I'm nervous, but I'm hoping that doing a BD photoshoot makes me a bit more confident! I actually think if there is a group of girls doing the shoot together will make me a bit more comfortable. Us girls got to support each other, right!?! I agree with you tcram - what do I wear!?! And Billysbride - I LOVE TWILIGHT!

The only thing is we had to put more of a deposit down because it wasn't a charter flight so you actually have to pay for all of your flight upfont and then a deposit for the resort. Just thought I'd mention it because I noticed you're from Chicago and that's where we fly out of. Thanks! I'll check Funjet. Also - USA3000 if you wait for their public rates for Nov. if you book air and hotl separately I got it cheaper because I got the flights this past November for $300 per person. Just a possiblity. I think booked the hotel (w/ free transfers) through apple and got a great deal!

Hey girls! I'm so excited for a Nov 2009 thread! I'm a November bride - 11/28/2009 at the Barcelo Maya Palace. I'm not very far in the decision making process so I will need help! Here is what I got: - Picked resort (but waiting to book because of flights not avaliable yet - we are most likely going to use USA 3000....they should be released next week. They have GREAT deals for anyone that has them at their airport!) - Dress....wearing my mom's! She got married in Hawaii so its a perfect beach dress! - Colors - Black, white and pink! The black and white theme will most likely be damask - Not doing STD - Just an Early invite - Damask Passport invites...DIY....almost done! I still have TONS to do!!! Ahhh!! Now I'm freaking out
-
Jojo - I don't have the 2009 packages yet - but I'm waiting for them! If you get them let me know When in November? We are the 28th! I don't know about a garden ceremony - I haven't been there, but from what I hear you can find a location and they will pretty much cater to you! Plus there is a chapel at Colonial and there is a smaller beach chapel at Caribe. Those are other options. If not there is the gazebo at the Palace. Go to the unoffical Barcelo Maya website: http://www.unoffical-barcelo-maya.com they have everything you need!

Thanks for the info! I have the Maya Palace booked right now, but do you think its a huge savings to stay at the Colonial instead? We only will be there for 5 days and I think most of our guests would stay at the Colonial or Tropical. In your honest opinion....do you think the Maya Palace is truly worth it? I think it looks perfect for a wedding, but I haven't been there.... Let me know! THANKS!!!

At home reception?????
To be JillianMickiewicz replied to pdcbride09's topic in At Home Reception (AHR)
Quick question....is it okay to have a laid back party at a bar with drinks and apps (we are thinking chips and salsa, tacos, etc with Margaritas since we are getting married in Mexico) with all your friends and family? Or is that not nice enough for a AHR? I didn't plan on wearing my dress....what do you all think?? -
Barcelo Maya

Hi everyone! I'm trying to get my date secured at Barcelo. I hate waiting! Quick question - does anyone know which Barcelo complex the outdoor chapel is? The one thats on the beach in the hut with the walkway? -
I don't know about everyone else, but I am using my mom's dress. Its free, but then I'm updating it a bit to fit my taste, but it is costing me a TON less. Not just in the money department, but also the stress level of looking for the perfect dress! Plus its so amazing to wear her dress on my wedding day! Its perfect for a destination wedding...she got married in Maui! I love to find other frugal girls! Great ideas!

Welcome and congrats! It's always nice to see another Chicago bride on the forum!

Hi! I'm looking into going to either Moon Palace or Grand Occidental Xcaret (or a different place!) for my wedding next November (thanksgiving weekeend). I've been researching myself and with a TA at home, but she isn't very helpful. I have a small group and would probably not get a group rate at the hotel, but hoping to find some discounts in airfare or somewhere! If there is a specific TA on here I should PM please let me know. I NEED HELP! -
I live in the south suburbs of Chicago....I'd love to get together and talk wedding stuff because I know you girls will understand the differences between at home weddings and destination weddings! Let me know...
