Hi - We used Cancun Discounts Catamaran Tour and I would give them an A+. 45' Catamaran in Playa del Carmen - Private Charters We loved, loved, loved, loved it! We and our guests had a fabulous time when we did the tour the day before the wedding. It was a 4 hour swimming and snorkeling adventure on a 45-foot catamaran. The crew was hilarious, fun and entertaining. This was such a highlight for our guests, they couldn't stop talking about it...even now. Many said this was the perfect way to get to know each other before the wedding. Of the catamaran tours we researched, this was not the cheapest one we found (price is listed on the website) but we had so much fun it was worth every penny. No free t-shirts. If I remember correctly, the bride that you are referring to had the t-shirts made for the guests. If you have further questions, let me know. Jen

It was a huge hit with everyone and helped create the look we wanted.

Hi- Thank you! We booked the lounge furniture through Events & Weddings Cancun. I worked with Raffaele. He was great. [email protected] We did the flowers through the hotel. I really loved them. All of the ones that I saw coming in for other weddings were just beautiful as well. The weather was hot hot hot! We did our ceremony at 5 and it started to cool down during the cocktail hour. The beach reception was perfect. The temp was very comfortable. If you have any other questions, just let me know. Jeni

  8. I did. Just had our wedding on June 21. Sherese was very easy to work with. Here's a link to her website with a few of our pics. I can't wait to see the rest of them! Jeni & Guy | Sweet Memories Photography
  9. I'll post a review sometime soon but wanted to let you know that we are back and had a fabulous time at our wedding. Our guests were totally blown away. I can't tell you how pleased everyone was with both Playa del Carmen and the Royal. I've heard many people already talking about planning a return trip as soon as possible. I'm anxiously awaiting pics to share with all of you. Let me know if you have any questions!
  10. Thank you for your review and the info! Sounds like it was wonderful overall and I'm very happy for you. I can't wait for my turn.

How does that work? I know she's super busy so I'd hate to go and not even get a chance to talk to her or one of the other wedding coordinators. Me and FI are talking about doing Friday night through Sunday visit and just getting as much info as possible while there. Last minute deals online are pretty cheap and seems to be worth it to get a layout of the place to set our minds at ease and help with planning. Yes, we contacted Lili in advance and set up a meeting date and time. I did that for the same reason as you, I wanted to make sure I was able to meet with someone. One note, you may want to set up your taste testing date/time in advance as well. We didn't do that and ended up having to have the tasting the last night we were there. We didn't plan for that and had another restaurant we really wanted to try. Not a huge deal but something I wish I would have thought of. Jen
  12. Congrats to another Royal bride! I was just there about two weeks ago. It was awesome. You are really going to love it! Happy planning, Jen

  14. I'm from Eden Prairie, MN. I'm getting married at the Royal in June. Just returned from a site visit and it was awesome. We stopped by at the Gran and had friends staying close by at the Riu. Looking forward to connecting with you all! Jen
  15. Last week when I was at the Royal I did see two receptions going on at the same time but one was on the beach and one in the garden area. I believe they do what they can to keep them as far apart as possible. Of the 8 nights we were in Playa last week, it rained three of the days. One time was at night and the other two were random quick down pours during the day. The only significant rain was at night and the beach reception was just winding down. I was told they all jumped in the pool and had a great time. Jen
  16. I did tip the employees at the resort. Everyone works so hard and they have such small salaries. I brought a lot of small bills so I could appreciate everyone from the housekeeping staff to the pool bartender. They really do work like crazy and deserve it.
  17. Hello - We returned from the site visit yesterday and had a blast. The Royal is fantastic and I know you will all be thrilled. Lili the WC on site was awesome. She told me they are scheduled to do over 100 weddings in May and are very busy right now but that they would make sure we all receive the wedding of our dreams. We saw several weddings while we were there and they looked fabulous. It really put my mind at ease that that Royal was the right choice. I have been working with TA Jennifer and she is amazing. I highly recommend using a TA from this forum. She has eliminated a huge amount of stress from dealing with my guests to dealing with the Michigan WC's. I can't say enough how helpful it is to have a TA that specializes in destination weddings and is from this forum. Can someone post the Luxury package checklist again? I should probably get going on that. Jen

Anyone have the Lux package which includes photo and video, are you going to still use this so it isn't wasted, even if you hired outside vendors? Yep, we are heading to the Royal Saturday and again in just two months. We got lucky because FI has a trip to Puerto Morelos for work and it's in the area so we extended the trip to stay at the Royal for a couple of days. We have the lux package and are flying a photographer in. I think we are going to go ahead with the photos included so they aren't wasted but I may change my mind and just skip it instead. I guess you can't have too many pics, right? Jen
  20. Hi - I'm getting married at the Royal. I recommended the Gran for my guests with kids. Funny thing is that everyone decided not to bring their kids. Only a few couples are staying at the Gran for cost reasons and 95% at the Royal. I'm heading to Playa Saturday. I'll be staying one night at the Gran and the rest at the Royal. Make sure to check out the Royal thread as I'll be posting the details. Good luck! Jen

I'll be getting married the end of June. I'll be there from June 17-24. Perhaps I'll see you there! Awesome idea to have your engagement pics taken while you are there! Jen
  22. Dianep - Be at the airport at 5 Saturday morning! Lady Di -I'll be happy to share a weather update. I'm so excited. I know from the wedding reviews we have nothing to worry about but it will be nice to take it all in from my very own eyes. I'll be checking everything out and providing a full report back to you all upon my return. Jen
