I have to completely disagree Alberto. First of all, no one company is considered "the best" in this industry. Its a personal opinion and by no means should one company be held as a benchmark for what "the best" is. What one couple may see as attractive is not what the next well see. Therfore a client needs to look for what they find appealing and pursue comapanies that shoot that style. Secondly, the link to the equipment you have posted is a tool that is commonly used by many videographers. If someone is looking for a cinematic style wedding video then it would be a strong asset to create that feel. I also would not hold the prices as a benchmark with regards to what is good. In our local market that is the average price for videography. And yes there are companies that charge over 10k and some do shoot HD and some do shoot true film. Calling these companies out of date is simply not the case. Although the average person may not budget this kind of money for a videographer does not mean it is out of date.

Their are certainly many great points that Alberto made however I would be cautious not to get to caught up on some of those details. I would again recommend looking for someone who suits your style and what your looking for first. With regards to a figure, it is pretty hard to say. You may find something you think looks great for $1000.00 however if you continue to look you'll see some videographers can chargers +$10,000.00. It really comes down to watching videos and finding what you like.

Thats a great question. Just like photography every videographer has a certain style that is reflected by their work. I would defiantly recommend picking something that you want. It's really a difference if you want to have something you want to watch over and over or rather then sit on the shelf somewhere. With regards to price I would recommend emailing a bunch of videographers you like and go from there.

Hey Guys! One thing you may want to consider is not limiting yourself to a local Cinematographer. I would recommend you look around online for someone that offers what you truly want and inquire about travel. You never know what they may offer you in terms of pricing until you ask ;-)

Erika Typically a separate camera isn't used as most cameras are now HD compatible, if activated on the camera. However upgrading to HD typically costs more then Standard Definition as it takes much longer to edit and some other costs are also assoicated with HD. One issue that many people have however is after shooting/ editing HD, you need to be able to watch it. DVD are not HD. Blu-Ray is the only medium that can take HD and play it back on a HD TV. We always typically film in HD no matter what and then distribute on DVD. Although the DVD is standard defenition we find the quality is better. We also offer a blu-ray option.
