That sounds great! We've already booked our wedding/vacation at the Riu Negril but some of the other ladies may be interested in your information.

OH I like that quote, what a great idea! Quote: Originally Posted by bumbles Originally, I didn't plan on registering because I didn't want any gifts. Sure enough, they did and there was. Bed Bath and Beyond is great. We put this message on our website: "Your presence is most important to us. If you insist, we have a registry, although gifts truly are not necessary or expected. Your smiling faces on the beach will do!" Hope this helps!

Things to do in or close to Negril

Thanks for the info so far. I had checked out that website and did some research. I wanted to hear "real" stories of people who had actually did some of the stuff! -
What to say to friends that are not invited?
~*Lisa*~ replied to McToasty's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I was actually wondering the same as I ran into that problem last week. A co-worker/friend of mine invited me to her wedding (we've known each other for about 9 years now) and I attended her wedding (6 years ago). I didn't really know what to tell her because I mentioned that the invites were sent out and obviously she didn't get one. She asked about an AHR, but we're not doing that either. I felt bad. I didn't know what to tell her. I fear that I may have the same problems with a few other friends. -
Hi all! I'm planning my wedding for January 2010 in Negril, Jamaica. I'm looking for information on excursions. Wondering what some of you did, if it was worth the money. What sucked? What was the most fun? How was the shopping and where did you go? I'm looking for any past experiences that you had, good or bad. We have a lot of first time travellers, so I want them to have great experiences.

Thanks for all the information ladies. I actually hadn't thought about the shower part (oops!) so I guess a registration is necessary!! Why is something so simple sometimes so difficult to decide? lol

We're not planning an AHR either. I say that I don't expect gifts because I don't think we should get any, but I think some family members will still want to get us something. I guess we'll register somewhere.

Hi all! I was just wondering how it works for gift etiquette. We've sent out 58 invitations and are starting to receive some RSVP's back. My question is, are people who are invited to the wedding but don't attend expected to send a gift? The FI and I were wondering about this sort of thing and I was wondering what kind of experiences some of you had with this. I personally don't expect a gift from those who are coming to our wedding in Jamaica, but possibly gifts from others who aren't coming. I'm just wondering about this because we're thinking about registries. Do we bother registering somewhere? What do you think?

"brides in a rut"...I love that! lol I don't even think we're doing OOT bags, so I don't even have that to plan! Maybe a few other small DIY, but that's about it. So what do we do with ourselves over the next few months??
-
YEAH! Another RIU Negril bride!! My wedding isn't until Jan 2010, so I can't help you out very much, but you'll be able to help me! lol I can't wait to get to the resort and be married there, it looks amazing! We have 13 confirmed guests so far and I'm freakin excited with 8 months to go!!
-
Alright, so we have our resort book, invites sent out, 8 months to go...NOW WHAT?! I'm finding myself getting so excited to leave, but there's still 8 months left! lol I know, I still have the whole "dress thing", which my aunt will start making in the next few months and getting the FI's clothes and some other random things. I don't know what else to do?? I'm soooooooo super excited, but have to wait forever for this day to get here. Anyone else having these problems?! Is there a cure for this? lol

I think that's a great idea! They do so much for us also.

I have that same hibiscus tattooed on my foot so I just had to add it in there somewhere! lol Quote: Originally Posted by niujess Very cute. I love the Hibiscus on the front. Hi ladies! Last weekend we made our wedding invitations and they got sent out this week. Yes, I know, it's early, but we thought that it would be nice for everyone to have lots of time. Anyway, my mom and I spent a few weeks deciding on a design and came up with this. I have to say, that the FI was very helpful. He helped me decide on the wording and colors. He also designed the return address label, which I'll have to get a picture of - it's really cute. For the invitation itself, I bought white 8.5 x 11" cardstock from Micheals for $9.00. All I did was make a design using Word and print it on the cardstock. Super easy. It may not be the best quality, but it works for our budget! lol The RSVP were ordered from VistaPrint. We used one of their pictures for the front, added some text to the front and back and voila, a great, CHEAP RSVP! Everyone adores the postcard idea! My aunt and cousins who helped put the invites together wanted to keep the postcard so I had to give them an extra one! lol Anyway, the cost for this was 100 postcard for $10. All in all, it didn't cost us too much. We hand delivered what we could and bought some stamps for the rest. I don't have pictures of the envelopes yet, but when I do, I'll add them to the post. It was lots of fun making the invitations and making decisions on everything. I can't wait for the next DIY project! Here are the pics: front of the RSVP back of the RSVP front of invitation inside of invitation YAY! I'm so happy how they turned out. Hope that you guys like them as much as I do! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!!

Alright, so I'm over it now! lol Just thought that I would let you know! Life is too short to complain about the little things.
