  1. If technology can help save money on STD/Invitations/RSVP for the wedding, most guests will understand and not get offended by that. The money saved can be put towards food/drinks and that's definitely a better use of the budget. I just did my STD using electronic greeting cards and it was quick/easy/free. Invitations and web site are next on the to-do list and there will be a RSVP feature on the web site. Cheers!
  2. We rented a FIAT through Hertz for one day and the total was 800 pesos including all the insurance/fees/tax etc. Make sure "Theft Insurance" is included because we got conflicting information from several staff at Hertz. In the end, we accidentally initialed the clause saying we denied "Theft Insurance" which wasn't intended. Luckily nothing happened to the rental and we parked on the streets outside the hotel in Playa Del Carmen.
  3. I will recommend checking out Yazmin too. Good luck! Yazmin De La Mora - Weddings & Catering

  5. The white layer in the Bomb is white chocolate mousse. It is pretty good too. There are other cakes on the menu like Tiramisu, cheesecake, chocolate flavor Tres Leches and cappuccino flavor Tres Leches. We only tried 3 different cakes but I am sure the others are delicious as well.
  6. Hi ladies, Finally I got around to uploading the pictures. Enjoy! Picasa Web Albums - Winnie - La Casa del Agua I didn't take pictures of the restaurant but its web site should give you a pretty good idea. 7. Awesome job on the mixed media work! We were there a few days before your visit to check out Al Cielo. Do you mind if I post the link on my wedding web site?
  8. Contact information for Pasteleteria: email - [email protected] Tel - 984 803 52 02 It is located right at Av. Constituyentes and 25 Av. Nte. The price quote I got was reasonable. The cake will be made at another store location in Cancun and the delivery charge is about 500 pesos to Playa Del Carmen. Check it out and let me know what you think. Cheers!
  9. Hi ladies, I have uploaded the pictures on Picasa. Enjoy! Picasa Web Albums - Winnie - Lunch at Past...
  10. Glad I found this thread. I was trying to decide between the free web sites from The Knot or mywedding.com.
  11. That will depend on the time for the reception. Probably at least 10 per person depending on the type of appetizers being served. If they are filling/heavy, you won't need as much.
  12. Is the price quote per slice or per serving? A friend of mine told me it is important to inquire about serving size since some baker treats a slice (e.g. 1 inch wide on the circumference of a round cake) as 3 servings. I am with you all ladies about the pricing for wedding cakes. It can be totally outrageous.
  13. Here's the information for two florists I found in Playa Del Carmen that is within walking distance from the 5th Avenue: 1. Floreria Sac-Nah Tel - 984 873 0259 Cel - 044 984 804 4508 [email protected] 2. La Floreria LA FLORE Tel - 984 803 4832 Cel - 984 807 7380 [email protected] The people I have talked to at the florists don't speak much English. However, if you show them pictures of what you are looking for, they should be able to help you out. These two are not high end vendors and the prices should be much more reasonable. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!!! Keep up the great job on working towards a more FABULOUS YOU!!!
  14. That's a very pretty bouquet! Please share pictures after your wedding! Bet you are excited! Congratulations!!!
  15. The first set will be my pick. You can also use the cake topper as a decoration next to the cake too.

  18. Update from Donaji on Al Cielo expansion: A construction of 4 to 5 more rooms on the jungle side was planned but unfortunately, due to the weak economical world situation, those plans have been stopped. In case this project restarts, it wouldn't affect in any way the actual rooms, nor beach front, nor restaurant as the construction was planned back, at the jungle side (right hand from the access road).
  19. Yes, it is different than the others mentioned in this thread. We didn't have time to look for Turtle Bay Cafe and I couldn't locate the other bakery in Playa Del Carmen.
  20. Casey, I was just thinking about the same thing the other day. Does anyone know where I can find them in Playa del Carmen? I don't think I can take them with me into Mexico.
  21. I have been to Mockingbird Bridal twice but didn't end up buying a dress from them. Other bridal salons have quoted anything from $99 to $500 (flat fee) for alterations. The owner of the salon that sold me the sample dress gave me the name of a tailor that she highly recommended and he is in Fort Worth. There will be major changes to the dress since it is way too big/long for me. I am also considering changing the neckline to sweetheart and that may cost quite a bit too. There is a dry-cleaning place in Denton that does great job and charge a very reasonable fee. I took the jacket that came with the dress and they did such a good job removing the stain. I can forward the information if you are interested.
