  12. Sorry Danielle, I'm with you I planned everything for del mar. Gazebo/tropical- don't know anything about lindo. as for reyna, don't expect response- esp since moving everything- she will be focusing on upcoming weddings with in near future- which she should- since they f..... up all our plans
  13. glad it's coming around for you danielle, the flights working out is huge. you deserve a break. Can't wait to hear about it all when you get back. Can't believe you future MIL after all you have been through. As far as employers, some have gotten a e mail as well. Legally I bet they can't make them take a week off. That is where I am losing people because they can't afford to do it.

Your wedding day is an important and magical day and week and you shouldn't be stressing about such things. I wouldn't move wedding locations though because you fear some guests may cancel due to this flu. Last I heard, there were still no reported cases of the Swine flu in Quintana Roo. If it were me getting married in June, I would sit tight. I was married at Iberostar Beach on April 15th and same as you, married at the gazebo and had a private reception at the Tropical. It was a fabulous. Beautiful, fun, and the resort did an awesome job. If guests cannot make the trip to Mexico and cancel, you have picked a wonderful photographer who will be capturing your day on film. Maybe if many guests cancel, hire a videographer too so you can share this with guests that could not make it. Your wedding day is about you though so I would make your decisions based on your needs and wants. Maybe talk to a few of your close guests (your MOH, BM, and family) and see how their feeling. They'll probably be very supportative and do whatever you decide. I think you should start distracting yourself a bit from all this swine flu media frenzy. You'll drive yourself crazy soon Maybe work on some last minute details of the wedding (newsletter, gifts, decorations, etc). Even just for a few days so you can get your mind off everything. I have a feeling you are going to have a wonderful wedding day wherever you decide. The moment you and FI are in front of the judge and you look into each others eyes and realize in a few moments you are united and will forever be together, is priceless. At that moment, it could have been -30 degrees and been in the middle of a cow pasture and I still would have been happy:) Hope all goes well. Gen Thanks so much fir the support
  15. has anyone been experiencing this? my guests were told by employers if they go they can't return to work for week after returning
  16. MY second and his first also! I could answer everything, but I don't know if things same at tucan. Do you have Gabriella's e mail. Since your short onn time maybe call her. For us at del mar, we have option after ceremony to have a cocktail hr (diff locals avail- depending on where and if having reception after). Many possibilites. For me, ceremony at gazebo then coctail ouside tropical (on the terrace) cause having private recepion at tropical with DJ. There you can rent tropical for 800.00 if you want private dining and reception. You can also choose one of a la cartes for dinner.... Again, I don't know options for tucan- even at our resort options diff if you are del mar vs lindo.... Your best bet is to ask gabriella. As far as vendors we can help with that. I hired DJ Mannia after researching, he had great reviews. Photo's- many great people to choose from- I got sol photography- their assoc vincent is taking mine. As far as should you have party after, totally a perference. We wanted one - so doing private. Some have dinner and then drinks at lobby bar. No one choice is better than other, just what you want. Hope that helps- let me know if I can answer anything else. Sorry don't know anything about tucan
  17. I just did itinarary on oversized post card also. I would post pic but can't figure out why they are big. I am coping from photobucket

I know I'm so close and it's time to get it done. Please help! My email addy is [email protected]. Hi and welcome. Can you tell us what you need help with, specific questions so we can answer. Don't know much about tucan. the wc there was at del maar and she was great to correspond with via e mail her name is gabriella.
  19. Thanks everyone. We are going to wait. I am just so burned out with everyone. I try and explain but they don't seem to get it. I think they were coming around THEN some of my guets EMPLOERS TOLD THEM IF THEY GO THEY can't come back for a week after they get back and have too be cleared by dr. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT
  20. I have been thinking of plan B also TA states unless there is a ban placed for travel to mexico apple will charge change fee. Also, we have guests from other areas going on scheduled air and will lose money. Sol will not refund money unless again ban forces canceling. So, I will have to wait until last minute but would like to have plan set up at diff resort. My TA suggests if that happens maybe look at iberostar in jamaica or punta cana, feels it will be easier if we stay with same chain. But all our planning goes to hell!! this sucks
  21. i have been reading it and watching cnn and cdc guidelines. But, it's to early to know what will hapeen in next month. So do I move now so wedding not cancelled altogether of take chance on that not happening?? I am a nurse and understand the scientific end of it, but lets face it- our guests will listen to media!!!
  22. usa3000 is apple vacations charter and they are cancelling flights also- they will only fly if full. So as people cancel they cancel charter- so guests will have to find scheduled air. RIGHT 39 guests... impossible to stay on same time schedule and cost of last minute air is high. DOES IT EVER END I had some hope this morning and was staying positive and wrote all guests this e mail, but now? Dear friends & family, Hello! First off, we are very excited about our upcoming wedding! However, we do want to address the "elephant in the room" - the "Swine Flu" which has unfortunately hit Mexico City. We want you all to know that we are on alert and are watching the situation closely. As you know, the U.S. media has a tendency to sensationalize these things. So after many hours of frantic research, phone calls, and some serious soul searching... We have decided that we do not want to move the location of the wedding unless it is absolutely necessary. We still have a little more than 5 weeks, and we are praying that all of this swine flu stuff passes over. What we want for our wedding is to relax with you all in Sunny Mexico. If the situation does not get better, we may have to consider a different location. This is not the outcome that we want, but we are aware that the decision may not be up to us. The situation in Mexico seems to change each hour. As of right now there is NOT a travel ban to Mexico. A fellow "Destination Wedding bride" personally contacted the CDC and this is what she had to say: "Greetings All! I wanted to let all of you know that I just got off the phone with the CDC. I wanted them to clarify "non-essential travel" as it pertains to our situation. As of now they would NOT recommending that we cancel wedding plans as we have invested a lot of time and money in planning (therefore it is essential to us). I do understand that many of you have families that are your number one priority. Please know that we are monitoring this very closely. I will call the CDC back in a few days and will give you an update" Please understand that this is just another strain of the flu. Every year 300,000-500,000 people world wide die annually from the "regular flu". Mexico City is not very clean (for the most part) and is the 2nd largest city in the world with 22 MILLION people! It is of course sad that some fatalities have occurred, however 150 out of 22,000,000 is not to be unexpected from a flu outbreak like this (in other words, it is not out of the norm). Here is a good article from CNN: Regular flu has killed thousands since January - CNN.com Every single person outside of Mexico has survived this flu and in fact has only reported MILD strains. They are not sure why it hit Mexico City so hard, but that is currently under investigation. Cancun is about a 30 hour driving trip to Mexico City. I checked with the resort on yesterday and business is running as normal. It is reported that even in Mexico City, the flu is beginning to level out. Our contact in Mexico City states that they will re-open schools and other public places on May 6th. ** So, all in all - as long as there is not a travel ban imposed on Mexico, and the situation doesn't worsen or spead to the Riviera Maya area-we plan on going! ** And as always, CNN is a great source for news. Please try and stay away from channels like FOX, etc. - they really feed off of sensationalizing these kinds of things. A lot can and is expected to happen in the next 5 weeks. We of course have all of you in our thoughts and in the end it is your decision. We will continue to keep ourselves educated and updated on the situation, and hope you will do the same. If you choose to cancel we understand, but at this stage feel it's premature. FOR THOSE THAT ARE INTERESTED: ***There are 2 anti-viral medications which have proven very effective in treating this strain of the flu: those are 1) Tamiflu and 2) Relenza*** These MAY BE TAKEN AS EFFECTIVE PREVENTATIVE MEASURES if you are concerned! Just go to your doctor and tell them you are visiting Mexico and request a prescription. And hey - we don't mind if you want to wear masks - would make for some interesting photo ops! We hope to have alleviated some of your fears, and let you know that we are thinking about everyone. We do not feel at this time that there is need for worry. Remember: "Fear" can be the worst 4 letter word out there! Thanks, and we look forward to seeing you in Mexico!!! Love Cary and Gail
