OK, now that I've read message after message, $3,400 sounds like A LOT!! I've read quotes that were $2,000 - $2,500. I would be curious to know how much y'all paid for a one week stay at the Palace. Thanks!

Hi Past & Future Barcelo Brides!! My fiance and I are getting married at the Palace on January 8, 2010. We put the date on hold with Claudia. A few days ago we called the hotel directly to make a reservation for our week stay. It was a little pricey...$3,400...but it includes everything as you all know, and we got an oceanview suite! Does this price sound accurate? They didn't require a deposit which we found odd. I mean, we are having our wedding there...wouldn't they want that guaranteed? We then proceeded to email Claudia with our confirmation number. She hasn't responded yet. So, there's no deposit for our reservation (which we were told we could cancel up to 48 hrs prior), yet our wedding will be on hold? This all sounds strange. What was the process with everyone else? How were payments made? Upon arrival? Any feedback/advice would be great!! Thanks Sandra

Hi Barcelo Maya brides!!!!! Has anyone receieved any updates with 2010 packages and pricing? I am getting anxious here! I also wanted to ask previous brides about their package choice and how many guests it included? How much was each additional guest? Was it a 4-course dinner? Also, how much to upgrade flower arrangements for tables or bride's bouquet? And chair sashes? My colors are orange and teal. I would like white tablecloths and chair covers but would like teal chair sashes and perhaps a table runner. Is this something that's included or would I have to bring them myself? I'm so confused HELP! Sandra

one of the many reasons why we want a destination wedding is because we don't want to deal with the "bridal party drama"...we've both been in weddings on several occasions and honestly, i can't say i've enjoyed it! i had to wake up early, get my hair done, pictures pictures pictures, off to church...bored, bored bored...pictures, pictures, and more pictures...i remember last year when i was in my best friend's wedding we were at the park after church and i had to pee sooooooooooooo bad!!!!! i hadn't gone since early morning! haha. i had to wait a couple hours to go potty at the reception hall!!! now seriously, who wants that?!?! we would rather it be us and our friends and family can enjoy at their own pace, and not feel forced with time and such! we are having a flowergirl (my niece) and ring barrier (his nephew)...and thankfully, they're both older, so there's no kiddy drama! it's the beach in mexico...it should all be relaxed good luck ladies!

Aw!! I'm so excited to have someone that's sharing our date also!!! Especially in Riviera Maya also! YAHHHH!! So you sent your save the dates last June (a year and a half away?) Oh jeez! I was going to send them out in March/April! We figured 9 months would be enough...oh dear, is it!? So my fiance and I chose Barcelo Maya Palace on Jan 8, 2010. We were told that their new rates wouldn't be posted until March/April. We are in the midst of house hunting...but would love to squeeze in some time for early wedding planning. Does anyone have a list they worked off of? An order in which you planned? We don't know what to do first!! Create our list? Send out STD? How early on? We are anticipating about 40 guests and don't have a wedding party except a flower girl and ring bearer. Should I start looking for my dress? I plan on losing weight though! HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!

We had heard that their 2010 prices would be posted in March/April...I know that seems like so far away, but you'll still have almost 10 months for all your planning! Hope this helps

Hi Meagan! We doubled checked with the WC at Barcelo and she confirmed our day! She didn't require a deposit or anything, but wants confirmation with booking our room as soon as the new rates are up!

When we contacted Claudia she said that outside vendors including photographers are allowed...however, I'm fairly certain their stay needs to be booked at Barcelo...hope this helps!

Hi! OK...so we've decided to have our wedding at Barcelo Maya Palace (that is where we'll be staying). We have several kids attending (ie, my brother and sister in law have 3 kids - ages 8, 6, 2)... Do any of the rooms at any of the Barcelo Maya resorts have suites? Like 2 bedroom or a pull out couch? I checked online and all I found were junior suites which can have 2 queen beds...how would extra children be accommodated? Has anyone run into the same problem? Thankssssssssss! Sandra

We've finally decided on Barcelo Maya!!!! We would like to book January 8, 2010 (1 year from today!! YAHHHH!!!!)...we've contacted the hotel and the wedding coordinator and were told we couldn't reserve the date until their new 2010 quotes are up which would be until March/April!!! I'm freaking out because I want to send my STD's in March, what if they don't have our day available?!?!?!? I guess my STD's would just say "Riviera Maya, Mexico" and not name the location, and if all else fails we'd choose a different location! But we really have our hearts set on having it at Barcelo! Is anyone else having it there in 2010? Have you been told the same thing! Thanks!
