I am so glad that we did even though I was a nervous wreck about the spectators. Thanks Ryan's Girl! We are getting married on the beach as that is our dream...and while I am nervous, we are still doing it. Speedos and tatas and all! That was too funny! I had to forward to FI for a laugh. Hopefully we will get lucky and not get flashed on our big day!

They aren't at Max yet, so I am sure there is still room to move people, it just depends if you want everyone close together. Good luck and I hope it works out for you. Nice! Yeah, I haven't heard back form him...I don't expect to get any kind of refund. We were lucky FBIL got to switch w/o additonal costs and a bonus of refund. FFiL just wanted me to ask. So I did, but if we get upgrded, that would be great! Thanks so much!

We did our own invites and FH kept wanting to change the type (font, setting, etc) and it was the only fight we've had the whole year we've been planning!! I thought I would start a thread to post topics and we can ask each other this question, "Should I let this go, or does it require more energy?" I am sure we all get to the point and ask ourselves, "Does this really require this much stress?" Two weeks from the wedding and everything seems stressful I can't tell anymore. Maybe you are with me!? My situation is I just finished my DIY programs last night. I posted them under DIY. I showed them to FI last night after I was all excited about them and he said, "Is "your" mispelled?" I freaked out! Iam a grammar nut! I can't believe I wrote Your, instead of You're. This is in a title of a song. So do I let it go? Or do I reprint. Obviously there are worst things. So do I let it go and let people judge my poor grammar? Or re-print, re-roll, and re-tie. Fiance says to write it in! Haha Any thoughts?

Hi Ladies, I have been debating what to do about programs. For a while I didn't think I would do them. But in order to say thanks to our parents and guests, honor my bridal party and my FSIL (she is going to sing for us during the wedding in a Solo...she is an amazing opera singer). I wanted to make sure everyone got their props. I got the idea from my MOH. She said to do a Message in a bottle, without the bottle. She made my invites as well. She is in the process of setting up an Etsy site, so if you want her info I can give it to you. I don't think she has it up yet. My programs were DIY, I found the template online somewhere. I am happy to email it to you if you want it. Also, Don't print the first page, the template I used is a fold up. I only printed page 2 and rolled them up. This makes it easier. I got Banana Leaf paper from office max and had them printed there. Then I went to Joanns- Craft and Fabric, and got hemp to tie each one. All together the cost was $22. The biggest cost was the banana leaf paper at $12. I am so happy to have one more thing crossed off my list! Here is the pics of both the programs and the invites.

I'm not sure what they have available now. Depending on how full the hotel is when you get there you can ask the front desk for a room upgrade for your FIL. If they have it available, I'm sure they would do it if your TA can't get a refund for them. We got free upgrades at both the Lindo and the Grand without asking. My in-laws got upgraded from the Lindo to the Maya because their room was too far away. They asked to be moved to a closer room, but they didn't ask to be upgraded to the better hotel so it was nice surprise for them. The hotels were not fully booked when we were there so I'm surprised they didn't just move them to a closer room in the Lindo. I haven't been on the forum too much lately, but congratulations to all the Iberostar brides that have recently gotten married! Thanks kathy and Michelle! I haven't heard back from TA, I am sure I put him off...but I had to ask for the sake of my FIL's irritation from spending more than $1000 than what they are asking now. I will definitely ask when we get there. Thanks for the tips! I finished my DIY programs tonight...I will post in a bit. I am so happy!

Hey girls, So I have had some drama this week with my wedding party. Need to vent a bit! FBIL and his wife had a snag on their trip. FSIL originally had her time off approved (she works for the USPO) and now they say she has to work on July 3rd or she will be fired. They were supposed to leave on the 2nd, and now they are leaving on the 4th. So I have been working with the TA to change their room reservations etc, and they had to pay Frontier $300 in change fees. YUCK! FFIL was pissed! Luckily TA rebooked them and they got a $240 refund on the room, which I was very happy with! FFIL is paying for us and them, so he asked hey, maybe we can get a refund too. Although I felt bad for asking, but All he can do is say no! RIght? Well, I just sent an email saying thank you etc. and BTW, any chance they can get a refund or upgrade? It can't hurt to ask, right? I am sure he will come back and say Hell to the no! But At least I asked. Have you all looked how cheap things are right now? It is insane. Well, at least we are all going and the Swine flu is all over. Has anyone asked, or gotten any refunds in the difference in prices, or upgrades? Just curious. Oh, and I didn't want to be greedy, I just asked for our parents who are paying for our families for the refund in difference or upgrades. Even though we could have booked the freakin Grand for our entire stay with what we paid for our portion. haha! Ha! Oh well! I am just happy we are going and everyone is able to join us. And my Father in Law is happy I asked! I am such a dang people pleaser! Uhhh! Hugs! Bess

How to tell guests it's NOT an open bar...?
BBtoB replied to angieanderson's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Tacky is such a strong word. I do like the idea of beer and wine all night to find a happy medium. And I do think four drinks is generous, but beer and wine all night might be the same amount or close? And the bottom line is that you dont want to spend beyond your means, but it is nice to find the balance and still try to make everyone happy. That is a very tough thing to do. Have you talked to the restuarant to see what the options are? See if they can work out a deal for you. -
STILL CONFUSED about receiving GIFTS ...Advice?
BBtoB replied to suntansam's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We don't expect our friends to get us anything. We did register just in case, but more for fun. I always wanted to register at Crate and Barrell..I love that store and have spent 1000's of dollars there but not on me, my friends' weddings. So that was fun in itself. Yay! We did not inlclude anything on our Boarding pass invites about gifts nor did we for our AHR. We just left it off and are hoping everyone has enough sense to not trek anything with them. One of my friends asked what she should get us...(who is in the wedding) and I told her no gifts please. She insisted. And I said your presence is gift enough and she insisted...so I said we will have to haul it home. Hopefully she got the hint. My BMs are throwing me a shower this Saturday and included the Registries on there...I was ok with that. I am so excited! They keep sending me emails and asking me all sorts of funny questions. Like send some pics of FI, his email address. And the last one was what size undies I wear. Hehe! So excited! Sorry off track and now I think I hehe! Sorry, Just excited for the weekend! -
Wedding Favor Ideas
BBtoB replied to PM.Wedding's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Here is something I came up with last night for our AHR. Salt Water Taffy....we are having about 100 people come so favors can add up quick. For $100 we are getting 1500 pieces. That is 15 per person. I am doing cute oraganza bags. I am so excited! I got the idea while watching Unwrapped on the Food network and thought it was perfect...and our guests will guest a hefty serving so I can sleep at night. here is a link to my source: http://www.taffyshop.com/ -
Hi Sweetie! I am so sorry you are having to go through these woes. This sounds like a nightmare. I would say it is time to get firm and a little, how should I say, Biotchy? I know it may not be your true self...but since this lady is on your last never not to mention royally screwing up, I think you have to put your foot down and tell her what's up. Normally my philosophy is catching more flies with honey, however, she has way crossed the line and now it is time to get fired up and let her know this is unacceptable! I think you have to tell her waht is up and this is not flying and she needs to do her job and let you be the happy bride you deserve to be! I like the idea of talking to her manager too...but I find it may work to give her heck first. Just my two cents, but she needs to know enough is enough. And even though you may not want it, if everyone else is getting a free upgrade, you damn well better get one too. Muah!!! Hugs! Hang in there!

I need to find something to wear. I like the idea of keeping it casual. We are geting legal on our lunch hour, both our parents are coming to be there, then we will take a lunch, then I have to go back to work. Booo! but I am excited, even tho Mexico will be our wedding date, the legal day will be fun too!

What are your thoughts? Thanks! I hear it is going to be HOT! But we are early July, so maybe it will not be as hot? I got mine from Asian Import for less than a $1 each and in our colors. They are pretty! They have nicer ones too if you dont want the paper. Hand Fans

Here is what we did. Sent a Save the date email. (10 months before) Had all the resort info, date etc. Then sent an Evite asking everyone to RSVP. (7 months before) We had 31 people RSVP'ed and all but two have booked so we have 29 total. We did not send RSVP cards, since we had everyone RSVP on Evite. Pingg is a good site too as an alternative to Evite. Then we sent Boarding pass invites 1 1/2 months before only to the people that said yes to the Evite. Only needed to send out 17 invites. 30 Rsvp...couple and families. We also sent the boarding passes to the 2 that RSVP's that have not yet booked...and they most likely won't book. But just in case, did not want to leave them out since they did RSVP. We are having an AHR in August. So we sent out seperate invites just this week to everyone invited including all those attening the DW. So a total of 100 invites. It was an annoucment about our DW/ invite to wedding celebration with details, directions insert and RSVP postcard (saved a bit in postage!). This has worked perfect for us. I purchased the boarding passes from a vendor and my MOH made my AHR invites ( she is amazing and so creative) so I have done this very cost effectively. Good luck!

Welcome and congrats! This is such a great site and you will be able to plan your entire wedding here! Ok, My two cents on DW. I am using DW.com for our upcoming wedding. My entire party has booked through them. All 30 of us. My experience has been pretty good...some things I would change so not perfect. But overall I am pretty happy and stress free as far as the planning of the actual trip. My agent has been really great with responses. But I know some have had some not so good experiences. It sounds like hit or miss depending on who you get. But if you get a bad agent, I guess you can ask for someone new from what I have heard. I got suckered in with the $50 fee...so that is what initially kept me with them. I am cheap! Didn't want to lose it so I stopped looking around. They do take the $50 off your balance when you pay for your trip so that is good to know. OK, (hear say) if you decide not to use them, I did hear getting the money back is a pain. And I heard some lost their $50 deposit. But if another TA can save you money, the $50 may be a wash. Not sure why or the full details on getting the $50 back. I would assume your wedding date has to pass or something, then you have to claim it? Not sure about since we used their services. I know that this awesome site has pros on all the great locations so they are here to help plan your dream trip too! Good luck with your planning and have fun here!
