  1. So at first I thought I might want to keep my name. I am a forward thinking woman and all for equality with men, etc. But for our future children and for the family aspects I like having the same name. For work I think I will use a hyphen and keep my last name, might do that legally too. Not sure yet, how i will do this legally. My concern is my credit and those types of things. But yep, for the family aspect I will be taking his name.

  3. I think your mom can totally throw a shower if that is what you want. There are no rules that I know of that say your mom can't be the one to give you a shower. It is not a bacherlorette party where you are getting crazy...it is a girls day of whatever. You could even just go and have a relaxing lunch somewhere. Oh, and if you really want a shower...I would ask your mom or another close person to see what is up, in a non bridezilla, just curious way...I am sorry, I wish I had a better answer. 'I wonder who will throw my shower for me too. But if no one says anything I would ask my mom or FI to drop hints to his side. But that is just me...if I want something I make it happen. Good luck!

Oops!). They will drive you over to the Grand with your luggage on one of the golf carts since they will take you to the front entrance. You could walk to the Grand from the Lindo on the beach so if you did want to go visit friends or family it is a short walk, or you can ask your butler to drive you over to the Lindo (they will take you anywhere on the resort on the golf carts you just have to ask!). However, we never went back to the Lindo after getting to the Grand! It is just that amazing, and after spending a few days with everyone up until the wedding it was nice to have time alone with Mike and have an actual honeymoon. Awesome! I think you sold! Me! Done and Done! Thanks so much for your expertise!

Is the Grand very far from the Lindo? Most likley we will be going back and forth since some of are friends will still be at the Lindo and we will go hang out with them for a bit. Any suggestions? We are torn. Thanks! Bess

I would highly recommend her as Mike and I are so happy with our pictures, and we had a great time working with her. She photographed our Friday wedding at the Iberostar Lindo with an assistant, and we scheduled our 2 hour TTD session for the Monday after at the Iberostar Grand (we switched hotels after the wedding for honeymoon). We had to pay a $50 guest pass for her and her assistant for the wedding day and $150 guest pass for them to come to the Grand. I'm not sure why there was such a difference in the guest pass prices, and we didn't find out until the day of the TTD so we just went with it. We had to pay the resort photoshop $300 for hiring an outside photographer for the wedding, but we only had to pay that once. The guest passes were charged to our room, and we paid the photoshop with travelers checks. I had sent Claudia a list of some of our must have pictures and some other shots that I liked from other weddings. I also gave her a list of all our guest names with pictures ahead of time to help know who everyone was. Citlalli was calling people by their names on the wedding day so it must have helped! She has the patience of a saint because Mike's nephew doesn't listen and apparently doesn't cooperate very well for pictures. She still managed to get some cute pictures with him even though I know it had to be really frustrating. Mike was aggravated with him and had to hold his arms down at one point so I can only imagine what she was thinking. Ha ha! Citlalli had some great ideas and went along with other pictures that we wanted. The colors of the pictures are amazing! We got a photo album filled with color and black and white 4x6 prints, a bunch of 8x10 and 5x7 prints of color and black and white, and all our digital negatives on 4 CDs. Here is the link to our pics if you want to check them out: Shutterfly | View share Thanks for the info about the DJ. Your pictures are amazing! Thanks for sharing! I hope mine turn out as well as yours!
  14. Does anyone know how the DJ will hook up an ipod that we bring? I know people have mentioned using one before for the reception. I am wondering what I will need to bring for the connection. Also, do they give you a mic to announce?

Hi Gail, You know as an option for an email, you could use Evite.com. That will allow you to state all the info and get a count of who all is coming. In the body of the evite, just state formal invivations to follow, but in the mean time here are the details, etc. they have some really cute graphics, it is free and it will help you get a leg up on getting out the details. We used that and it is working well. Good luck!
  16. I need some help determining what color flowers I should use. My colors are teal and chocolate brown. Any ideas? Thanks!

I went to the designer's website and nothing! The bridal salon and the style director I met at the trunk show told me I wouldn't find any pictures of it for a little while cause it came from the runway. So this morning I found out that Brides.com had the full Fall 2008 runway pictures from Rivini---- who designed my gown. i copied and pasted them sooo quickly so i could run here and show them to you! to read the full story of how i found and fell in love with my dress, click here: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t31689 i am, however, kinda disgusted with the face and make up of the model. it's not the regular "bridal" makeup but the model still looks cute despite the dark lipstick. i wish they had a softer makeup. there must be a reason why the designer chose this makeup style for her Fal 2008 collection. Now, pictures!!! here are pictures of my high-fashion Rivini couture gown.... This picture is from Brides Magazine. It was part of a featured article titled "The Finer Things: Indulge your passion for high fashion and couture-inspired details" My dress was under "Trumpets' Flair" my dress is on the right: i didn't want to post this picture until i saw the professional ones. now that i have the run way pics, here's me with my wedding gown on: that's a stolen pic because we weren't allowed to take pics. my mom decided to break the rule and take a quick pic with my camera phone. hehehe go mommy! i am a huuuuge fan of the sweetheart neckline so i asked the style director to change the neckline. just one simple request and i will get my sweetheart neckline gown! I am sooo happy!!! I always have dreamed of wearing a designer gown for my wedding day. i can't believe it's actually happening!!! i am so excited for my gown to finally be here and to wear it again. the dress looks wwaaay better in person. the lace that covers the bodice is amazing. it cascades down to your waist instead of ending in just straight line. the tulle accent on the bottom has alencon lace, chantilly lace, and point d'esprit lace. the dress is very detail oriented! when i was dreaming of my gown i knew i wanted lace. another important thing for me is to be multi-layered, to have contrasting fabrics and details. i love how the silk covered buttons line the spine on the back and goes all the way down to the skirt of the dress. i think my gown is very unique and i am in love with it! as for veils, i will be wearing a cathedral veil, designed by Vera Wang, that goes all the way down to the floor. since my gown has no train, i decided to get a long veil to create a tail. my veil is also a 2-tiered veil with the 2nd veil hitting my elbows. the style director for Rivini was at the trunk show so he showed me how to make my dress even more bridal by wearing a combination of 2 veils. my 2nd veil will be a flowered point d'espirit short veil that only covers the face. HOWEVER, he did something to it where the lace part covers the bun of my hair. then the long veil will go on as usual displaying the small flowered veil inside. for the reception i'm considering getting a blush pink veil with ivory alencon lace on the trimmings. my wedding is pink and ivory so i think it will be fun to have! for jewelry, i am buying chandelier crystal and pearl earings. pearl necklace and a pearl bracelet with a crystal charm. i am also wearing a high tiara. yea, i'm going all out. this is my wedding and there's 101 different looks to go for so why not have fun and experiment? try them all! =) a bride should never be afraid to enjoy and have fun with their styles! i am sooo happy!!!!!!!! i think this has been the FUNNEST part of planning the wedding. =) i love the fashion aspect of a wedding!!! You look amazing in your dress! So gorgeous. I like the sound of your eaarrings, where are you getting them at? I am looking for a similar style.Thx!

Thanks gain for your detailed review. I loved it! I am a cryer too, so I definitely will have to remember the WaterProof Mascara.
  21. BTW there seemed be quite a bit of talk about Civil vs. Religious ceremony. It varies from State to State on marriage requirements. No idea about Canada. But in Colorado you can get a marriage license at the City and County Bulding and then sign it right there and you are married. It is $10 and you are done. You of course need the right identification etc. But Couples themselves may solemnize their own marriage in Colorado. I called the courthouse and did some research but this is a heck of a lot easier than the hoops they make you jump though in MX. Not sure about Canada. But worth checking into to see if you can do it ahead of time. We were also willing to go to the JofP, but since it was not necessary we will skip that.
  22. Michelle and Lyssa, thanks so much for your awesome reviews! You both gave great information and details~! Congrats to you both! And thanks for sharing your special day with us! I have a question about the limit of nights you can eat at the A la carte restaurants. Do they limit you to just 3? i have seen that a couple of places. Thanks!
  23. Yay! That is an awesome teaser! Great info! I can't wait to read the rest of it!
  24. Again, thanks for all the tips ladies! I think I will just keep everything and check it on the plane. Can't wait to hear and see more, Michelle! Your set up for the wedding looked great! You ladies are amazing and I am so happy to have your wonderful ideas and suggestions. These are things that no one else can really can help with, freinds and family wise. This is such a great site. And I look foward to chatting with you more in the months to come, before our bigs days. And congrats to those who recently tied the knot.
  25. Thanks so much! So do you know if we can ship items down to the WC? Good call on the shells. I guess I will need to check into that. They are really cute, so I hope I can get them in.
