I have been working with Carole and has responded well to me and my fiance. But the rates she has given me the internet prices beat which is bothering me a lot anyone else having this problem? I am with you on the TA rates vs the internet rates. We still have not fully decided whether or not to go through a TA. My parents say that they rather book themselves, if they can save 1-200 dollars on each person, that is a big chunk of change. I certainly know there are advantages to using a TA though, including if there are any problems. I am now starting to get VERY concerned about the potential of the resort overbooking - especially with so many weddings during our week. It seems that there's no real guarantee though, even TA's can't guarantee that you won't be bumped. I'm hoping that since it's low season there won't be as much of a chance of the resort selling out, but I really have no idea. And you ladies who are inviting so many people make me even more nervous! haha. Anyway, I don't know what we are going to do. I have found VERY reasonable rates on the internet....

But it definitely seems super hectic over there. I went for a site visit a couple weekends ago, and the resort is amazing. We didn't get to stay there unfortunately, but we did have access to the Gran Porto, which is very nice too. Since I booked with the "new" pricing, the vendor fee was $350, so I am using the Royal's photographer. Luckily they use Dorremix for the DJ! I have a question about getting a group rate...They told me I need to put down a deposit for the 1st night of each room. That seems a little crazy to me. I tried getting a TA to help me with this but he said he can't get in touch with them. Does anyone have a block of rooms there without a deposit?? Welcome! I don't know anything about the group rate, sorry!

I also think it's important to remember that we are planning weddings in a different country. Although this by no means excuses all the crap that some of you have gone through (and i haven't experienced it), I think this is part of having a destination wedding. My hairdresser got married at the Iberostar a year ago november and she had a very hard time getting in touch with her WC prior to the wedding - i think this is a common thread among destination weddings. Perhaps partly a cultural difference (slower pace, etc), but I do believe that every one of us will come back from our weddings with a big huge smile on our faces!!!

Just a little FYI! I have never heard that, about beer. I was down there last year and had no problem drinking draft beer, in fact everyone does - the Mexican "house" beer (Dos Equis) is actually on tap at most resorts. You definitely can't drink the water and shouldn't even brush your teeth with tap water, but as long as it's filter it's ok....

Hey Natalie - there is, i think it was just recently changed to $300. However, I also think that if your photographer is staying at the Royal you can get the fee waived - I would talk to your WC.

I am not sure if my wedding planner has had these problems, mostly she has been fighting with Air Canada, because they are not very good with their customer service. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone had any advice about the age restriction at the resort. I know it is 16+, but my FI has an uncle who wants his daughter to come, she will be 15 and a half. Do you think they are flexible with the age a bit, or are they super anal about it? Thanks! Shirley (October 28th, 2010) Shirley - The Royal is an adults only resort, meaning guests have to be 18+. Those under 18 and families can stay at the Gran Porto and attend the wedding ceremony and reception.

That also explains why the wedding department is overwhelmed! I can not stress enough to have your guests book ASAP and that if the resort sells out-which is highly likely- that they are responsible to pay the day pass! That should get them to hurry up! I want to get the invites out within the next month, which will give people plenty of time to plan. I imagine everyone will book at their own rate.

Do they give better rates if you book in advance and several rooms? Also, how is the size of the beach in November? Thanks again! Hi My wedding is shortly before yours and I have started researching rates as well. I don't have too much to offer you but I do know that the room rates can change pretty often. Having said that, I'm not exactly sure how much they will fluctuate or lower. My guess is that they won't lower significantly - after all the resort is 5 star and all-inclusive. But that's just my hunch...I don't plan on booking through the hotel, it's MUCH cheaper to go through a website where you can get package deals (if not going through a travel agent). You can almost get a package for the price of just the room, through the resort. I do know that November isn't considered their high season, though...

Your best bet is probably to just email them directly and get a quote. I had one, at some point in time, and forget the exact numbers (they differ for Matt and his wife vs their assistants) but they averaged around 5k. They aren't cheap!!

I think someone on here was talking about taking photos before the ceremony and I kind of wish we would have done this. Although it messes up the first look at the ceremony I know the first look anyway will be amazing. ALso, alot of the lighting depends on the time of year... so, you might be fine! Thanks so much for all the compliments... teri Hi Teri - My ceremony will be at 4, as well. Originally I was told it would be at 5 but I guess because of the whole daylight thing, it's better to have it at 4. With that, around what time did your reception start? I'm a little concerned that with the time being pushed back, the entire wedding will be done with by 8:30 (1/2 hour for cocktail and reception lasting 3 hours). How did your time line work out?? Also, was your dance floor the one that the resort provides? It looks a little small, how did you guys feel about it? thx!! Thx -

Real is the name of the resort company name ("The Real Resorts"), so I'm not sure if you are referring to the actual resorts themselves, or not....

I might have missed this in previous posts, but, you aren't having your reception at the resort (or, I don't know what the Kool Beach Club is...)? I got an email from Jill regarding her TA services, I totally agree with you all that a TA is the way to go. I will talk to her more to see if she's the one we want to work with...do you have a sense of how far out you guys will book your trip - I just thought about it today and there are 3 of us having our weddings on the 11th and 12th! Me, you and Randi will have to meet up for a celebratory-bridal beverage!!
