  1. We were together almost 7 years when he proposed and will be together 8 by the time we get married. We have lived together for 5 years. Most people say that they've considered us married for a while now.

    Just Engaged!!

Congratulations and Welcome! What helped me decide on location- was deciding what was most important. Did we want an exotic local or for the cost to be reasonable. Was the beach very important or the resort. Did I want to go to a resort that had 5 weddings a day or only one. These questions helped narrow it down.

    Congratulations and Welcome. Happy planning.
  11. Hi, Welcome and Congratulations. I agree about the lack of character of many of the resorts, but I decided that the convenience of the AI just was too hard to resist. I wanted someplace where we could all spend time together without any worries. I also hate planning things and most of the AI's do a lot of the planning for you. It's a tough decision. A lot of people will also do a trash the dress photo shoot at more exotic locals getting some great shots there.
  12. Welcome. This was a hard decision for me as well. I decided to go with a resort for convenience and I wanted to invite everyone- so I ran the risk with a smaller hotel of having to cut the guest list. That was probably the hardest decision we had to make. Good luck with the planning.
  13. Congratulations and Welcome. Good luck with the planning.

  16. Welcome and Congratulations. I looked at pictures from others weddings to help me decide which resort we wanted. I also narrowed down what was most important (exotic local vs. friends and family being able to afford to come). Happy planning.
  17. Congratulations and welcome. I don't feel quite so strange- my fiance and I have been together 8 years. Good luck with planning.
  18. Congratulations and welcome.
  19. Welcome. My favorite of those three was Moon Palace, but they have a small beach or no beach- I don't remember. I looked at pictures of others wedding to help me narrow down the choices. Good luck.

For the Boarding Pass STD I just used Microsoft Word (I just put a picture from their images). I got the template from someone on this message board. For the Passports I used Microsoft Powerpoint- again the template was from someone on this board. I printed them on the printer at my Fiance's office (just a laser printer). I printed on regular white cardstock I got at Target. I printed the Boarding Pass Ticket Jacket and the covers of the Passports on my regular Epson Inkjet at home. I used a thicker, textured cardstock- It's AC Cardstock Textured Solid Core Cardstock (It was on clearance at Michaels when I made these). This cardstock didn't fit into all types of printers (especially those with a tray). Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
  21. I take mine off all the time- to shower, clean, sleep, work out, etc. I just keep the ring box handy (I bring it when I go on trips). I still am not quite used to wearing it and we've been engaged for a year. I once read somewhere that you should treat your ring like a fancy dress- would you wear that in the shower? It's totally your preference, but I have no qualms about taking it off.
  22. Okay- I am having a mini freak out. It's five months until the wedding and I haven't really done anything. We have our date booked and our room booked and have a travel agent and a room block. I sent out invitations. Oh yeah and got a photographer (ok I did a few things). But I haven't done anything for the wedding. We didn't pick a package or decide on location or music or anything. Should I have done this already? I don't even have a clue how to get started planning the wedding part. Are you planning beforehand? How do you know what you want or what you need? Should I be asking the coordinators questions? I don't even know what to ask. How did you start figuring out what you need/want for the ceremony and reception?
  23. If you want to bring an outside photographer it is a $300 fee. I am not as sure about the DJ. I know that there is a $300 fee, but I believe there are other fees involved (something to do with power) as well and you have to pay for a member of Swank to be there to oversee the other DJ (this might be wrong, but I heard that somewhere). I know others have used outside DJs so I believe in the end the cost comes out similar to using Swank. You might want to look into exactly what the fees associated with using an outside DJ are.
