legal day Feb. 24th and leave Feb. 27th for Mexico Do you know if we need to bring any of the legal stuff to RPRM I was told that we won't get the official documents back from our legal day until 6-8 weeks after we actually do the civil ceremony. ahh, in that case i hope we don't need them for the resort! Learning more and more every day not to sweat the small stuff. It's all small stuff!! -
Wanted: Hair flower by Mikiye (Etsy)
KimmyG replied to BeachBride10's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
Me too. I've been searching Etsy. There's a lot of great finds if you search "hair flower feather" -
Tracy your BD outfits are perfect! BD is on my mind as well Wear dramatic makeup if you plan to do black/white photos. I think silhouette pictures look great: pose in front of a sunny window to get that effect! Lets talk legal marriage- are you guys doing it at home or at your destination? If at home, before or after your trip?

Oops i had a mixup: Sorry Tracy, I meant my note about doing a good job handling the BM situation well to you; and to to Meghan I meant to send you best wishes regarding the bachelor party situation. I HATE when I know people are holding information back from me, there is really nothing more frustrating! Glad to hear it's a ski trip, that sounds harmless. But harmless or not, it's hurtful that they wouldn't tell you. I ordered my wedding cake topper from Etsy. Custom made to look like me, FI, and our dog. It's adorable! Lynn was great to work with, I'd definitely recommend her! Here's the link... Etsy :: Reserved for kimmmyg hehe... I wasn't sure if I should show FI or not bc she did such a great job of replicating my dress!

What a fantastic story. I would love to see those photos!! -
Meghan- sorry to hear about the bridesmaid stress. I think you handled it well and based on her responses it sounds like she'll truly stick by your side and you made a good decision in selecting her. Bridesmaids are causing me major stress. I originally selected 3: my sister and 2 cousins. Sister is booked. One cousin is NOT coming, and the other cousin won't book her trip until last minute. I'm so frustrated. None of my close girlfriends are coming so I can't pick them as replacements either I'm considering asking my mom. I'm happy that other girlfriends will be there but I don't want to look at pictures 5 years from now, not know if i'll still be in touch with those people, and know that i just picked them as replacements. I'm so disappointed with my cousins that they couldn't step up when i needed them Need to finalize my mug order. DiscountMugs have a great price but I've read a couple not-so-great reviews. Are there people out there who have had good experiences with them? I know it's risky to go with them but I can't afford many of the other alternatives. Need to prepare my pre-travel brochure. That's high on the to-do list. I'm jealous of the stay-at-home chicas. I'll be working for a long time as the sole income while FI goes through school (he left the military to go back to school). Puts a damper on the kid plans too, as the only income it'll be a lot of pressure to go back to work quickly. I think kids are in the 4-year plan, but def. not the 2-year plan. I'm in a crabby mood, sorry for my negativity. Damn bridesmaids

Enjoy your journey, Shellk! We're so excited for you! Regarding the transfer bus/taxi- skip the taxi, it would be a very expensive trip. Find a transfer bus that will take you directly to RPRM with no stops on the way. Orrrr, just enjoy the lengthy transfer bus with the stops: I hear that at each stop the resorts get nicer and nicer, and the RPRM is the nicest one of all, so you will be so excited when you see it!! Hey everybody! I finally got my 2-month email from Riu, that was super exciting After talking with all you girls there were no surprises, which was nice. For the married girls- did you actually track down confirmation numbers for all your guests? I might try to just gives dates booked, if I can get away with that. For my 50% nonresponders... I spoke to a bunch of them (email/phone) to confirm their plans. Those who had verbally declined in the past I documented that officially in my spreadsheet (haha). There's still a few drifters out there as well as a few "MAYBE's"- those are the worst! Give me a YES or a NO already, you had enough time to get your business in order so make up your mind already!!! About 5 single girls are really holding up my numbers (i hope they come!). Until I have a firm head count I don't want to make welcome-bag purchases yet. This weekend I want to put together a pre-travel brochure with info on RPRM, travel, Riviera Maya, etc. Anyone have a template they'd like to share? It sounds like a daunting task to start from scratch. So much more on my to-do list. Gah! ShellK- YOU'RE UP, CHICA!!! Very excited for you!! -

So now I am stuck between the two which I both love with similar prices. I will go back to both stores sometime soon and try them on and see which one feels more me! On a side note, I just got exciting news that I got the internship I wanted in Vegas for this summer! Super excited, but a little anxious about finances since when I applied for this internship it was at the beginning of summer 09 when I wasn't planning a wedding. Oh well, my FI is super supportive and says we will make it work! Heck yeah you can make it work- a summer in Vegas sounds fantastic! Don't put your life on hold to plan a wedding, bc the wedding will be fabulous any way you do it. I have dress indecision. I ordered a second "knockoff" dress, this one from Landy bridal. It's in the mail and should get here soon. I really hope I like it bc the first one I ordered (from another company) didn't excite me the way I had hoped. For all the $ I spent on 2 knockoffs I should have just bought the original I had my eye on in the first place! Well, my RSVP date has passed (last Friday) and we got less than a 50% response rate. Lovely. The nonresponders are officially UNinvited! hehe -

My wedding is in just over 2 months and TWO out of my THREE bridesmaids STILL HAVEN'T BOOKED and they're implying they might not be able to make it. Wish I would have known this, oh 1.5 years ago when I asked you to be a bridesmaid!!!! Destination weddings bring out the best and the worst in people, i suppose. Bridesmaids have been the only source of stress in this wedding planning!
