Has anyone tried to "special order" a cake at the Riu Palace Riviera Maya? I'd be afraid to give them complicated instructions unless I know they could handle it!

There's TONS of information on "trash the dress" on the forum- basically, it's an opportunity to take all the fun pictures you could dream of, without worrying about getting your dress dirty. Some people reuse their wedding dress, others use a second (lesser expensive) dress. In most of the pictures people roll around in the sand, in the water... all the great pictures you'd love to take but would be afraid to do on your wedding day minutes before your reception! I think most people do this the day following their wedding.

I know "horror stories" exist, but what's the worst that could happen? If you don't receive the dress or it's not what you expected you can cancel the charge from your credit card. I'd go in with expectations that it won't be perfect but it might just be fabulous Please share which one you ordered everyone and post here when you get it!!!!!!

LOVE this idea!!!! Just mentioned it to my fiance and he doesn't seem to think guests will use it or like it. I think they will. And if they don't- then I'LL have a lifetime supply of personalized chapstick, haha. Has anyone else ordered from another company? How was the quality/flavor of those?

I think you can totally ROCK IT with a $1000 budget. Just be smart about it and get creative! Don't go out and buy everything today... price shop: wait till plastic utensils go on sale and use coupons. Buy frozen burgers when they are on sale and keep them in your freezer. Go to the dollar store for decorations (candles, balloons, tablecloths, etc). Consider making cupcakes instead of buying a big cake. You don't need to cater it, get friends to help however they can (on the grill, setting up food...)! Don't be discouraged, you can do it!!! At the end of it all, it's a PARTY with your friends and family, how much you spent/skimped shouldn't sour the occasion!

You said your flight was pretty low priced... can you share how much? I initially wanted to do the wedding in Hawaii but flight/hotel prices would have scared all our guests away. I hope they keep coming down because I haven't booked anything yet! Thanks for the article!

With the DJ being $1000, I'd rather buy a KiCK BUTT transportable BOSE system to bring with us- it'll cost way less and you'll be able to keep it at the end! Additionally, you won't have to worry about a dj busting out the chicken dance and macarena!

Ugly situation, sorry to hear I think you should definitely speak with her in person and keep your cool the whole time. Explain that you were hurt by her words and it took a lot of courage for you to be able to speak with her again. Great topic because I was thinking the same thing. I guess it depends on what kind of person you are- if you'll be able to relax in the days leading up to the wedding or if you'll be all jitters. It's my understanding that at Riu resorts you only have to arrive 2 business days before the wedding, not 4.

Keep your eyes open in less-than-expected places: I was in White House Black Market and found a wedding dress in exactly my size (an online return) marked down to $199 because it was the only one. I might go back and get it

May seems like the perfect time to go. If you can get a dress by then, you'll be all set Maybe search by price and that can help determine which location you should go to. Don't forget to tell the cruise line that it's your wedding/honeymoon and you may get upgraded!!
