Too bad about the mic; I guess we'll just have to round up a megaphone! Has anyone done the legal ceremony or know where I can get an idea of what it says? I feel like you are all so on top of things and I am procrastinating! 2 months to go and nothing planned...

Ours worked great and everything but I would have rather bought the bose one, how do you like yours? I broke a piece on the one we have now, it still works, but eventually I want to buy a new one and thats the one I want. Thanks ladies! I wont waste the money on the sound system or dj then. Did you get the sound system for the ceremony though? Now I just have to talk my FH into hunting down a bose docking station.
  3. All this Dj talk is making me a little nervous. There are only going to be about 25 in my group. For those past brides, is it worth it to hire a DJ for so few people. Jill, didn't you even forgo the sound system and go with an ipod docking station? How did that work out and how big was your group? Any advice will help. I'm pretty much waiting til I get there to make all my decisions, but it sounds like I should maybe figure out the music thing.

  5. I want to trash my dress, but everytime I mention it my mom looks like she wants to cry. Anyone with a size 2-4 dress they want to get rid of? Any other ideas? Thanks ladies!
  6. I wanted to order the pink sashes to see waht color I liked best, so I'll take them off your hands intead of ordering them from linensdirect. Let me know how to pay you, never done this before
  7. check out customizedworld.com I have ordered things from there and been very pleased.

Great deal. whhere idd you find these if you don't mind my asking. I don't want to pay that either, but I do like the way a little color adds to the overall picture

I assumed included in the package meant it was taken care of! What time did you end up deciding on for your ceremony?

I wanted a legal ceremony for a reason, doesn't make sense to have religious stuff in a legal wedding WTF
  11. Thanks for the review. You looked fabulous! About the ceremony: were you married by a judge that came with a religous ceremony? We are not religious either, so I would like to know what tey usually use for the vows and such
  12. WOW! Thanks for the great review, you looked great. I want to trash my dress so bad and my mom keeps pouting that she wants me to wear it for our AHR. UGH!

If an outside vendor does not do as they promise it reflects poorly on Dreams, but I am sure they have some that they work with. Maybe ask your WC for a list of those that would be acceptable. good luck

I didn't really want to pay to hire a DJ for ~20 people, but I know we'll need the sound system. Thanks for the good info!
  15. I am so excited, my TA just got back from Dreams with her newly married and newly engaged sisters and the one who is not yet married fell in love and is in the process of trying to talk her FH into getting married there. After the stress of her sister's wedding, she doesn't want to do a big at home deal. They visited a bunch of resorts and she chose Dreams! Yay. I'll send her the info for this thread and we may have a noob soon. That just reinforces my decision to get married there.

I'm catching up though and I just wanted to say I love this thread! It really is so helpful. My FI thinks I'm a little too obsessed but whatever. So thanks to all of you and I will be writing again shortly. Welcome Michelle! I know it takes forever, but is so worth reading through the whole thread. I actually cut and pasted a 10+ page word document of all the stuff I thought would be helpful in the future while I read. I may bring it with me for backup since it has details of a lot of trades made by other people in the past
  17. My TA just got back from Dreams and said the resort is beautiful and the terrace is reception ready, so whatever construction was going on must be complete. Good thing, since that is where I want my reception!
  18. I think I'm going to try the 3milk cake, but won't be doing an upgrade. I'm not too concerned about it since nobody is all that impressed. And I think there is also a dessert choice; is that right?
  19. Were you able to choose what kind of flowers were on the cake? I am doing AA flowers because I wanted to be sure to get what I like and not get nailed at dreams for cost to upgrade or whatever. I don't really care if they are the same flowers I have in my bouquet, just color coordinated at least. Were they at all flexible with what went on the cake?

Moving the cocktail party before defeats this purpose. If you were just going to have cocktails before why not go to the bar and do it for free That is my 2 cents! LOL! I am actually skipping the cocktail party all together. I find it a big fat waste of money. There is a 45 min gap between my ceremony and reception so while I am taking pictures, my guests will go to the bar until the reception starts. I got a credit for the cocktail party which I applied to the reception. I am doing pics before the ceremony because it will be dark after, so we don't have to worry about missing anything. Frankly, I might go with your idea and skip it all together. Good thinking

I don't know if I should keep pushing for another vendor or just go with it...anyone hear about this policy lately? And FYI I'm also planning a beach wedding/recep. even though it'll be in Jan. not sure about the wind factor though, so far everything I've read just says that it gets chilly at night, but still nice during the day...hoping that's true...anyone know? Love reading all the posts, this forum is a Godsend! THANKS A BUNCH! As you may have read in the posts I have been having a photog issue too. Juan Navarro will be doing Jen's wedding when I am geeting married, so I have emailed claudia and she responded to Jen and her TA telling them that Juan has enough staff. However she emailed me and recomended that I contact Claudia Rodriguez studios. She is booked for my date but has asociates available, however they cost more than the photog I want. I have another email off to her requesting permission to use the photog of my choice. Long story short... lol! I'll let ya know when I hear from her.

I'm like ramblinggg but im just super nervouss.. its nervewrecking to plan something a gazillion miles away! Here is a suggestion: BREATHE! LOL, ok now, read this whole thread from the beginning. It wil take you forever, but it will tell you what you are dying to know and some things you didn't even think of yet. Then be calm and let the people at dreams do what they do. I am also a June bride (2009) with a 7:00 ceremony and never thought of doing cocktails before, so thanks for that one! Good luck planning and welcome!
  23. Wish I would have gotten in on this; crap!
  24. Dreams resorts offer a comp room for the night before and i was originally quite sure we would not use it. However, after reading al these posts and remembering the fun with the girls the night before my bro's wedding, I am rethinking. Maybe I will kick him out and invite the girls over for a slumber party! We live together now, so what is one night apart? We will def see eachother before ceremony because it is not til sunset and we will do pics while the sun is still up. Good luck figuring this one out! I made a vow to buck as many traditions as possible, but how often do you really get a night alone with the girls anymore?
