Scott, I got married at MDV last year and I could not have asked for anything more. They were accommodating to everything and I will absolutely return to MDV. The staff is unbelievable, whatever you read on tripadvisor or anywhere does not compare to what these villas actually are. They took my breath away and I think I viewed every picture available before I went. If you want to send me a private message with your email I can show you some of my pics. You have picked the best place in Jamaica if not the Caribbean to get married. No worries they take care of everything with out you even noticing. Good Luck!

I did the party flops and i'm really happy with them, both the service and the product. I went cheap on the bags since i didnt think people would really use them. I got the bags at oriental trading company and they were about a dollar each. Also my Aunt makes home made soap thats amazing so she's doing like a tropical blend for the bags. But I definitely recommend party flops, just when less DIY project.

I'm such as party animal though and I wanted a huge party, but we are having a home reception so we can still party. The problem lies here: Say we only have 5 guests staying on the resort and say we end up with 10-15 people staying offsite (a strong possibility) we can only have 5 more guests come to wedding. That's moondance's policy. We told everyone that they need to stay on the resort to avoid this, but they somehow think its better/cheaper from them to stay off site. We broke it down for them and showed them that they would be spending the same amount of money or more staying at their other chosen places once they factor in food and transportation. Moondance resort is an ALL Inclusive place and you literally don't have to lift a finger once you arrive. I don't know, thanks for your replies ladies. I'm going to stay positive. I know it will be a beautiful day. I guess the apprehension is normal! Dont fret!! I'm in the same boat, but you can still have people come off site even if the numbers dont match up. If you look at there website they have a 75 dollar fee for off sight guests. I mean it wouldnt be ideal thats for sure, if anything we'll only be a few people off. It will add up if you have the majority staying off site. I found out today that my future in-laws got DENIED for their PASSPORT!! I think they have enough time, but what do you do when u get denied. They were in the process of moving states and there address and license didnt match, who knows!!!!!

I think the prices are pretty reasonable, you do need a minimum order of 45 I believe. If I can get them shipped directly to Negril I'll probably go for it. approx 6 bucks a piece. I've also bought drawstring bags I plan to put them in and some other things. I'll let you know about the product if we decide to go that route.

How as your experience been so far? Thanks :-) the wedding planner for the villas is really organized, although not so quick to respond. We had sent a few emails back and forth like 9 months before the wedding and really hadn't settled on alot of things. Well 6 months till the wedding I get a huge email, well written, addressing everything and asking for decisions I hadn't made yet. If you need advise on music and flowers there are some really great forums, but I found that what everyone loved on the forums, is what the wedding planner also recommended. what is your date? and where in VA do you live? I also think there are many decisions you probably don't fully commit to until you get there. Happy Planning!!

waliandayanna: 6/6/09! Thats crazy I'll only be a there a few weeks earlier than you! My brother lives in Arlington, I'm just down 81 in Staunton. I just Oneika some decisions with regards to music and flowers. My one big concern is that we have two sets of grandparents that are going to be there, I worry about their walking ability in the sand. We'll probably end up with half of the resort I have a really good map on my website, it shows everything on the beach, in regards to which hotels would be convenient. Tom & Jody - wedding website by mywedding.com Have you decided what you're doing for music and everything? I got new suitcases for xmas, I've been wanting to pack them since but have resisted the temptation!

What are your thoughts? Has anyone else been quoted pricing for the reception at the Cliffs? Thank you! Claudette I got quoted at 115 for the entire day all you can eat/all you can drink. But thats for moondance villas

Plus, I want to be on the beach. You have to take a taxi to the beach from the cliffs. I visited the villas last year and it was spectacular. Moondance has amazing service so I'm sure the cliffs will be the same quality. Thats awesome! That's where Im getting married in June, whats your date? I've never visited but my travel agent cant say anything but its the best place in Negril. We rented all the villas so far, but I dont think we'll fill them all with guests, we also reserved rooms at crystal waters and Beachcomber, because moondance was so expensive we wanted people to have options. I've been planning with Oneika (the wedding planner) more and more, she's making it very easy to stay organized, which is usually not my strong point. Good luck!! Cant wait to hear more about your story! PS, I'm living in VA, my brother lives in DC, SMALL WORLD!!

Coyaba Resort -Mobay Brides post here!
Jodyann08 replied to Myda77's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
I'm not getting married in Coyaba, but am having my two week honeymoon there. My travel agent went this fall and took pics for me, if anyones interested. -
sorry but I've never been to moondance cliffs, it wasn't complete before I started planning. I have been told that the road leading out there is pretty desolate (from other people that have been). You just have to remember they're just now finishing construction, they probably wont have much plant life, or grass, that takes awhile to grow. Last I looked they didnt even have reviews on trip advisor. If you ask me its kinda a risk not knowing what it looks like. But my wedding planner at moondance villas sent me a brochure for moondance cliffs spa, i looks nice they have alot of unique services. Good Luck!

Thanks so much for your post!! I have a family that will dance no matter what musics played but its definitely one of the most important parts of a reception!

Anyone working with Tai Flora?

Then I tried the silk route which did not go at all as planned... (you can find a thread on that one) Eventually with only a few weeks till my wedding I just ended up using who the hotel uses .. which is Tia Floral... I loved my flowers that were provided.. but I am still thinking on the possible idea of what they would have been like if Floral Fantasy was like. I guess it's you never know... Def email Floral though and you can get a vibe from that ... or give them a call ... I think they may have an 800 number... they are quick to respond back and very nice. Thanks so much for the info! Its so difficult to make a decision when all you're seeing is their websites, and tai floral has a really nice website and fantasy's could probably use a lil work, haha. -

The guests loved it! After that, the band left and John Wheatley was the "DJ." I had emailed him and talked to him on the phone several times before the wedding to make sure he had the music that I wanted and that I could hook up my iPOD to his equipment just in case. He assured me that he had tons of music and all the songs I specifically requested. Unfortunately, all he had was about 10 CD's that I had never heard of. He didn't even have any Bob Marley. I then asked him if I could hook up my iPOD and he said his equipment could not accomodate that because he didnt have the right cable (the one that hooks to the speakers). I was definitely not happy! Fortuantely, one of my guests had the iPOD cable in his room at the hotel and took a cab back to get it for me. If it weren't for my guest, there would have been several hours of horrible music! That is the one and only thing that went wrong at my wedding. The ceremony on the beach was beautiful and all my other wedding plans, arrangements, vendors, etc. turned out wonderful. Hope that helps! Thanks so much for that info, it sucks when someone gives you false hopes, at least you saved the rest of us from using him!

I'm trying to make some decisions so I'm turning to all u jamaican brides! We're getting married in Jamaica 6/6/09 and an at home reception 8/8/09. Who do you invite to the shower? just people whom are invited to Jamaica? or someone invited to either? Also I gag at the thought of doing a gift registry, I've actually gone thru the motions but cant stomach the thought of people buying me things I really dont want/need. My fiancee and I own our home, and have lived together for 3 years, I'm perfectly content with the things I have, if I wanted something from bed bath and beyond I'll go get it, thanks! I've heard of donating to charity and people buying you things to do on your honeymoon ( a nice dinner, an outing etc.) Does anyone have any suggestions to a website that may correlate all that. There are some things that I would like, but I want people to use their creativity, I was hoping to compile a general list, but how do you avoid getting a million of the same thing? Thanks so much for any suggestions you ladies can give!!!! Check out my wedding website: Tom & Jody - wedding website by mywedding.com

well, it looks like i'm not the norm on this forum! We're absolutely having a reception at home. we have approx. 40-50 people going to jamaica, then at a home party we're having 250-350 (still have a few months to plan that) I will admit i've had to give and take, due to budget restrictions, mainly no live band in jamaica just steal drums for the walk down the aisle and a dj for the rest of the night. But we are planning on having a live band at home since more people will get the satisfaction from it. We're getting married at Moon Dance and then having AHR at my parents house. The AHR will have a cigar roller, food, booze, etc. Ya know just me and 200 of my parents closest friends, hell they're paying for it!!!!

Steel Drum Band / DJ Suggestions??

To some extent you do have to trust the property, and it is crazy, but I've found you can't control everything at a destination wedding. Jamaica does not share our internet culture, everyone is not online nor do they have access to a computer like we do. If you can't find an alternative you can "check out" or that comes with a referral then make a playlist from your ipod or burn a CD or two with songs and have the DJ play them for your parties. Hi I was just wondering if I could get the contact info for that DJ? I looked at your link/playlist and it seems like we have the same style. Thanks -
great ideas, thanks
