I was a little worried about this initially, but I just decided to get over it. I even thought about taking needles and stuff down (I'm a nurse) but then realized they probably wouldn't let me use my own. I am just going to make sure that everything is taken out of packages in front of us and is sterile. I'm probably being really paranoid...
  2. We paid $1398 for 7 nights, that is flights, rooms, and transfers and that includes taxes which I thought was a good rate. It also really depends on time of year, and where your flying from. Ours is departing from Calgary.
  3. Call them directly rather than just responding to the email and ask why they need this info now. This was requested of me by our resort. I had to send a copy of my credit card front and back along with drivers license copy to my resort for my wedding deposit. I thought that it was an odd request and I called Visa before I did it to see if this was a valid request and they told me yes. They said that some palces are requesting more info now when they don't have the card to swipe. They said should anything appear on my statement that I did not authorize to call immediatley though.
  4. I am wearing mine at my AHR. I think why not, you will never get to wear it again and I think I am lucky to be able to wear it twice. And I have some people like my grandma who can't come to Mexico but she would love to see my in my dress.

The GMs will be wearing the exact same pants, but the shirt will be black linen, not white. Linen Pants: $39.95 Linen Shirt: $24.95 (ON SALE!) Getting FI to try something on before he bought it: Priceless! Thanks for posting a pic...I am going to Calgary this weekend and was planning on getting the exact same outfit from Old Navy but was going to wait to see what it looked like as I only saw on the website, after seeing your pic I will definitely be getting this for my fiance and his groomsmen. And you can't go wrong with the price.

Also, if anyone is planning a spa day for the girls or something along those lines, I just received the spa menu of services. Let me know if that would be helpful for anyone. Their prices are really reasonable. If you don't mind emailing me the spa stuff, i would appreciate it. I was going to ask Candy but she is away so I was waiting to call her again Wed. [email protected] thanks sarah
  7. One thing that she should really be aware of though...since you are flying from Wales, probably a long flight is to get up and walk around several times during the flight because of the risk of blood clots and of course drink lots of water when she is out in the heat, and take breaks from being in the heat and go inside. This is a hospital I found when I googled it, it was started by a US emerg doc. Hospital AmeriMed-Cancun Avenida Tulum 260 Plaza las Americas Col. Centro Tel. (99 881-3400 Amerimed Hospitals | TravelTips / Pregnancy tell her check out this link to the hospital, sounds like they have adequate specialties, OB, pediatician, neonatologist on call 24/7. That's more specialties than you would get if you live in a small town and are delivering your baby. I really wouldn't be too worried.
  8. If she has insurance and her doctor has okayed it then I don't really see the problem. If she has no problems in her pregnancy then not really a big deal. Midwives and Drs always have opposing views...I don't think they ever really see eye to eye.

My email is [email protected]. If anyone needs pictures of the other restaurants, i.e. the French one, the Mexican one, the Steakhouse, I have some. Not sure how to post them, but let me know your email and I can send them. Do you mind emailing them to me?? My email is [email protected] Thanks so much!! Sarah
  10. The Nubra is not like the old stick on ones. I used the old stick on ones for grad many years ago too, these are quit different. Just not sure how well these hold. I haven't tried them but saw them and am considering...just waiting to pick up my dress today and see how it fits.
  11. I'm going in 3 days...need some help too.

Also, do you think they'll let us have the cocktail party on the beach rather than in the lounge? Thanks! No I don't have any pics...my wedding isn't until April as well. Sorry I think pribrzl did a site visit...you could try asking her for pics...I did but have not gotten a response yet.
  13. I have the original email with prices that I had planned on bringing with me but that is the only email I have ever gotten from her...except of course the contract and how I can send them money.
  14. It's hard when you are all equally close. Don't feel pressured to pick one...I am a bridesmaid for a friends wedding in October and she is having 4 bridesmaids and no MOH, to hard to pick ONE above the rest. Just tell them that you feel the are all equal to you and you aren't having one.

I got a few images from her on the flowers and am looking for something similar to what she sent - I am wondering how many changes or decisions we are expected to make on site, upon arrrival. I heard from other resorts that you should be there at least 3 days before the wedding and considering the lack of communication, I am thinking the sooner we get there the better. A friend of mine that got married there said that they brought a bunch of stuff themselves such as place cards, a few arrangements, etc. I also know that there is a Wallmart around there that you can get last minute things (i.e. votive candles, etc). I'm just really trying to think of anything/any detail and make sure it's addressed in advance.... Let me know P. No haven't done any of the detail stuff yet. Another bride emailed me the bouquet selection so I was looking at those. None were quit what I wanted so trying to find a pic of what I want to send to Candy. Candy told me that a month before the wedding she would start sending me the stuff that we decide from before. Not too worried about it, from the reviews from the other brides I quoted on her they made most decisions in the last 2 weeks or the day after arrival. We are having the civil ceremony so we are arriving on Saturday and out wedding is the Thursday, we'll have lots of thime to meet with her and maybe see a couple other weddings to get some ideas. Would you mind sending me the pics you have from your site visit, would love to see them. My email is [email protected] Thanks
  16. Oh I'm so happy for you...it's a relief when you finally pick the place and book, I remember that feeling. Well happy planning with the rest. I will definitely post on here how everything goes with our wedding and any advice I could give after...we are less than three months away, I'm getting so excited. I just got a message from another bride from tripadvisor who said she would let me know how things went with her wedding: " I just got married there last week and it was amazing. Everything was perfect. The only thing i could tell you that i didnt like was that we weren`t told and were planning on, doing our own vows so we got put on the spot there. So have something preparred. Our wedding was at 1 pm( the only time we can get the judge and just found out a couple of days before leaving that it would not be at 4 as originally planned. The flowers were amazing, candy will send you bouquet options. I had a couple of flowers changed for a different color. Everything is done in the last 2 weeks before the wedding. Candy will also send you a menu option after you choose what restaurant you want. We had the french restaurant. We didnt have a DJ, There is always entertainment in the sports bar in the evening and a beach party at night. I had originally reserved a photographer in mexico, (claudia rodriguez) but after reviwing the prices, flew out a photographer from winnipeg canada instead. Ive also seen the resort photography pics and they are nice. There was also a resort videographer there." It's reassuring to know that things turn out well for weddings...just have to be patient through the lack of communication.
  17. Where did they play there music in the restaurant or is there some place they went after and played it? We really haven't made alot of plans for after dinner...so just wondering what some others have done?
  18. For booking you have to put down a deposit of 50% of the wedding package you choose, there is a contract you sign and submit all your info...names, birthdates, etc. For booking your date I recomend calling directly, Candy will tell you immediately if it is available (I believe they only do one wedding a day) then you don't have to wait wondering if they got your email or when they might get back to you.
  19. I'm using Vanessa Vargas...totally depends on your budget. I wanted nice photos but didn't want to spend a fortune. I really like her work and have read good reviews about her on this forum and she fit my budget. Her website is Vanessa Vargas Photography the prices are last years on her website, she will email you her 2009 packages though. She responds really quick to questions, usually the same day.
  20. I have been using tripadvisor.com as well and that is where I got reviews from a couple people.
  21. Hi JoJo...here is another review I had from someone on the other forum, she was married in November: "Just married last Saturday at the BBGE. It was spectacular. We only planned with Candy - the sweetest wedding planner on earth - for 2 hours upon arrival day. After that we enjoyed our stay and she would find us on the property with simple questions. We had 50 guests and chose the Affair to Remember package. The ceremony was on the beach and lasts around 20 minutes. Then the carts drove people to the lounge where we had a one hour cocktail party - the appetizers where wonderful. I was able to try them by stealing them off of people's plates as we were taking pictures. The on-site photographer is ok, but it would be better if you can get a good deal by bringing a photographer along wiht you. It takes too much time picking pictures before you leave. The reception was held at the Italian restaurant. A section of the restaurant was reserved for us and it was wonderful. Good food. The cake was pretty and tasted good. We chose a variation of their cake options. After that we added a beach party to the festivities. We hired a DJ but forgot to solidify plans for a dance floor - MUCH NEEDED. It was so much fun."
  22. I guess I am trying not to worry to much..I just hope it all turns out. The inconsitency is a little worrisome. I guess I just assumed the poor communication was normal for Mexico but maybe not, maybe other resorts are alot more on top of things. Here is a review I got from someone on another site that was just married there in January. It made me feel like everything will turn out: "The Minister was totally easy to understand, no noted accent at all. We had the $2500 package I think it was "an affair to remember". I think it was well worth the money. We had the rose petal turn down every night, the dinner on the beach was nice etc. more than enough food in your room and alcohol etc. The biggest thing is..the Be+ service. This means you get Roger, your personal concierge. you can book your restaurants a week in advance (most people can only book the day ahead) and with 50 people, you will need it. we had 26 and it was hard. You also get access to the private beach area to the left of the steakhouse. which has private bar etc. This is where we all headed after dinner. theres a bartender, and a dance floor (it's a little weathered but you can rent a new one for $100) and it worked out great. we had our own Bose system and ipod to play music and it was more than enough. Overall, It went well, We've been to Mexico 6 times before so we knew what to expect, but we had never done all inclusive in mexico, only Dominican. All in all, the food, for an all inclusive was good. different variety, and it all didnt taste the exact same like most buffets. I had a hard time getting emails responded to before I got there, but quickly realized when I got there, that it's not that Candy (wedding planner) didnt care, it was just that she was absolutely swamped (4-7 weddings a week) and they just do work at a slower pace and I tend to forget. Before you get there, send the Concierge an email - [email protected] and requesting buildings 1, 2, 3 or 5. they are closer to the beach. the buildings 6,7,8 are quite a walk to the beach. They are close to the main lobby though. The staff in general are very good. the odd one is a little ignorant, but you find that anywhere. a little bit of tipping goes a long way though. The front desk/reception is pretty good. The one major thing is you HAVE to ask, and be very certain about what you want with them, or they will give you the minimum that they have. I told them where my family would be staying and that they would not be put in the back buildings etc. or they will just stick The Spa, were rude and ignorant at the front desk, and need an ass kicking sometimes. but the actual workers IN the spa, are wonderful. The ceremony was nice, it was a little long (30 mins or so). There was a few things the communication on wasnt clear and we didnt get what we wanted, but that was our fault for not really clarifying. We had the dinner at the steakhouse, which was really good. they gave us an option of picking ONE type of meal for everyone, or two or three types, but we had to know exactly what everyone wanted a few days before. We chose to pick one meal just for our own sanity. The cake was ok. the inside was banana, tasted good, with white fondant. they didnt understand my concept of flowers "cascading down the tiers" but it was ok. It's only a cake."
  23. The number is 011 52 984 877 4500 ext 4527. And the email is [email protected] I NEVER got email repsonses though. Before we had the wedding booked I had sent emails and no response for 5 weeks, finally started calling then got everything booked and I only call now I don't bother emailing.
  24. We are getting married there and the info I have gotten so far is that the Seaside Sweethearts $1700 package includes 25 adults...not sure aout the others as this is the one we are going with. The cost is $10 pp over that. Not sure about price list for some of the stuff. The white chair covers are included, I asked about bows...we are just bringing our own and they will put them on. The $2500 package includes a cocktail hour with a few appetizers. And yes you can have an outside photographer just have to pay the day pass fee which is $80. Hope this helps a bit. The are terrible about responding to email so I just call whenever I have a question and have had no problems. I call sometimes once a week if I have something I am wondering about. Check out their pakages on the website, gives the details of whats included.
  25. You should be able to order the dress with a hollow to hem measurement. So the make it for how tall you are. Usually costs more but it would save possibly expensive alterations. You have to have the shoes you are going to wear so they can do the measurement. If you are going barefoot for the ceremony then it would be a little longer but no big deal probably.
