Calling all November 2009 Brides!
Prettyhazardous replied to beachbride2009's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
WOW Jess you are working on two huge endeavors at the same time. Good Luck. I wish we could get those from loading washer and dryers. but ours work fine lol. As soon as the wedding ends we plan to get me a new car then work on updating the house. OMG all of the walls are white except in the bathroom. This is Fi's house and we've had no time to do anything so I can't wait to play decorator. I already have paint choices in mind and we have to basically demo the kitchen bc it's too small so we're opeing it up to the dining room and we are finishing the basement and making the 1/4 bath down there a 1/2 bath lol. -

Opinion needed - past cruise brides!!
Prettyhazardous replied to pineapple princess's topic in Cruise Weddings
To be honest I don't think you'd meet the requirements for St Maarten. Either that or it's really expensive to get married there. I read the info from the Carnival Wedding planning packet and St Maarten was out of the question for us. Mainly bc we were there this past September and we hated hated hated that place. OMG it was so over run with gangs it looked like we were in NY or Cali (all the spray painting I mean).... Sorry to anyone from NY or Cali or St Maarten.... -
Im still here.. How's everyone doing?

The videographer was too expensive and realistically we knew that we'd prolly only look at the video once or 2x (minus friends and fam wanting to see it). So we opted not to get it. OMG Yes the winding down of our time is started to get to me. My FI hasn't evens tarted getting his wedding attire made. I pray that e goes this week, but I've really been on his back ab it and he's done nothing. He keeps saying that it only takes the guy 3 weeks to make the garment. I'm like soon that's all we'll have... One more thing then I'm gonna go do my hair but we just got a pit bull like in May or June. Well I was looking into boarding her for the 10 days OMG it cost like $300-500. I'm like you've gotta be kidding me. I want her to be comfy and not feel like she's at the kennel but omg it's way too expensive.... We're also thinking ab a pet sitter but my family is really against that. Also she'd have to go off her reg schedule bc they'd only come by 1x a day and she eats 2x a day.... -
Yea My WC informed that it did but you can get the banana daiquiris at the Golf Course I believe.

OMG I truly love this idea. I've been researching ornament favors and they are way too expensive. But this would work great. And one of my frineds who would have been a bm but couldn't go has the most beautiful handwritng. I'm sure I could get her to do them. Now I just have to find sand dollars (can't afford a trip to the bahamas to pick them). Could I pick them from a beach at home you think?

I think I could have saved $$$ with more DIY projects but I got lazy. Like I ordered the fans for program fans and sent them to Ana for her to make up... So lazy of me. Then I just said why not keep everything printed for the wedding consistent so I had her do the menu/programs as well. I just paid this morning and now I'm thinking I'd like her to print up the directions and different questions for the reception camera scavenger hunt since I did buy the cameras. But I may be scratching that idea all together. I'm just ab done my OOT Bags. I'm adding the welcome brochures now and then I'll just have to add the goodie bags. They so far have tropical candies from OTC tropical extra gum and drink mixers. I will be adding like 2 different granola bars and something else like maybe chips or something. I'm already way over my OOT bag budget so it won't be alotta snacks. My gma said the snack bag wasn't really necessary since we are on a cruise. But I remember getting in late from the club and being too lazy to go get 24 hr pizza place so we order room service and they take forever. I remember saying a granola bar would be perfect right now lol..... -
I don't know if you want to do an island tour but if soo IMO Sunny Liston is the best. He will have you singing the funniest songs and the enitre tour is a blast. I'm usin him as transport for the wedding party the entire day and then doing a tour after the reception. He is awesome...

Can I just say that I am soo pissed that my reception site just cleared a check we sent them in July. It didnt bounce or anything but the freaking check cleared on Sept 2 and the date on it was July 15. I asked could we just pay over the phone with a check card but they only wanted a check, but they held on to it for over a month. Thats so annoying. I had totally forgot ab it to be honest. -
BDW Biggest Loser ~ Season 7
Prettyhazardous replied to LCBride2007's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
I agree with Heather. I wasn't a basher or anything and I really want to be involved in this season, but my wedding is in Nov so I wouldn't be able to host unless i miss 2 weeks or something. Also I'm down to the last few months so I know I'll be too busy to host. So anyway on a more positive note.... Someone Please Please Please host this season. Biggest Loser is always so much fun and I'm sure we'd all enjoy it this season. -
Thanks Ladies I will check out Her room nordstroms and macys.

Where do you get Spanx anyway? Does Macys Sell them? I'm going to the outlets this weekend (while my FI goes fishing) so I may be able to find something at the bali, playtex etc outlet (but not spanx).

I think I'm the total opposite of procrastinator regarding the wedding. i tend to micromanage and over organize everything. I had my 1st fitting yesterday. Surprisingly enough my gown fit better than it did when it 1st came in. However I still had a $245 alterations bill. On top of paying $70 for a strapless bra in my size (no bustier for me) and I still have to get spanx too... -

I want to play nice, but I refuse to break the bank for someone so vindictive. Anybody have any creative gift ideas that I could use? I don't want to resort to buying her stuff from Bath and Body Works or somethihng....tried it last year and it went over like a fart in church. Hey Brandy how about something personalized from Things Remembered... Or get her a purse or wallet bottle of perfume, pair of pajamas. You could get something cute for a good price at like Marshalls or TJMaxx. Good Luck....

The Tasting Ceremony is a West African Wedding Ceremony. I found a bit of info about it online and in a book I read called Sacred (ceremonies). Then we took the idea to my pastor and of course we tweaked it a bit. Below I'll paste what we found re the ceremony then I'll tell you what we are doing a little different. Tasting the Four Elements (also called Bitter herb Tasting or Tasting of Four Temperaments). This ritual dramatizes the “Traditional” promise to love “for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health.” The four elements that the Rev. Valentine uses -- lemon, vinegar, cayenne pepper, and honey -- represent the sour, the bitter, the hot, and the sweet times of marriage. He places each in a crystal bowl, which he then positions to correspond to the four directions. (Four is also the number associated with the base of the pyramid, a symbol of a strong foundation.) He then has the couple taste each, beginning with the lemon: “I let them know that marriage involves individual sacrifice, so that two people can harmonize as one. But sacrifice can cause sour feelings (the lemon) and bitterness (the vinegar) and eventually a heated explosion (represented by the cayenne). When they taste the pepper, they are cooking, their eyes are watering… and the guests are having a good time watching. But then I say that if they can weather all of this, all the difficult times, and still be friends and lovers, they will come to understand the sweetness that’s in all the previous three flavors. That is when I give them the honey.” My pastor doesn't fully again with the info on the sour so he will change that a bit. And he's adding info to the hot section and putting it bit more importance on the honey section. Also what he's doing different is that First Brian will taste the item then he actually feed it to me. Symbolizing that he will never give me something that would hurt me or that he would do himself...well my pastor says it a little better than that, but you get the idea. I have an awesome pastor who's really good with words and teaching. He had never heard of this ceremony before we brought it to his attention and he just loves it, We'll be the first couple that he performs it on but he wants to use it in all his future weddings. -

Here are our vows.. We got our ceremony out of a book my pastor had and then we tweaked them some... But I will also put my ceremony and reception order. My reception order is crazy lol... Also on the back of it will be the menu. Happy Reading LOL. Brian’s Vows I promise to give you the best of myself and to ask of you no more than you can give. I promise to accept you the way you are. I fell in love with you for the qualities, abilities, and outlook on life that you have, and won't try to reshape you in a different image. I promise to respect you as a person with your own interests, desires, and needs, and to realize that those are sometimes different, but no less important than my own. I promise to keep myself open to you, to let you see through the window of my personal world into my innermost fears and feelings, secrets and dreams. I promise to grow along with you, to be willing to face change as we both change in order to keep our relationship alive and exciting. And finally, I promise to love you in good times and in bad, with all I have to give and all I feel inside in the only way I know how ... completely and forever. Ashley’s Vows Brian, today I become your wife and you become my husband. I will strive to give you the best of myself, while accepting you the way you are. I promise to respect you as a whole person with your own interests, desires, and needs, and to realize that those are sometimes different, but no less important than my own. I promise to keep myself open to you, to let you in to my innermost fears and feelings, secrets and dreams. I promise to grow along with you, to be willing to face change as we both change, keeping our relationship alive and exciting. And finally, I promise to love you in good times and in bad, with all I have to give and all that I am, in the only way I know how -- completely and forever.
