    Thanks
They have AMAZING pics including some of the church I am getting married at. I am looking to get a quote from them as well. The quality of the pics are beautiful!

now however, another friend of mine who is getting married as well went there and she loved the service & the store although she ended up getting her dress at bridal fraire after i told her about that place.

good luck if you do decide to go.

another place i was told to check out but never made it too was 'pearl' in port credit.
    Hey Midnight,

I finally made it out to Jealous Bridesmaid out of sheer curiosity. I haven't found my dress yet and I am getting down to the wire. I was one of two brides in the store and had a FANTASTIC experience. I admit their choice of dresses are limited but that worked for me - I didn't feel overwhelmed with all the choices.

They were able to pick out three dresses that suit me perfectly. They let you take off your shoes and wipe your hand with baby wipes before you go in which some people may find snobby but I was impressed with the store and the service there.

I plan to check out Bridal Fashion Fraire as a last resort and then make my selection. I will keep you posted!

A couple other questions i had were...if you hook up an ipod for the dj to use, how would you break to do things like cut the cake or first dance with mother/father?
Usually the dj is in charge of all of that, will they know to do those kinds of things? Do we have to tell them certain times when we want to do this stuff? Thanks for your help!
    Hey magz,

I'm getting married in May as well!! I wasn't planning on going down to Jamaica before the wedding but there was an amazing seat sale, I couldn't pass up. So I will be going in a few weeks!

I will be staying with family, but I plan on meeting with the wedding coordinator (Chic Events) and doing a day visit to the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach, Bellefield Estates, churches and any other potential vendors in the area (Montego Bay).

We don't plan on getting married at the Iberostar but our guests will be staying there. Still, I will most likely meet with the coordinator there just in case we have a change of heart.

I will take plenty pics and provide as much info as I can!!!

Ochie, did you find your dress yet?

I've been searching all over...I fell in love with a Maggie Sorretto dress I found at Bride and Beyond (luckily I had a great woman helping me but I HATE the setup of the store and the one hour time slot rush) but it didn't get the reaction I was looking for from my sisterssad.gif

I also liked a Casablanca dress I found at Beckers Bridal (good selection of dresses).

I'm thinking I might go back for the Maggie dress but we will see.
  5. I bought this book a few months ago. They have some good tips...particularly since I'm not planning an AI wedding. Because I scour the BDW boards so much, I don't think I learned anything THAT new.

I don't write into as much since I think to store most of my info on a flash key or print it out. Perhaps I will use it more when I'm in Jamaica....but its worth a good skim thru while you are at the bookstore.

  6. Hi May Bride,

the BDW forum is a great place to start looking for ideas. Are you trying to go the traditional route? Or do something like a boarding pass invite or passport invite?

templates (main invitation/inserts template_) - very easy to work with

Michaels sells brides.com wedding invitation pacakges. Alot of th work is already done for you o print and add a couple embelishments if you like. Wedding Invitations, Wedding Stationery and more | Brides.com

Otherwise, I would just browse the forum for good ideas!

    Good Luck!

  7. "I figured if the old skoolers will always find SOMETHING..ANYTHING to talk about so run with it and make myself happy!"

    how true!!

With regards to the travel agent..some say they will use their own, others say they are going to wait to book, and there are a few that are calling me with travel questions even though I've directed them to the travel agent..can't winwacko.gif

Either way, I've provided the travel agent details on our website and invitations and advise guests to ultilize her if you wish and if you don't, let us know in the rsvp so we can include them in the overall headcount.

  8. I got this from another board:

    Resort Information/Booking

    Local Activities

What to pack or Wedding Dress Code

    Daily group activities

An “about us” or “how we met” page

    Travel Agent information

    Travel Tips

    Ground Transfer Info

    Rehearsal Info

    Wedding Day Info

    Reception Info

    Welcome Dinner

    Hope this helps

I'm making boarding pass invitations myself. I'm slightly worried how my old skool relatives will take it...but I think they will be great!

I just thought I would share our strategy for saving some $$$ on invites/STDs!

We created a wedding website (through brides.com) with all of the details about the wedding, plus everyone will RSVP on the site too. (I had friends who did the same thing and said only a couple of relatives didn't have internet access, so they just called to RSVP and they updated it manually.)

We were originally going to send out save the dates, but realized that they would say the same thing as the invitations (since the RSVPs are online, along with all of the details, there was no need to do the formal invitations with all of the enclosures). So, we decided to send the invites now, even though it's early. That way, people have even more time to plan and save some money if need be. (I'll post a picture when they're done - we went the DIY route too to save even more $!)

So, basically we cut out the cost of save the dates, the cost of RSVP cards and postage, and the cost of multiple invitation pieces and expensive printing. Plus, we both are pretty environmentally conscious, so we were happy to be able to save a few trees in the process. (And some of the paper I am using for the invites is recycled.) YAY!

Oh, and we went on godaddy.com and bought a personalized web address to use on brides.com so it would be easy for people to remember the site address.
We did the same thing. We created a website as our save the dates but we will be sending a formal invitations very shortly. We will probably include a STD magnet and send out reminder emails/phone calls later if really necessary.

Are you ladies giving a deadling for your RSVP? If so, what date?

Aiming to find BM dresses by end of Summer and my dress by October.

I was going to make an appt at Jealous Bridesmaids! What didn't you like about them? Just so I know what to expect.
