Wow! And having to change plans so close to your date! That really stinks! Well, I see you are going to be Maui'ed. That is pretty amazing..but I am sure you had to pay a hell of a lot more than you had originally planned? huh? My first choice was Maui! It is beautiful! You will have an amazing time! Were your guests all able to transfer to make it? Good luck to you sweetie!
  2. My MOH told me today her flight on United got canceled for our wedding July 5th! So now she has to rebook on Frontier...which is fine and will work, but I just don't have words to describe the disgust I have for the media. It is causing so much fear in everyone! People are canceling their trips, then the flights get canceled because they dont meet occupancy! Luckily Frontier has a pretty good track record. As long as they have 10 people on board they will fly. We have 15 booked 1 day, and 6 another, so as long as 4 randoms are on board we will be good! I am so sorry to everyone that has been affected!!! it is just terrible!!! Even though the flu is dying down...the damage is done to the travel industry and people are scared. This is the problem we will be facing in the upcoming months. Come on people, don't let fear get the best of you! Life is too short!
  3. Like some others said, have an honest conversation about your expectations and be sure before you book the photog that your BMs are going for sure. Let them know you really want to do something special and that you really have to know they will be there. If they hesitate...you have your answer. But please, please, please...don't have them sign a contract. That is awful that you had to go through that with your friend. That is some serious cash and yes tacky on her part. But at the same time all of the gifts you give should be gifts from your heart and friendship ...and not obligations that come with legal binding agreements. If you want opinions about business ask a business owner, if you want opinions from other brides, ask us. Please understand we are here to help and give you the best advice we can out of the help and that we have all received. I dont want to speak for anyone but myself...but this is how I feel. I really hope you don't feel attacked or "laid into." That is not mine or other's intentions at all. Mine is purely from experience and how I would take the gesture. I hope you do the right thing for you! That is all you can do! But you did ask for our advice, and I think that all the girls here give great advice and if we all seem to be saying the same thing, there must be validity to it, right? We wouldn't steer you wrong hun. And your FI said the same thing, didn't he?
  4. I agree with the other girls. If you are worried about losing money, I would maybe rethink the gesture. Although it is a great idea...and so creative and generous! You have already gone above and beyond...if you really want to give the photo time, you will just have to trust that people will show. I would not advise any contracts with friends. just my 2 cents. Good luck!

  6. I am getting married at the IB Lindo in Riviera Maya. To book I used Destination Weddings.com. They helped me pick my resort and contacted the Wedding Coords directly to secure everything. You pay a $50 deposit and when you book your trip it gets subtracted off the total (so it works out to be free). it has worked great for me! They also arrange all the travel for your guests. I have been happy! And I didnt have to make any phone calls to resorts. Good luck!
  7. I go in for my first alteration fitting on Sat. I paid upfront with my dress. Alterations are $250. Dress was $400. Crazy! At least it is paid for...well on my credit card. ha
  8. Hi and welcome! There is a thread just for us Iberostar girls that is so helpful, if you haven't dropped by please do~! I think you will find it very helpful! Congrats on your upcoming day! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t27304-6
  9. So sorry to hear that fear is getting the best of some of your guests! That is such a shame! 11 people to cancel is quite a lot in 1 day. That is a lot to take! I would recommend to take care of yourself today. Whatever that means to you. And yes...just focus on the good. 61 people is a lot and you are still able to celebrate with those who truly want to be there with you and your FH. Hang in there sweetie! And feel free to vent on here. That is what we are here for. Hugs!
  10. Thanks Cilly_Girl! I love that idea. For the AHR, I think assigning the table will be good. That way Fi and my side dont seperate themselves. We need to merge! Now to go through and figure how to group everyone. Thanks!
  11. Can you all please help me!? Ok, so I have read Etiquette books and it says that when you do not assign seats at the Reception it makes people uncomfortable. I am dreading coming up with seating arrangements! There is no family drama or anything like that..I just don't like it when people tell me where to sit, but also am not sure how I feel about sitting just wherever. I have been to weddings where both have happened. How do all you feel either way? Question Part I We are having 30 people at our DW dinner, I have to have place cards to tell the waiters what people are having for dinner. 1)Should I come up with a seating arrangement/table assignment? 2)Or should just have people pick up their place cars and have them sit where they choose? Question Part II Also, we are having an AHR with about 100 people for a Buffet. Should I come up with: 1)a seating arrangement 2)assignment to a table 3)let it be a free for all? Any suggestions about what to do? This is keeping me up at night. Thanks so much for your help!

I know it must be so hard to stay positive...I mean, who would have ever thought something like this could EVER happen! It is so ridiculous the amount of attention this flu has caused. I think it is because the media was bored they weren't able to report on Lindsay Lohan's relationship anymore...so they had to cover something. We can all blame her. haha But you have to just hope that they have their Sh*t together now and wont be canceling any more flights. Those jokers have ruined so many people's plans! I have my fingers crossed and I truly believe that this will all be over in a month. Keep your hopes high and let's all keep our sights on July! It will happen!!! Muah!
  13. I feel so bad for all you May brides that had to push your dates back. uuuhhhh!!!! What a nightmare! But it sounds like you all are adjusting and rolling with the punches! I guess all you can do at this point! I commend you all! Did it cost a lot to book another date? I am sure it is been gut wrenching! Props and love to you all! BTW, I hear July is a great month to get hitched!

It was great, we had a complete area sectionned off for us and it truly felt like we had our own private room. We went with the steak option for the menu. Although lots of people really enjoyed it, many didn't as they don't cook it 'to order' so you just get what they give you. I had the chicken and it was awesome. If I could make any recommendation, it would be to go with the chicken instead of the steak. We ate at the Italian restaurant a couple of times and the food was really good. It was probably our favourite a-la-carte. The only thing about the Italian restaurant is that there isn't really an area that you can have 'to yourself'. I guess it comes down to what your priority is..do you want more of a private dinner or not. I would personally say that the food at the Italian El Fogon was the best but that's not saying that the Steakhouse food wasn't any good. If I were to go back and do it again, I'd do it at the steakhouse and order the chicken instead of the steak. I hope this helps! I checked and I don't have a picture of the El Fogon, but I do have one of the Steakhouse. Let me know if I can answer any more of your questions and I'll try my best! Ooh, very nice! I love the mini review! Thanks for the chicken rec.
  16. SO THANKS SO MUCH AGAIN! I have been wanting to do this for a while now...and you just gave me the idea to finally pull the trigger! Yay! One more thing to cross off my list! So I just went to ebay and actually found landyards instead....the colors got me. they had teal and chocolate brown, my colors! It actually turned out to be the same cost I was expecting, I got a steal on the plastic badges so I was able to splurge on the landyards. Woo hoo! I love Ebay! For 20 landyards (1 per couple and 1 for singles) and I found the badges there too it cost $54 total, inc shipping. (Most places online had the vinly badges for $50 alone- for 100 count! ) This was a little more than I wanted to spend, but since they have been such a big hit with so many girls I thought, oh well, I will splurge. yay! Thanks a bunch!

Reyna and Anonieta both informed me that the menus some of you sent me for LA LAGUNA (ITALIAN REST.) the restaurant is not the italian restaurant no more, they made it into a buffet so you can't do your reception there anymore... They informed me that the place you have to go is EL FOGON for the italian restaurant, so I was seeing if any of you have pics of this restaurant you can send my way - if so send them to [email protected] Secondly, for those that already stayed at the lindo/maya or had there weddings there what did you think of the steakhouse vs. the italian (el fogon) restaurant - what food was better?!?! Thanks! Nice! I love the communication from my WC's. Luckily I chose the Steakhouse, but seriously I haven''t turned in my final sheet yet and what if I wanted the Italian? I am sure the ladies are great once you are there...but they haven't been as on as I would like them to be with the communication. haha, just venting. So are you still working with your same girls? I just looked at your ticker...5 days!!!

Let me know. Kristin Thanks Kristin! I am happy to take on this task. That way you can focus on your review. jk hehe I have the emails ready to go. There are 2 of them. I will be offline tonight. I was working on my review on the weekend and I vow to have it done by this weekend. I may just be the slowest review writer ever. My apologies for those of you that have been waiting so patiently! I will check as soon as I get home and will post anything that I have. Can't wait to read your review!
