My first dress shopping experience I went alone and I highly recommend it. I had 1-on-1 time with the lady helping me and it worked out perfectly. I found 1 dress that stood apart from the rest, but she didn't pressure me to buy it that day because she knew I wanted to bring back my mom to see it. It was fun, efficient, and low pressure.

I think you made a great choice. It's perfect on you. This forum will keep you thinking about things, long after you thought you'd made a final decision!!

It's impossible to please everyone, you have to do what YOU and your FI want and that's the bottom line. You can still make it special for your grandmother and grandpa: invite them to your legal day when you get married in the courthouse at home. Most people don't invite or tell anyone about it (to keep the focus on the dw) but it might mean a lot to them and to you if you invite them there.

Ask the wedding coordinator at your resort if she'd lay them down before guests arrive. That seems reasonable!
