  1. Ladies- Here is a link to my dress. I think I bought it impulsively 2 weeks after the engagement. I love it, but I have seen so may others that I LOVE. I need some reassurance as I don't think I can return it. What do you think? David's Bridal - Halter side-draped georgette slim gown with brooch detail.
  2. I really like the strappy ones. Where did you get them? I got white flip flops (about 2 inches high) with rhinestones from David's Bridal. I was planning on wearing them for the ceremony and maybe getting heels for the reception?

We may also include something in the ceremony. I agree with binzer.. its okay if people are a little sad; its a different kind of sad, almost a happy one because they will be remembering the person they loved. That's so sweet. My Grandmother also left me her engagement ring (which was her mother's engagement ring) before she passed away almost 2 years ago. I will have to think about how to include that. Although, I don't know how people feel about that. To me the ring is very special, but I have been getting weird reactions and comments. Have you?

I have never been married so this is a big deal to me. I have a 13 year old son from a previous relationship. I think this is a good idea to unite us together as a family. How does the sand ceremony work? I'll have to look that up.

For the albums, I did not order those yet. I plan too soon though. If anyone else does, let me know the quality. Happy planning girls.

I ordered tags online also that say October 11, 2009, David and Darcy's wedding, with a starfish in the middle. I thought I would tie one on each bag.

  11. I ordered 50 collapsable jelly totes on EBAY for $55. We just got them in the mail in 5 different colors (red, lime, blue, black and yellow). They are waterproof, and I think they are PERFECT. What a deal!!! We also bought fans at favorfavor.com for .79 ea.(LOVE them), Shot glasses (or votive candle holder) at efavormart.com. I am thinking of putting these seashell photo albums also for $1.89. I think they were also at favor favor. We are opting for more souvienirish type of stuff for the bags vs practical stuff. We figure everyone will know to bring sunblock, if not they can borrow some from one of the other 50 guests
  12. I just bought my OOT bags on ebay. I got 50 collapsible jelly totes for $55. I already got them and they are perfect. Waterproof, in 5 different colors. I am not sure how many guest are coming yet, but I do have a RSVP link on our website that I have asked people to respond to if they think they are coming. Our wedding isn't until October and I already got 30 RSVP's on there. I was also thinking of putting shot glasses, fans, and maybe a photo album. Check out favorfavor.com, and efavormart.com. They have a lot of great stuff on there. I ordered brown satin bags and blue ribbon to put the shot glasses in. (thise are our colors). Darcy

  14. A few people in my FI's bridal party have started to complain about the cost of travel to our wedding. One of the people has 2 teens, so it would cost a lot for all 3 of them. My FI says he will help his brother no matter what. How much can we help? This wedding is costing way more then anticipated already. I feel bad, and it has been difficult on us strting to feel like we are "putting people out". I don't think it's fair to pay for a few people, and we can't pay for everyone. My own mother has a limited salary and is paying her own way. What would you do?
  15. Any melia brides know if there is music during the cocktail hour with the tropical fairy tail package? What kind of music? Thanks!
  16. Try ebay. There is a lot there, I think I am going to order one but try to get a real flower for my hair when we get there. Use the fake flower as backup.
  17. Really Imapper? Book ASAP? My TA says all the flights from Chicago to Punta Cana aren't even in the system yet.
  18. Thanks skimmy! I did fly direct to punta cana in 2007 on american. I guess they cut back on the flights. i will look into delta, spirit and usa3000. i won't mind having a layover, just not a red eye.
  19. I just found out they are not available for my date October 11th. Bummer! Does anyone have another recommendation. I am getting married at the Melia and have heard bad reviews about their photographer.
  20. sunstarsmoon- i have heard from others about vista print and "free" save the date cards. How do I get them free?
  21. I want to buy my bridesmaids their dresses, but all 3 of them are giving me a hard time. Should I just ge tthem something else? Jewelery?
  22. How far ahead have you booked your flights? I live in Chicago, and am just searching flights to Punta Cana for October and am only finding overnight flights. Is it too far in advance? Thanks
  23. Hi Ladies- Could any of you send me a link where you bought your destination wedding themed invites? I have been browsing, but thought maybe someone here would have a good recommendation. Thanks- Happy planning
  24. Thanks for the advice. It's tough, I work with MOSTLY women. I recently went to a co-workers wedding and there was a TON of drama because some people were left out. Since my fiancee and I BOTH work there it's probably safe to invite everyone. Of course I will be happy if they show up, but there are a few I could do without. I doubt they would come anyway. The community post is a good suggestion. I wonder how to go about that... A sign up sheet, or talk to us if you want an invite Maybe I will send everyone save the date cards and then do the sign up sheet when i start to do the actual invitations. Oh and yours truly- you think that's bad I had someone already "invite" themselves to be a BRIDESMAID!!!!
