  1. Marise - those shoes are great! Too bad I can't wear heels...
  2. My aunt made dresses as a part time work when her children were small but moved on to other jobs later on. She told me yesterday that mine was her 36th dress. I'm so freakin excited!
  3. That is a good question! looking forward to hearing more opinions.

(sigh)..I wish I could do something like..sew, or knit, or ..heck, walk and chew gum. lol that's too funny! I definitely can't sew, I'm leaving that up to the pro aunt of mine!
  5. Love the pics!!! You guys look so happy!! BTW, where did you get the hubby's suit? It's exactly what I'm looking for.
  6. I bought most of the material to make my dress today! WOO HOO!!!!!! My aunt is actually making the dress starting this week. I'm soooo super excited. We'll need to purchase a few other little things later on, but the bulk of it was bought today! I'm so happy about the price! We got super deals (25% off at Fabricland and 50% off at a local fabric store in town). I'll post some pics as soon as I can but for now, here's the link to the dress that is our inspiration. 7. mummergirl - you look beautiful in your dress! good luck with the wedding seeing as it's only a week away WOO HOO!! LIW - thanks for posting the names of some stores for us Canadian gals! Here in Sudbury, we only have 2 or 3 dress shops, so it makes it more difficult to find something plus size. I would be definitely making a trip to TO if my aunt wasn't making my dress.
  8. Congrats! can't wait to see the pics when I get home from work!
  9. Thanks Chantal! I did buy some stuff from MAC, but I will definitely look into this as well. I'm tired of buying the cheap stuff that doesn't work!!! Quote: Originally Posted by Chanti Hi! I have skin that flakes easily whenever I try wearing foundation, but this has not been an issue. It was recommended by my BD make-up artist. Chantal
  10. Thank you SO much for this recommendation. I went out of town and the mall had a MAC counter and I bought the Studio Fix Foundation. IT IS GREAT!!! It covers so well! Do you use the sponge that comes with it or a brush? Quote: Originally Posted by tylersgirl I use MAC Studio Fix Foundation and I love it. For powder I use MAC Blot Pressed Powder. 12. Congrats on the weight loss! That's awesome! I actually ordered from Torrid before and loved the stuff. It's just too annoying with not being able to try on the clothes before you buy them! 13. I tried looking on Newport News about international shipping and was confused! lol They talk about getting a temporary US address? WHAT? Anyone from Canada order from them?
  14. Great stuff ladies!! Keep it coming. I am sooooooooo in love with this thread! It's nice to know that I'm not the only one out there like me. All my family and friends are slimmer than I, so I don't think that they understand what it's like sometimes. You gals are great! Thanks for all the support. For the ones that bought the bathing suits from Newport News - how are the sizes?
  15. Hi and welcome fellow Jamaican bride!!!! Have fun planning your wedding, it's soooo much fun! We only wore one outfit for our engagement pictures as it was winter time. Except for a few of the pics, you'll have to check them out to see! Have fun with the photographer! Can't wait to see the pics! Quote: Originally Posted by Preciousmi811 Thanks again! 16. This is an old aunt and we already know that she's not coming. It was sooo nice of her to send us a gift already. I'll send a thank you, but I doubt I'll explain what it was used for.
  17. So - next question... what are you ladies doing about lingerie? where are you purchasing it? are you wearing any under the dress? I think I will be WAY too hot for that, so I'm sorta looking for a cute pair of undies. Anyone find anything cute?
  18. you're not kidding it was early, like 8 months early! lol not to sound ungrateful, but it was $50. I guess I was expecting a little more but that's ok, it all helps in the end. I'll for sure send a thank you card!
  19. So we've just received a gift this week which was some cash. Now my question is, are people expecting for you to buy something with what they gave you and then tell them what you bought? Or do you think it's ok to put in savings for either the wedding itself, or something you may want to buy later? I wonder if people will get upset? Thoughts anyone?
  20. Whew! I was wondering the same thing as we've received a gift already! (way too early in my opinion) but anyway, glad to find this thread!
  21. That's a great story Sandra! I love it that you're getting your life back on track! Keep your chin up and it will all work out in the end for you!
  22. wow, everything looks great! I LOVE the plate! Where did you get it?
