Gail - Awww thanks and good luck!! I can't wait to hear how it all goes! I know you've been super stressed about it but I am praying that everything will go exactly how you envisioned it. Have a safe trip! Can't wait to see the pics of you wearing "our" earrings haha. Quote: Originally Posted by sunandrun Bess, I am so sorry for you loss. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers! THanks so much gals! Her service was very nice and comforting to talk to her family. I feel so bad for them. But doing better today. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.
  2. We sent an Save the Date through Destination Weddings.com (9 months before) and then sent an evite (7 months before). And we just sent out invites mid May (Wedding July 5) only to those who already booked and RSVPed yes. The Evite has been an amazing tool for us. I got the idea from a friend doing a DW. We used the Evite in stead of the RSVP card. Then we sent invites to only those who RSVP'ed, we have 30 people attending... this has worked well.. So maybe send an Evite. Also Pingg is a really cool site. This will help you contact everyone at teh same time and help you keep track of everyone. This may not help you...as it might be too late since you have already gotten some RSVP's back, but anyone else having this same issue may be able to benefit. Good luck!

They were a little shocked at the check-in counter, but I pretty much refused to budge on the matter. So, they let me do it, stating I had to work out the logistics of the dress once I was on the plane. So, while we were waiting our 4 hour delay (yes, that's right 4 HOURS) a random girl walked up to me and was like: "Is that your wedding dress?" And I told her it was and she got a bit irked as she was ALSO getting married but she called ahead to the airline before showing up at the airport and they told her she wasn't allowed to have it as carry-on so she had to stuff her dress in a suitcase and check it!! I tried not to look smug, and I really did feel bad for her because the dress must have been SO wrinkled when she took it out of the suitcase! In my opinion: Show up with your dress in a dress bag as carry-on. They'll find room for it. Even though we were on a small plane (with no room to hang the dress) the flight attendants were REALLY sweet and made sure the dress was laying on top of the luggage stored in the overhead compartment (the compartment was the perfect length!) and they routinely checked on it after turbulence and after landing. Thanks! I leave in 3 weeks! Can't worry about it.. I will just keep my fingers crossed and pray they let me carry it on.
  4. Hmm, in the article it says when travelig by plane: Traveling by Plane There was a time when you could carry the gown with you and hang it in a storage cabin. Today most airlines insist you check your gown with your other luggage so unless your gown is very informal you will need a large box or an extra suitcase to protect it. I think this is contradictory to what the other girls have said. I thought most airlines let you take the gown on the plane with carry on.

Planning is good and keeping me busy but had a rough week. Here is the scoop, My good friend passed away. Her funeral is tomorrow. It is so sad, she was only 31, would have been 32 on Thursday. Pretty broken up over it. But with everything coming up, I have to stay strong, with the ocassional outburst. We are leaving for Mexico in 3 weeks, then we head off to Australia and New Zealand for 3 weeks. Then we get back and have our AHR. It is going to be crazy! I just got my Annoucements for the DW and AHR out today. WOOO HOO! That is a miracel in itself with the way the week went. I wanted to get them out last week, but had a really hard week. But just keeping busy. Trying to get everything done. FI has been great, I have been a nightmare for him this week. I just hope he still wants to marry me after my bridezilla/mourning ways. Ha! Bess

  8. Thanks girls! It is such a relief to have them done! Now just need to get them there! Ha!

I just got my luggage tags done and they day Paraiso Beach all over them. Say did you ask about an upgrade? I asked my TA but he didn't say anything, so should we ask the resort? We leave on the 2nd. We upgraded for our honeymoon the last two nights at the Grand. It was pricey but I am sure it will be worth it. At this point I will be grateful for our guests to be upgraded...but not holding our breathe. I guess I am just happy I have not had to go through what the other girls did for their upgrade, but if we get one...I will take it! Ah, we will totally be at the resort on you big day! That just occured to me! If if works out it would be great to congratulate you! When are you there til?
  13. Not sure if this is accurate, but this came from Mr Iberostar: Iberostar Hotels & Resorts Reopens Two Riviera Maya Hotels « on: June 03, 2009, 12:43:45 PM » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Iberostar Hotels & Resorts Reopens Two Riviera Maya Hotels As a result of the CDC and U.S. Department of State lifting travel alerts to Mexico relating to the H1N1 influenza outbreak, Iberostar Hotels & Resorts announced that the Iberostar Tucan and Iberostar Quetzal hotels reopened on June 1, 2009. Due to decreased travel to Mexico as a result of the H1N1 Virus, Iberostar Hotels & Resorts had voluntarily chosen to temporarily close some of the hotels in May. Iberostar took this proactive initiative in order to continue maintaining the high level of service that Iberostar is known for and provide guests with a memorable vacation experience. The Iberostar Paraiso del Mar and Iberostar Paraiso Beach hotels are tentatively scheduled to open at the end of June. During the closures, Iberostar will perform previously scheduled necessary preventive maintenance and upgrades. Iberostar continues to welcome travelers to select Mexico hotels. The following hotels are open, fully operational and treating guests to Iberostar’s world renowned service. 14. Hi Ireland381. I got engaged in Sept and getting married in July. I had 10 months for planning and that was plenty of time. You have your Chapel booked so the next things to look at are the resort and the Photgo. For me if you have those things booked, everything else will fall into place and you have more time with. You are not slacking at all and have plenty of time! Just getting the basics like a date and a place to stay are the most important. You will find so many ideas form this site and the girls are so helpful! Use the search Tool to look at more topics and questions. We have discussed so many topics and they are all there for your use. Congrats and good luck!
  15. Thanks girls, I am so happy to have them done. The Wet Bikini Bag I found at Marshalls...not sure where to get them retail. they have many colors, I also have pink and blue. And the OOT bags I have a different design on each bag. The biggest cost was the paint I got, the brushes, and the stencils. But it was a fun way to customize.
  16. Congrats Kathy and Jackie! Well deserved!

  18. I want to thank all the ladies I have borrowed ideas from on this amazing site! There are a lot of you and I can’t give credit by name to all…too many of you! But please know I have appreciate everything on this site and all of your help! The info about oots has been one of the most valuable piece for me and I could not have done it without you all. I started creating them when I joined the site back in Nov. And they are complete as tonight! Woo hoo! Now my turn to share. I have pics and links to help all future brides. Thanks again! Enjoy! The Bag itself I got at Michaels. I bought paint and stencils and hand designed them all. 16 total. Total price around $100. Looking back I would have gone more generic. Koozies came from Barry Koozies, recommended here. See link. Thanks for your design, Megan! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t27639 My Pashminas are the reason I joined. Thank you Simistar! Love this site. So cheap! $3.95 a piece. They are great quality for a knockoff. Very happy! 19. I got my Koozies today. I used Megans's design...thanks Megan. I am happy with the way they turned out! yay! Thanks so much for this thread!
  20. I went in for my second fitting today. My MOH took pics and should be sending...so I will post when I get those.
  21. My colors are pool/turquoise and chocolate brown. This has translated great for all aspects of the wedding.
  22. Too cute, the crop is a little stretched, but you can still tell you look great! Such a great dress!
  23. Why the hell does SPencer think they are the biggest stars ever? He is a no talent a$$ clown and she is his puppet! Ha! But I love the Hills...shhhhh! Dont tell anyone! Ha!
  24. I am bumping this as I was going to post a new thread, but FI and I are honeymooning in Australia and New Zealand for 3 weeks after the wedding in Mexico. Can anyone give me some advice that has been? We have our flights booked. We are going to Syd, Brisbane, Cairns, and Melbourne. Then off to New Zealand. Christchurch and Queenstown. Anything I missed? Any input on must sees? This is our dream trip. July is going to be a whirlwind. Yep, we will be in mass debt. But totally worth it! For the cost of a normal wedding at home..we instead opted for doing a Mexico wedding, an relaxed casual AHR, and we get to go to AUS and NZ.
