He may or may not stay at Dreams but Im not being charged for a guest pass either way. I was told by Gaby that any guest of mine who is not staying at dreams doesnt have to pay for a day pass as long as they come around an hour before the ceremony so I told Cecilia that when she tried to tell me outside photographers require a pass. Like Kat said, they are a guest at your wedding and you are paying almost 50 for each extra guest for their dinner so dont pay anymore!

Thanks in advance hey michelle. im from canada but i hired my photographer from dallas, texas. i am not being charged an outside fee for him b/c when gaby was around, she said i would not have to pay as long as he only comes 1 hour before the wedding. Cecilia tried to tell me that I would have to pay but i said No way I have an email from Gaby saved saying that i dont have to

Thanks for sharing -

I was looking at your pro pics, which are awesome by the way, and was wondering where all the balloons came from at your reception? I thought DJ mannia brings those, but you didnt have a dj right? thanks again -

She is trying to make us happy and I REALLY appreciate her quick responses. I think the spa terrace it is. We will have to hope our guests can handle not seeing the ocean for a few hours! Heck, we are from LA, it is not like we aren't blessed with that great view on a regular basis. You all are wonderful! Thank you. Glad to hear that your feeling better about the reception location move! i read through a few older reviews and found one that had a spa reception: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t35127 her name is Cali and Im sure you could pm her if you have questions. she does have a few pics on there, check it out. just look at it this way- you are going to be partying in a "special" location that they dont allow to brides anymore, so it will be even more private and something different. theres no ocean but there is a nice water fountain

I feel I am being moved around due to a large wedding that is more important but I don't have that confirmed. I would be so grateful if anyone could give me pros and cons of having my reception in the spa terrace or the garden as I think these may be my only two options. I just feel the garden is so out in the open it wouldn't feel private at all and weird dancing away with so many onlookers? Or, does anyone know any other locations that I could look into that have an ocean view? By the way, we booked Dreams 17 months in advance. I am feeling a bit down...any help would be appreciated. Thanks. awww so sorry that your reception was changed!!! that sucks. I dont know if this will make you feel better at all but ive heard that the spa is an AWESOME place to have a reception! i read a wedding review on this website when i first discovered thie reviews and the bride loved having her party there. it was very private and romantic she said. Do a 'Dreams cancun' search under the Wedding reviews section and read them all so you can find this review, there are pictures. I asked to have my reception at the spa but they told me no b/c they do not allow receptions there anymore because guests were complaning that they wanted to use it whenever they wanted. maybe you will end up loving it! i hope so

I was told that my guests do NOT have to pay for a guest pass for the wedding day as long as they only arrive 30 mins before the ceremony..I would definitely fight them for this, because we are already paying a lot for extra guests for the day- its like over 80 a person for cocktail hour and reception. you can tell them you know other brides that were told they didnt need to purchase a guest pass and that you arent going to! -

Did your coordinator give you a detailed list of each items value? i just dont know how to go about asking to change things.... Congrats on getting your wedding date! Here's the thing with trading things in the packages- if you read older posts, there was definitely a lot more trades being offered by the WCs but one of the WCs who allowed a lot more changes to the package Gaby, no longer works for Dreams which sucks b/c I originally was working with her and she was great. the newer WC Cecilia has tried to charge me for things like Day passes for my guests and photographer and not letting me get credit for not wanting the mexican trio but i kept all my emails from gaby and kept fighting for things I was already promised. I recently told her she owed me more credit for not using the trio than what i got and she told me that they "arent supposed to trade things, we are making an exception for you". You definitely have to be more persistent with this newer WC, and it sounds like they are getting tougher in general with trades. If you pm me your email address I can forward you the price list that I have which may give you an idea on prices, although your trades might not have the same value. Also, if you email your WC and tell her what you Dont want, and ask what you can get, thats a good place to start.

thanks for your review! happy to hear that your wedding was perfect. Could you post pics of your bouquet and the wedding cake? and also, what kind of cake did you have and did you like it? Thanks! -

It will be perfect because that is how it was supposed to be rain or shine. Any brides get some things in exchange for others, like no videographer for chair bows etc etc. I also got the sound system for the reception costs covered instead of having the resort photographer.

Congrats and thanks so much for the review!!! I would love to see a picture of your cake! Can I ask about the balloons- did the resort have someone doing those for you on your reception? Thanks again! -

I have been dealing with coordinator Olimpia, and she tells me that my guests do not have to stay there, and that they can arrive for the wedding one hour early and only pay $5, or they can purchase a day pass. Now, I dont understand why it says this statement. I notice that other resorts require a certain amount of guests to stay at the hotel, so I am leery about this. I would like everyone to be able to stay wherever they would like. Does anyone have any good information about this? Thankyou! Your guests CAN stay at another resort, just have them come like an hour before to avoid paying a day pass fee

I called him last week and asked him for a wedding rate for January 2010 and he offered me a rate of $147 USD per person per night based on a double occupancy room. He guaranteed this rate for 3 days before the wedding and 3 days after. U just set up a code with him and then your guests can book through the reservations department.

Also.... would you include place cards with such a small group? Thanks! i think we are going to have 15-20 guests and we are doing one long rectangular table on the club terrace and sit with our guests. i like this set up the best because everyone is sitting together as one group. i have some pictures of that set up as well as the smaller tables- send me your email address and ill send those pics to u i think place cards are apprpriate
