Oh ok. I hope this post brings some attention to it. I like being able to document my wedding planning. I can use it later for my scrapbook. I know, sounds dorky but I love to have the memories down in a book and look back at a great time/experience this is.

In my opinion the dress is one part of the look but you have to add in make up and hair that will make the look/day. I, like many brides, want to look like a million bucks on my wedding day. I do not want to look like "every day me" but " classic, fancy, beautiful me". First, I have dirty blond hair (which I'll highlight to add depth), blue eyes and porcelain skin. That's a nice way of saying pale with rosy cheeks. I do tan a bit but I've avoided tanning beds and over exposure to the sun over the last few years. I will, however, be going to the tanning bad to get a glow before heading off to Italy. I am only doing this to get a little color so I will not burn when we get to Italy and are in the sun everyday. I will continue to wear my 30 spf sunscreen and sunglasses. Anyway, here are my hair and make up inspirations. I like pink and mauve lip colors and I want to make my blue eyes pop, going to do a smoky eye. Since I know only how to do my "everyday" make up, I will be going to Sephora in April to get a lesson, application and buy the goods. I will of course practice and post trial pics. I am not doing my own hair, I booked an appointment for that at a local salon. I am excited about that because it is only a block from my hotel. Please keep in mind, I am not staying at a resort. There seems to be more resort weddings in Mexico and the Caribbean. Hair from the knot.com http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/...arge_image.jpg make up, I'll do a more pink lip color but love the eyes http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/...01_primary.jpg http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/...oto/images.jpg

So I have posted a few blog entries on my blog, which is attached to this website. I noticed that not a lot of brides use this feature and wondering why? I use it to document the planning, feelings, updates, etc. I have only posted three blog entries but plan to do more. I hope it inspires and helps people make decisions. I have found I am more indecisive about my wedding than I thought I'd be. Reading posts and blogs actually helps out. Plus my friends are done hearing about my wedding, but I still think about the wedding 100% of the time. Anyway, just thought I'd draw attention to it. CIAO

Ladies, I bought some vintage style earrings for my big day and purchased my shoes from Zappos. Since we are getting married in a town built on a cliff, I thought a small heal was safer for me. I am naturally a little clumsy. I am very happy with my shoes. They fit very well and are extremely comfortable. Regarding the earrings. My engagement ring is my grandmother's so I decided to get some vintage style items based on that. I think it will all go with my dress and location (Positano, Italy). Dress: Earrings: Shoes:

Simplnsweet- I am Italian-American. My dad is from Italy and so is my fiance's dad. I am from Palana, IT (Abbruzzi) and my fiance's dad is from Luca, IT (Tuscana). We are not beach people so that is why we thought of a European destination vice Mexico or Caribbean. We chose a location that we thought was beautiful and was not where we are from. I am booking this site unseen but I am so excited about everything. I just booked my hair appointment at a salon right up the street from my hotel. I have also talked to people who have been to Positano and no one has said anything bad. That makes me more excited about it all. About the hair, I wear my hair up when I am home or on weekends. Its only down to go to work. I hate hair in my face so the half up-do works best. I also think it is a romantic look. I have to be careful with make up because I am fair but I definitely want to play up my baby-blues. I also have full lips and with my fair skin, I mostly weare mauve and more pink lip glosses so I don't look like a hooker. I know ladies with more olive skin can wear darker lip colors and it looks great. Again, yes, I am Italian but my mom is of Dutch descent so I got all of her genes when it came to my skin color, hair and eyes.

I feel awful about having a shower. We're only inviting a few close friends and immediate family to the ceremony in Italy. We are having an AHR when we return with extended family and friends. My mom's BFF wants to throw me a shower and other friends, who are not coming to Italy, say I should have one because every bride deserves a shower. I just don't want to put anyone out. I agree with another post here. I give and give but when the tables are turned I feel weird. I do think a shower will be fun...well on my terms. What I think we'll do is a luncheon with close girl friends. I don't need anything elaborate and no games. I am so over shower games for both baby and brides.

We chose Italy because we wanted a destination wedding but are not "beachy" people. We were always going to honeymoon there and just thought getting married there was a cool idea. We chose the hotel at which we are staying because of glowing reviews (trip advisor), price and cleanliness. We are getting married at the town hall in Positano because of ease. If we chose a traditional religious ceremony we'd have to go through even more paperwork...we're swamped as it is so I think we made the best decision for us.

Hello everyone! I am trying to plan my hair and make up for my big day this coming May. I am fair complected and have blond hair/blue eyes. I generally see a lot of ideas out there for darker complected ladies. I did find some ideas for both my hair and make up. I also like my hair up but my fiance likes it down, I found some compromises to make us both happy. Here they are... Make up: (image from brides.com) Hair: (Image from the knot.com)

I am so excited that I will be walking down the aisle in 3 months to marry my best friend! I have done so much since my last post on my blog. Here's a little taste: I am currently working on brushing up on my Italian and developing itineraries for the wedding week with family and our honeymoon. When we travel, I have a folder with daily activities. I know it sounds so anal retentive but I am naturally very indecisive and this helps with that tendency. I do have "plan b's" worked in just in case.

May 2010 Brides!
Positanobride10 replied to lil_miss_frogg's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Hi May brides. I am still in the planning stages like everyone else. Since the customs tariffs are so high in Italy, we've decided to mail out our OOT packages as pre-travel packages. They will go out in a few weeks. I will be DIY-ing a lot of it-- which I do love to do. We're getting closer and closer to 2 May when we leave. I am getting more excited. I have a few things left to do but I am on track. I am waiting for a few things like a confirmation of my hair appointment and doing a few things to make our marriage legal in both US and Italy. I cannot wait to be able to post my planning journal. Good luck to all of you, May is only a little over 3 months away!! -

My Shoes!

Great shoes! -
I sent mine out about 10 months early because we are getting married in Europe. I am also going to send out a pre-travel package vice OOT bags due to logistic issues. That will go out in the next few weeks as we are 3 months from our wedding date. So the pre-travel package will have OOT items in it like small travel sized sun screen, Tylenol, Pepto Bismol, a schedule of events, quick reference guide of the area, small Italian phrase book, pashminas for the ladies, and a picture frame for their favorite picture of their trip.

Hi. I am in the same boat as many of you. I am torn between wearing a veil and not wearing a veil. I am getting married in a civil ceremony where it is not customary to wear one. But I think I may want one...Here is my dress. I will be wearing my hair half up with curls. Anyone have any suggestions? As for those getting married in windy locations, paint fishing weights white and sew them into the inside of the seam to keep it down.

My dress is in ... doesn't fit :(

It sounds very frustrating but the good news is they seem to be working with you to fix the situation. Good Luck and keep us posted. -
Hi. I contacted an interpreter in which I will need to get married in Italy in May. We negotiated the contract and then she took forever, over a month, to email me said contract. Now I have other questions and have emailed her a few times. She answered one question but not another one and it involves a payment. At any rate, I am reluctant to sign the contract if I am going to get this kind of service. I last emailed her on 04 January and then again on 12 January because I did not receive a response. Now its 16 January and I still haven't heard a peep. Should I seek another interpreter? I am trying to be patient because its about 3.5 months from my wedding date and I am getting anxious about getting married abroad. But on the other hand, this is a service I am paying for and I am the customer. Anyway, should I get a new interpreter and tell this one its not going to work out?
