  1. Is everyone serving appetizers during the cocktail hour? My resort seems to think that it's not a standard thing to do and is asking me what kind of food I would like to serve! I have no idea- I thought it was a pretty common thing! Is anyone having a cocktail hour with JUST cocktails If not, what kind of appetizers (and how many) are you serving? Thanks!
  2. The same thing happened to us today! We are having our site visit this weekend and were finalizing the tasting and was told that it only included 1 meal (appetizer, entree, dessert). We wanted to try at least 4 different options to see what we liked. We are trying to narrow it down to 2 dishes- 1 meat and 1 fish. It didn't seem unreasonable to try 2 of each but they want to charge us $40 for each additional meal. Aren't tastings supposed to be small bites of the meals so you get an idea if you like it or not This is now going to cost us $120 and I hadn't even thought about tipping!!!
  3. Trying to decide between Moon Palace and Dreams- does anyone have a preference? I know a lot of people here are getting married at Dreams, but has anyone been to Moon Palace? Thanks!!!
  4. Yes!!! Try Paper Source: Envelopes, Wedding, Invitations, Stationery, Ideas. They have some that may work in a bunch of different colors. I'm attaching a link to the A9 section which has some options. If for some reason it doesn't work, go to the solid paper & envelope section, then to A9. Good luck and let me know if you end up getting something from them. I design invitations and use them all the time (I was actually there this afternoon)! A9 - Paper Source
  5. Paper Source is a great store for paper. Not sure if they have a store out there, but you can go online at Paper Source: Envelopes, Wedding, Invitations, Stationery, Ideas. Good luck!
  6. Absolutely stunning! I am going to have to copy that Corona shot- LOVE it! All of them are beautiful- congrats!!!
  7. Wow! Everything looks amazing! I love your first aid kits! Did you do the labels yourself? If so, do you have a template you'd be willing to share? Also, this may be a dumb question, but I also want to do labels for water bottles. Did the ones you buy already have a label on that you covered? Or were they empty- or did you have to remove the existing ones? Thanks!!!
  8. My problem is that I am addicted to buying things for my OOT bags! I need to start concentrating on the actual wedding details- but the OOT bags are much more fun!
  9. What a great thread! I never considered fire dancers before- now I need to see if they have them in Acapulco! Thanks for all the helpful tips and great suggestions!!!

  11. After searching at 4 different Targets, I finally found them! I bought everything they had in case people here still needed them- I have 55 of the Daily Spanish versions that I will sell if anyone still needs them! Let me know if you're interested. They aren't the Spanish Phrases one, but they're still good!
  12. What a great post!!! I have the same problem. I am going to Mexico in a couple of weeks to finalize some wedding plans and I am going to have to try some of these suggestions out! I'll let you all know what happens!
  13. Wow! I have been all over the internet trying to find these again. I can't wait till tomorrow to hit all the Targets nearby and get some! Thanks for the tip!!!
  14. Thank you so much Michael! This was the best Christmas gift we could have asked for! You don't know how much this means to us- we are looking forward to meeting you and Grit in Acapulco! Happy Holidays!!!
  15. I am in love with your photographers! I actually found them online a few months ago and contacted them for my wedding. They ended up being out of my price range, but they are amazing! Congratulations!

    Wow!

I also "blog-stalk" them! I found them a few months ago when I was looking for photographers who have shot in Acapulco. They've done 2 weddings there that were amazing! I contacted them for mine, but they are too expensive. I showed their site to my mom who also loved them and she was actually considering spending the extra money to get them. The do amazing work!

    Hi

Welcome and congrats! I am also getting married on a Sunday in April. Ours is the 26th in Acapulco (FI has a lot of family from there). I'm also Jewish (he's not) so we are trying to find a rabbi who 1.) speaks english (I was told there aren't many rabbis in Acapulco and the ones that are there only speak spanish), and 2.) will marry us even though he's not jewish! Let me know if I can help with anything- I started planning a little late, but have some things worked out already! Good luck!
  18. I love looking at all the rings! Here's mine- hopefully this works. I just figured out how to upload pics!
  19. Wow- what a great thread! I just spent the last 2 hours reading each one from the beginning (and took notes)! This is such great info- thanks!!!
  20. Real love is... - Wanting to wake up to the same person every morning. - Realizing how lucky you are to be spending your life with your best friend. - Sacrifice (this is my FI's contribution) - Getting that euphoric feeling just thinking about your partner. - Truly thinking you are the luckiest person in the world! This is such a great contest- thanks for doing this! Our wedding is April 26, 2009 at the Grand Mayan Resort in Acapulco, Mexico!
  21. Michael- thanks for this contest! I can't tell if you are booked on my date or not- are you available April 26, 2009 still
  22. I'm also new to this, but this sounds perfect! My wedding is April 26, so this is perfect timing! I already have a paypal account, so will try to figure out how to send my payment. Thanks for organizing this- I am so excited!
  23. Thanks for the responses! I agree- $35,000 is way too much- and I would much rather spend that money elsewhere (not that I have that much money to spend)! We are getting married in Acapulco and then thinking of going to Tulum for the honeymoon- either Moon Palace or Dreams. We were going to stay for 10 days, but were afraid that maybe that was too long at one place, so we are considering going to Zihuatenejo for 4 nights between the 2. What do you guys think? Is 10 days too long at an all-inclusive resort? If not- any preferences between the 2? Thanks again!
  24. I am just starting to look into booking our honeymoon and have absolutely no concept of what's reasonable- and what's not! I have a friend who claims to have spent close to $35,000 on hers in Hawaii (flying first class and staying at the Four Seasons). There is no way I am about to spend even close to that amount- plus we are looking at Mexico, which should be cheaper than Hawaii anyway. Just wanted to start a thread to see what people are realistically looking to spend. This is probably a topic most of my friends wouldn't want to publicly discuss- so thanks to anyone who wishes to post theirs!!!
  25. Just wanted to check in with any recent brides to see if you had any extra Spanish for Dummy books. Any quantity is MUCH appreciated! Thanks!!!
