For brides who have already been married at the Barcelo. I am planning a wedding for May 2010 and I'm trying to get as many ideas together as I can. Do the wedding coordinators send you pictures of your options for the cake, flowers, decorations, etc or are we supposed to just send them pictures of what we want? How limited are they with the choices? Thanks for your help!

Thanks MObride09! That does help, I'm just getting impatient! So for the brides who have already booked with the Barcelo I have a question. In order to start planning the specific details of the wedding (eg cake, chair bow colors, decorations, etc) do you have to have your wedding date confirmed? Or can you start the planning with the WC before you've sent your confirmation of flight/hotel? When they send out the 2010 package prices do they give you pictures of your options for decorations/locations etc? How does it work? Thanks for your help!!

Oh perfect, so if we want to book our flights/accomadation online we can do that? It's so much cheaper it's unreal. Also, for any body who has quite a bit of their wedding planning done, do you know the colors available for linens, for the tables, chairs, etc? I'm trying to get my colors all planned out and I'm curious what's available? Does anyone know where you can get chair bows for cheap if they don't offer many colors?

I emailed Claudia awhile ago and she said that they are making an exception and will give us until the 2010 wedding packages come out, but she also said something about how it's usually five months from when you reserve the date. So does that mean that the itinerary is due when they come out with 2010 packages or will it be due 5 months AFTER the 2010 packages come out? I have sent her an email but it's been almost two weeks and there's no word from her, any help would be much appreciated!!!

JLC, my fi and I haven't paid our nights stay yet to confirm the wedding date. We also got quite high rates from our TA, something like $1800 with taxes. I know that most of our family/friends will not be able to afford that, we can hardly afford that! So we're not totally sure what we're going to do right now. The WC at Barcelo told us that we couldn't CONFIRM the date until our trip is paid. Does anyone know when the 2010 packages will be out? And do we have six months AFTER they are released to confirm or does it have to be confirmed as soon as the 2010 packages are released? Thanks!

I have also been looking into hiring claudia for my Barcelo Maya May 2010 wedding but she sent me a list of her prices and it seems a little pricey. I met with a WC out of Vancouver and she told me that these prices are inaccurate. She told me that she works with Claudia a lot and her last bride only paid $1300 for a full day of photos. Is this right? Does anyone know an ACTUAL rate because I keep getting different answers? THANKS!

Smartinez, alright that is good news! I'm glad the ipod worked out because that will save some money for sure. It's really too bad that those quotes are so expensive, that is a bummer. My fiance and I met with a wedding coordinator/travel agent and she seems really helpful. She said that she would deal with the WCs from the resort, she knows a lot of people down there and has tons of connecttions, she would handle all the guests questions and concerns. But she costs $1500. I was wondering if anyone has experienced working with an outside coordinator to handle all the small details or if I could just do it myself? While I'm in the planning process I don't want it to take three weeks to get replies from the Barcelo WC's, so I'm wondering if it's worth it to pay the extra $1500 for a WC from Vancouver? Anyone's thoughts?

I've been waiting for my rates from a couple different TA's. At first they were super helpful but it's like they just dropped off the face of the earth all of a sudden! I tried getting ahold of Natalie from this website but she hasn't replied to me in a week either, it's getting VERY frustrating. Hey pepsi_babi69, wow that is great! thanks for posting those. Are those prices per person or for two people (the double i mean) because per person 2000 seems pretty steep!! thanks for your input

Smartinez, perfect thank you so much for the information! Also I was wondering if anyone booked the DJ for the few hours, if so, was it worth it? Has anyone just hooked up an ipod to their sound system? My fiance and I are wondering what to do about the music because with an ipod you have less options for music but the dj is quite expensive. Is the sound system that you can hook up your ipod to good quality? Or should we just pay the extra to get the dj?

I was wondering if anyone knew if in order to have your dinner in an open air grill you need to book the package that allows you to have your dinner on the beach, or if you can get married in the grill instead of a banquet hall?? I was also on here and found a couple pictures of someone who was married there and had their dinner by the pool, where was that? I think it was PhillyBride who had her reception there. Do you have to pay extra to have your dinner by the pool?
